The staff were brilliant especially Steve on reception. Thank you
Bathroom decor was a little tired.
great staff good parking great value good location
Room, scrambled egg properly cooked. Strong coffee.
Grumpy service, lack of fresh fruit, no honey, poor quality sausages.
Comfortable bed in quiet room overlooking the garden. Very good location, just off A.30 Friendly & helpful staff.
Lack of comfortable lounge area. Very poor breakfast. poor choice of cereals and fruit. Salt bacon. Coach party staying.
Very well located for the town. Friendly staff. Good breakfasts.
The rooms, and especially the bathrooms, needed a thorough make over. Everything was very worn and shabby.
Room was very good, clean and spacious.
TV too small, no internet access except in reception, breakfast poor quality food, evening meal fair.
Location to the town
The room I stayed in was in a very poor condition. Wall paper peeling off the walls, paint peeling off the door, carpet coming up at the edges. Bathroom very shabby, toilet seat didn't fit. The room was not very clean. It needed a total makeover. Very different to the pictures on the web.
The breakfast was excellent. The dining room was very light and airy.
Lack of service for evening snack. I got no attention and eventualy retired without eating. Poor breakfast, tinned tomatoes and congealed egg, limited fruit and no croissant, only self prepared toast, poor coffee.
Dinner at restaurant
Tongs left under hot lights in buffet, dropped quick before I burnt my hand, need a plate to put them on. Sausages and bacon, eggs all dried up under hot lights. Mug had coffee in tasted of soap, had to return. Flush handle in toilet did not work and shower only a trickle! Tea bags and shower cream difficult to open. Duvet very heavy. Left all this on the questionnaire I left at hotel.
Location is excellent for Sherborne Girls. Breakfast was decent. Room comfortable, clean and quiet. X
outside space and the grounds and good parking. Staff were all friendly and attentive. Good evening entertainment The one evening meal that we had was average. We had a larger upgraded room with good en suite but the general décor/windows and communal areas all need redecorating and carpets changed.
The hotel had a tired feel to it and the breakfast range was limited but adequate for a two day stay. It would be tedious for a week or more. It probably complied with a three star rating but we have stayed in better facilities for less especially abroad.
Very tired, tatty hotel. Some of the staff were very indifferent although the receptionist was a very good advert for the hotel.
very good staff excellent entertainment, very good food, enjoyed all thanks
Dining area Reception staff
Bar staff No comfy chair in room No fresh coffee No wi-fi
Comfy beds, quiet location, very nice reception staff. Excellent breakfast buffet with HOT food and WARM plates (you don't find that in most hotels, where luke-warm seems to be the rule nowadays). Good value!
Lack of bar service (maybe the bell doesn't work?). In need of redecoration throughout, especially restaurant floor covering.
The staff, who are working in difficult circumstances were professional, friendly and very helpful. They deserve a medal!
The hotel is is dire need of renovation. There is mould and paper peeling off the walls due to damp. The condition of the paintwork is terrible and the carpets have not been cleaned for years. The first two rooms I was shown were damp and the bathrooms barely fit for purpose. The delightful and helpful girl on reception found me a more recently renovated room, which while old fashioned and cheaply done out, was at least fit for use. I know the hotel is in financial difficulties which is why they cannot renovate it. I would give it a miss unless you are desperate, are only staying one night and can get an upgraded room.
The fact they had space on a busy weekend - end of term at Sherborne school
No internet. Even when it is working you pay a high hourly rate. Like the old Crossroads motel! Dated, scruffy. My shower curtain was dirty. I could not pay for my newspaper on the bill - cash only! Pretty grim. Never again!
staff very helpfull
rooms could be cleaner but satisfactory
Clean, value for money and lovely staff.
Steve at Reception was very helpful. The pork chop was very tasty. Keyboard player was good for Sat night entertainer.
Dinner in the restaurant was of poor quality, my mother and my son both complained about their chips. My mother at breakfast had to wait 20 mins for the baked beans to arrive, not good. I was kept awake for the two nights by the noise:constant banging as if the radiator is coming on, or people tapping on the walls. Came back totally exhausted. Also, the shampoo sachet was left used up and the rubbish left on the soap dispenser in the shower..so obviously had not been cleaned properly from the previous people. Paint on bathroom walls all dry and peeling off..
The staff were friendly and were doing their best.
The computers had gone down and there were no room keys. The hotel was very shabby with the rooms and bathrooms in dire need of refurbishment and update. My granddaughter said it looked like an old folks home.
Location and value for money were excellent for visiting friends in the area, but you get what you pay for ... not Ritz prices, and not 5* luxury either. The staff were friendly enough, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Tea making facilities were available in the room. I would stay here again, as I only required a place to sleep and a cup of tea in the morning
The dining facilities were very basic ... Breakfast was self service and didn't look very fresh ... I did ask for fresh fried eggs and these were brought very willingly from the kitchen
Comfy Sofa in Room
Bit shabby, one bedside light broken, toilet seat broken. Bit too expensive for what you get.
public areas comfortable plenty of car parking
bathroom very tired in need of updating. breakfast ok selection but fried eggs always hard even when asked for fresh.
