Barceló Shrigley Hall Hotel  

The room was really nice with a good size bathroom and very clean.

Very expensive for food and drink. Staff at reception were rude. Service at breakfast was a complete nightmare with staff giving our table to other guests while we were getting food from the buffet. Changing rooms in pool/gym were very dirty with lots of mould.

Very very bad room near a very noisy lift and a loud banging fire door that was opened and closed 200 times between 5am and 7am In as much as i requested the staff to change the room to another location or upgrade me at a cos that i was willing to pay for, they claimed they where fully booked - though from the website booking, it was transparently clear they had other rooms available, but the staff where either too lazy to act and had the wrong attitude, or where not bothered with customers requests.

It has a very nice location and the central building is beautiful. We got really good value for money on our stay there and had a lovely meal in the restaurant. Excellent range of food on offer for breakfast buffet.

It was a touch noisy with doors banging a lot but that's not really their fault.

I had to travel to the North of England to organise the funeral for my father who had just died, I explained on the booking that I needed a quiet room as anybody who has lost somebody close will know that it is difficult to sleep. I couldn't have been given a worse room, it had stairs just outside the door and double doors that led to the rest of the hotel so I was woken regularly and managed very little sleep. I could have asked them to change the room, but obviously with all the other issues I was dealing with, I decided not to have the additional hassle. Easily avoided if they had just taken time to read my notes on booking and used a little sensitivity.

Its location is very good nothing more

It needs a revamp it has a lot of ware and the rooms are very small

Room was comfortable with large modern bathroom and flat screen TV. Wedding reception room was impressive with good design features.

The bar drinks,at the Wedding reception, were extremely overpriced. £4.65 for a pint of San Migel and £6.35 for a glass of wine is extortionate. It is cheaper to drink in hotels in central London. If I was looking to book a wedding here these bar prices would put me off.

It was a very good hotel in a good location with good facilities

We were staying for a friends wedding reception and everything was handled very smoothly and well. The food both at the wedding and breakfast was good.

Some of the corridors were very cold so just be preapred. The hotel does need updating - particularly the bathroom and woodwork. The lift was very slow and we usually gave up bothering and just took the stairs. Also the hotel already had Christmas decorations up, despite its being only November.

The location is brill very romantic and we got a great deal on booking.com as not sure if would have paid full price. It had brilliant food, and the staff made you feel welcome, check in was quicka nd efficient as was check out, well worth a visit had evreything you could want would recommend this !

The staff were very attentive, the hotel is beautiful and my stay was perfect.

Everything! We attended a civil ceremony reception there where the attention to detail fron the hotel staff was impeccable. The hotel itself is beautiful inside (although it's abit like a rabbit warren and very easy to get lost in!!)

the spa had a veyr relaxing feel. staff were helpful but could have more knowledge of walks in the surrounding area.

the evening meal was ok, not very hot. the drinks were not served with the food. we booked at 8pm and felt the food was served in a rush
