The food was ok. Hotel on it's way out. Nearly empty. Even so I was given a horrid dark room overlooking the Tarmac at the back and the Wedding Room. No smiles on my arrival and two male staff ignored me struggling with baggage up the stairs to my room. Waiter on first night dinner was helpful and efficient. Second night was awful. Two staff ignored me at the table for 10 minutes and I had to call for each and every part of the meal. Travelling alone I prefer not to draw attention to myself but I would not have received any service had I not called out. Was told in broken English that I would have to go to the bar to fetch my own drink to accompany dinner no I did not. Oh what a sad reflection of the recession. An engaged couple were trying out the food for their big day :}

Location by the Thames was excellent - very friendly staff and excellent value. Food was good too. Whilst the bedroom was lovely the bathroom was very tired and frankly needed upgrading.

Very nice staff. Location is sensational. Lovely lawns bordering the Thames. The buildings and rooms are a bit tired and need some investment.

Lovely setting. Nice large spacious rooms. Good professional staff. Very comfortable beds. Very relaxing. Would come again Cleaning trolly left almost permanently in narrow corridors. Did not expect to use plastic sachets (for mustard etc) at dinner time. Sauce and vinegar bottles on view. Would have expected condiment set to be offered. Bedrooms need re-decorating.

The staff were very friendly and attentive, the room clean and tidy. The menu was a bit sparse and the drink prices high. Bought same two drinks in nearby hotel for £3 cheaper ?

Friendly staff, good room, nice breakfast, great location. Just a comment really. We didn't use the WiFi but I think I read that it was BT openzone and £6.00 for 90 minutes which seems expensive if true.

Quiet location everything an overnighter requires on site. Luxury room was exceptionally warm which turned out well as temp. Dropped to minus 10 centigrade.We have stayed before in summer and enjoyed the views over the river thames and close proximity to wallingford. Food in the restaurant was frozen and microwaved..Fish smelt off and was not what I ordered. Vegetables wet yet undercooked. A disappointment as the service was friendly yet inexperienced. Room was exceptionally cold and made the restaurant a real upset. We later found out they were having troubles with c/h, so why not look after guests and put in heaters in the room and shut some of the doors. Hotel seemed to lack someone who can sort this sort of things out.

Location was good for Wallingford. Beds are comfortable, this is the 5th time I have sayed here in the last year or so. Good selection of reasonably priced wine. Restaurant not open, only bar snacks. Food is poor and not as advertised in the menu.

Comfortble room overlooking the River Thames. Not exactly a negative comment but in the hotel car park there is a sign saying "Don't unload your car untill you have checked in". The hotel has more than one entrance and if you ignore that warning (as I did) you might have to carry your case from door to door.

The food lets the hotel down. The breakfast menu offers kippers and smoked haddock which were both 'not served anymore'. The restaurant offered 'served on a bed of crushed new potatoes' which, on delivery were not crushed; small detail but why offer things that are not delivered. The creme brule was simply a serving of ready made custard, hence sloppy, with a crust of sugar which had been blasted with a blowtorch.

Love the Thames side setting. Lawn sweeping down to the river. Rooms were nicely decorated and had appropriate amenities. Just outside Wallingford- it's also a short (30 min) drive to Oxford city center.

We had a lovely room and the staff were very friendly and obliging. A beautiful setting, right by the Thames. I suppose the interior could do with some renovation, which I understand is being done in the New Year. We shall be back to see the results.
