This hotel is very grand and was in a lovely setting - our room was very spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Could not get a coffee late on in the evening and a tad pricey at bar.
- We had an amazing massage at the spa
- We were told 2 different check-out times. - The room seemed quite dated and needed to be renovated - The quality of the breakfast was very poor
Waiting time to get served in The Courtyard.
The spaciousness BREAKFAST! The consideration given to wedding guests. The chapel where the reception was held. Cleanliness of rooms and bathrooms.
View from the front of the building.
Noisy groups of golfers. Somebody's old socks in the wardrobe. Wallpaper peeling off in room. Toilet didn't flush properly. Next to a lift and a fire door. Hearing your neighbours audibly going to the toilet. Help yourself breakfast. Insufficient table clearers. Scuffed skirting boards. People eating own food in the Conservatory. Generally how it has changed from a more select and refined hotel to a slightly upmarket 'Butlins' without the rides.
Location, views, building, potential
lack of quality control, mediocre staff (some exceptions), too many corners cut
Location, spacious rooms, friendly staff, excellent food, great breakfast
Un comfy bed, very hot room at night, doors slamming very loud late at night.
Views and location
Waitin so long for evening meal and drinks .
Hotel looks worn out and tired and had too many weddings in the weekend ,
Location and grounds stunning
Service and value for money very poor!
The building and surroundings was nice
Rooms need updating for price per night !
Cleanliness of room Room was very dated/shabby Night staff had attitude
Room was shabby for instance sealant around bath, window frame in bathroom Very loud disco until after 1.00 am
The staff were great and there was a piano player there in the evening which was nice.
We had to ask for the bed to be re-made as it was not made properly. We also moved the bed to look for my mobile phone and found a half eaten sandwich and other food matters underneath the bed. The room was exceptionally tired an in need of refurbishment.
The outside aesthetics of the building and grounds
Decor. Rooms were out of date and dirty. Staff were extremely poor and uninterested. Awful breakfast.
The actual venue of this hotel is wonderful, surrounded by golf course and beautiful walks. Also has excellent bar facilities, and a wonderful entrance hall.
Room was very small with grimy walls and a tiny window and also stiflingly hot, as were the corridors leading to it. You could though switch on a noisy air con and leave it running all night. To be fair I did complain about the room and the lady at reception explained that a major refurbishment was due and she also gave me a discount
Access to bedrooms
Beautiful views, lovely entrance, bar area pleasant.
Room was a little small in the eaves, small matters of maintenance but lots of them. Communal area bathrooms are shabby. Food is good but limited (in bar) and very slow to come.
the location is amazing. staff was very polite and friendly room was clean. the bar and restaurant's food was delicious (even if a bit pricey)
our bathroom was old and not very nice (not for 100 quid per night anyway), although very clean. breakfast time laps I found to be short and actually didn't catch it the second morning (finished at 10am.. I mean, people who are on a holiday don't really look forward to wake up at 9am, right?) the pool was quite small and not really a place where you can have a nice swim. overall, just quite overpriced.
The location was great the staff were friendly
The room was in need of an update. Cracked floor tiles in the bathroom. Bathroom was a mish mash of all sorts. Twin sinks in cream, toilet and bidet were in apricot and the corner bath was white.
Beautiful setting, the wedding we attended was on a gloriously hot day and the photography opportunities are endless in the surroundings. The Tilden Suite was a perfect function room for the evening do.
There seemed to be no flow to the place, it's so vast that the wedding we attended was at one end of the main building then drinks on a terrace which was a walk then the reception was somewhere else. our rooms were quite a distance from all these locations too.
The location and views are excellent
The rooms needs a good lick of paint and a general tidy up. Our door key failed and it is a good 5 minutes walk back through a maze to get to the reception!
Staying as attending an event at the hotel
Very dated room, repairs & refit badly needed, breakfast room chaotic & badly arranged
Staff were good
too many stairs
Fantastic breakfast, clean, brilliant piano bar!
Spa got our bookings wrong and hence could not have full treatments. Said they were fully booked which is ironic as there was plenty of staff stood at reception doing nothing. No apology, just said they couldn't do anything about it. Wouldn't go back to the spa again
