Staff very helpful and breakfast fine.
Very tired building and bedroom. Stains on carpet that no amount of cleaning would remove. Would not choose to stay again.
The staff very friendly Food was very good but could do with a bigger choice Good price for the facilities
Same menu every night and very small choice although they did have specials every night. But because it was a very busy weekend (Goodwood Revival) they did run out some of the specials.
Staff were really friendly, fabulous new chef, great food.
Stairs to room, but only because of bad knees
Staff are lovely and friendly from arrival to departure; cooked breakfast was really good; bed was very comfortable
No toiletries or hairdryer Needs quite a bit of TLC and a good clean
Good service.Good food.Good pint of Guinness. What more would you want.
Nothing really.Location on a main busy road is probably the only downside. All else good.
Beer was excellent ! Breakfast very good choice and service was good. Rooms were clean and linen was always fresh.
Well furnished room of good size. Ample choice at breakfast including a full English. Very reasonable price!
friendly staff quiet location good breakfast comfortable bed
A lovely breakfast with very pleasant and helpful waitress
Being 3 floors up via narrow stairs
We were impressed by Simon, the A/Manager, who checked us in and looked after us during our stay when he was on duty, and where nothing was too much trouble. The other staff were very good as well. The food was very good and value for money Overall very pleased with our stay.
The company needs to update the furnishings in the separate guest accommodation to which we were allocated, also more attention to detailed cleaning and dusting.
A good location for our onward trip to Goodwood horseracing. Offered great real ales and food was superb! Excellent value for money!
The staff were very helpful and very pleasant. We have no complaints at all only that we would have liked to have stayed longer. A charming pub with a charming happy staff.
alison the manager
it all felt a bit tired
The food we received at breakfast was good. The room was adequate for the price - good to have tea making facilities.
Wallpaper coming away from the wall, toilet pan that moved when you sat on it. Shower screen had no seal and water unavoidably went all over the floor. Curtains that didn't fully cover the window which was at street level and had no nets or shutters. Yoghurt offered for breakfast but none available. Unenthusiastic staff apart from the cleaner who was great.
The pub cat was lovely also bathroom nice
My mam and I in a ground floor room in an annex room could do with decorating no nets or blinds at window (big sash window) and garage parking cars for repair direct in front of this no privacy. Only one flat pillow each. Stay for breakfast for 3 occasions asked for sweetener on first morning still haven't got me any !! No choice for yoghurt flavours
Attitude of staff was poor on first day, improved on second day with different people. Food was poor.
just off the A3m. Staff could not do enough for you, Clean and comfortable, Breakfast very good ,lots of parking .
A comfortable night's sleep. Nice white towels and sheets. Good English breakfast.
This is our 4th or 5th visit. We have had room 32 before and complained about the shower making a screeching noise, which wakes up the other person who's still asleep! Unfortunately, it still makes this noise! I had mixed feelings about having to serve ourselves with tea or coffee, but I suppose it makes life easy for the staff, and least your tea/coffee is hot!
Leaking sink, no bedside lamp - only ceiling light, noisy room, unfriendly manager
Pleasant staff. Comfortable bed. Clean room. Good service
Location - ground floor room- no net curtains, looking on to car park and unable to open window more than two inches. Limited breakfast choice - no fresh fruit. A bit pricey for what you get, given that £67.00 the week before had paid for a nice quiet hotel with pool and jacuzzi!
Room unbearably hot with no windows that could be opened as down stairs room directly on to car park. Requested upstairs room manager told me request was not received but then found it but refused to change room so didn't stay cost me for Ship and Bell and second hotel.
Leaving the hotel....
Cleanliness.... Unsafe facilities despite my concerns and complaints.
The staff were very helpful with the booking. They were friendly at breakfast and the night we stayed it was quiet in the annex. The location was ideal for us as it is close to the A3, we headed in to Portsmouth both days.
The TV remote did not work.
Good breakfast, quite location, very close to Portsmouth, good rooms, friendly staff.
Our room was on ground floor next to road, had to ensure curtains fully drawn to prevent people looking in.
