It's in a perfect setting
Disappointed with decor, some of the staff don't know how to smile. We ate in restaurant only one night as we found food a bit tastless. Breakfast was fine.
The room, staff & food. Will always return to this hotel!!
It was convenient but that's about all. Staff seemed very surly at breakfast time. The bathroom was poorly appointed and the shower was very poor indeed
Bit noisy disco
The location and view is superb. Room was large
Bed was lumpy, Hot water wasn't Wifi didn't work, Breakfast was not really up to scratch Needed a deodorant to counter the deodorant in the bathroom.
Food fantastic and staff exceptionally helpful.
Asked for a quiet room (Room 1) which, admittedly, was at the end of a corridor but located right next to the traffic lights outside so actually had quite a disturbed nights sleep.
The hotel is in a lovely place and was great value for money. The staff were very friendly. For us it was a last minute booking on an essential trip that would have normally meant staying at a Premier Inn or the like. It was nice to go soewhere with a bit of character instead. The fact the my parents had their honeymoon there in 1952 was a pleasant association.
The bathroom was a bit scruffy and the shower curtain was badly stained.
The door locked me in the room.
room decor, comfortable beds beautiful location, good food
Very nice rooms. Ckean and comfortable with lovely views over river. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Hallways are a little worn could do with new carpet and redecorating. Showers not great as water pressure low. Wifi not that strong.
location of hotel
The room I was allocated was directly over the kitchens.............there was continuous banging and clattering until 10.30 pm then again starting at 6am. The room was cold...........no extra heater supplied in room.........unable to have shower in the morning due to cold temperature of room.
We loved everything about the hotel and surroundings. It felt spacious yet welcoming and homely. The beds were A+ wonderfully deep sleep creating. Thank you all for a really wonderful weekend.
The building location and ambience is delightful and why we keep coming back, but as standards have dropped so much I am not sure we will do so again. Great pity.
I have stayed here on numerous occasions but I am afraid the standards have now fallen. On arrival (January) the weather was freezing but both radiators (room and bathroom) were not working. Staff sorted the room radiator after I called to complain (why did I have to ?). It should have been checked before we booked in. The bathroom radiator never worked despite the member of staff saying he had fixed it. The shower was poor. The bathroom could have been cleaner. Great pity.
lovely big family room was very spacious and comfortable. We had a three course meal which was he best homemade food we have ever tried. A+ for food
foreign lady at desk was very rude and disrespectful
We liked the location
Quality of the food served at breakfast.
warmth of staff and rooms
Location lovely, very relaxing with good views of the Thames river, not far from Abingdon, Wallingford, Oxford. Great for walking etc. Rooms warm enough and a good breakfast selection. New Years eve buffet very nice. Would go back and stay as well as recommend to people.
Needs a lot of work doing to bring it up to a good standard, needs new carpets and paint job and windows could do with looking at. Didn't use any other facilities so cannot comment.
Spectacular location, extremely quiet.
Food mediocre rooms too hot
Breakfast - great selection and good portions; Dinner - good selection and good portions; Location; Staff.
Room was near flue from Kitchen, noisy and not very pleasant.
Staff helpful during the day, and pleasent.
Tried to phone night porter at 11.20pm to ask about party [which we didnot know about] which was quite loud but dispite trying to make contact no one was picking up,so tried mobile and again no one picked up time gave up 11.50pm. Later in the evening a car alarm started so phoned the porter and this time it was answered. I worry that if someone wanted to contact me at the hotel at night they would be unable to do so.i
The bungalow and the four poster bed, first timer for this
The noisy children in the breakfast room who's mother didn't seem to care what they did, including playing football with the Christmas borbles off the tree, out of order.
Location Stunning scenery Fantastic trails for walks and runs with the dog
Room was dusty and cobwebby Long time since I've had to fiddle with 2 taps to regulate shower temperature Lack of staff
Excellent scenery Being able to take you pet Location by the river
Sloping room No lift Road noise in bedroom Chip in toilet seat Dirty extractor fan in bathroom
I like the staff, although most did not converse at all!. and the lady at reception was helpful and friendly, and she seemed to understand my being deaf.
the room was dingy as it was located at the back and the trees allowed little light to enter the room. The windows were old and not double glazed. I thought that this time was no where near as cosy and nice as the last time when my wife and I stayed in a nice double room in this same hotel.
Manager who checked us in was excellent and very friendly. Bar staff equally so and the food was great. Night porter was brilliant! Even gave us breakfast at 5:30am :)
Shower didn't work.
