executive rooms in castle were like flats/apartments just minus a kitchen
original sash windows were rather drafty
Comfortable bed and attentive, polite staff Good quality food and nice ambience in dining room Great location from Glasgow city, very convenient
The room that I had was looking a little "tired" and could have benefitted from fresh decorating. Good quality drapes/cushions etc.
Nice friendly staff , good menu well priced
Good staff,location,interesting building ,free wifi
rooms getting a bit tatty
Well, this is not real catsle, but enough catsle-feeling (building exterior and reception) for good price (at least for weekdays). Spacious room including bathroom were very clean. Location is not in convenient area, but restraunt located on-site offered good food and atmosphere with real fireplace. They also have free wi-fi.
ROOM WAS COMFORTABLE AND MODERN. STAFF WERE GREAT AND THE FOOD EXCEPTIONAL.
The staff were friendly and helpful . The food in the restsurant was very good.
The room we booked was in the annexe and we weren't told about this until we arrived. The room itself was very large and well fitted out. The only problem was having to go outside to get to the annexe and it was pouring rain.
Stunning Hotel, amazing surroundings - staff fantastic.
Interesting building with its own history. Excellent food and service. Very spacious accommodation with separate bedroom, sitting area and bathroom en suite. Hotel is set in its own well maintained grounds within a very attractive part of Glasgow.
Some features of the room & facilities were a little tired. We would have preferred a wider bed. No lift in the hotel and very narrow stairway to uppermost floor, which was in striking contrast to the elegant stairway to the first floor level.
Historic building and fixtures, but not gaudy Very friendly and helpful Staff Excellent (buffet) breakfast Good Wifi Not in city centre but just a couple of hundred yards away from the railway system. And plentiful private parking (unlike almost all the city centre Hotels !!)
The bed - a couple of singles pushed together do not make a kingsize double. Perhaps a topper-mattress could be provided to lessen the obvious (and uncomfortable) gap in the middle. The weather. ;-)
Beautiful bathroom and views of glasgow. Would recommend :)
Very kind and willing to help personell, tasty dishes, fresh air, well-working internet connection, location is close to beautiful parks, great bed to have rest.
No fire extinguishing sprinklers, bad sound isolation, old mechanical non-interrogated locks, no step-free access neithe to the lobby nor to the rooms, smell of an old house - however all of the above due to the historical building specifics.
Beautiful rooms lovely bathroom, fab room service staff excellent great views of the city. Breakfast tasty. Free parking free wifi. We will be back wen working in Glasgow
This is a beautiful hotel sensitively renovated from a former mansion. It really is superb in a stunning location not far from centre of Glasgow. You will not regret staying here.
The hotel is located high above the street, which means there are good views at least from some rooms. My room was large, and the bathroom was just huge. The restaurant serves excellent food.
The room was cold so I had to use the electric heater, which was already in the room when I arrived
Staff we're very welcoming and friendly, we were very pleased with the room and bathroom facilities
The room we had was fantastic.
Having to get up early to go to work the next morning.
No as impressive as one would think , the desk staff were not very friendly upon arrival.
Room. Staff Glamour. Could live there
Staff, setting, junior suite, food was good and breakfast excellent with great service even at 07.00! Reception staff exceptional and building very interesting Gothic style. Good parking.
The castle was beautiful outside and in and the restaurant was great. Really good service despite the fact that there was a large group of people celebrating a lady's birthday.
We had expected to stay IN the castle - but after checking in we were led outside, down a hill and into a separate brick building that resembled a garage. The room turned out to be pretty lux, but it felt like it was in a basement with a woodsy view and we were disappointed considering the price. The location was a long way from everything, but that probably wouldn't matter to everyone.
The ambience and the very warm welcome. A beautiful building with pleasant surronds.
People, location, food and overall value.
Felt like queen for the day and the diner was outstanding xx
Overall a very good hotel in a quiet location
Not an actual castle but a baronial style (very large) house in a leafy suburb; not able to reach top turret "due to health and safety" which was disappointing. The city was not easily accessible as the local train service only arrived every 30 minutes, so we drive into town instead to save time.
