Beautiful grounds Friendly atmosphere
Mattress too soft Evening meal very average
Good for a peaceful trip , nice surroundings
Kids not allowed to make a noise in the swimming pool , no Bar
Low cost. clean and convenient
Upstairs neighbour getting jiggy at 1.30 in morning. Sounded like a circus act.
Breakfast was excellent
The rooms are crammed next to each other with very little sound cover. As a result you could hear everything in the rooms!
swimming, breakfeast, location style of house, nice staff.
dated decor, welcome on arrival,
The building and grounds were beautiful, and the pool was modern and clean. We have a superior room which was amazing, full of unusual architectural features. The whole place felt like a retreat from yesteryear.
There's no bar and a policy against alcohol apart from at dinner. Not a problem for us, but maybe for others.
Staff were unfriendly and not very helpful
Lovely and quite lovely garden
A bit dated in the room towels very old.
Everything about this place is excellent. It is set in beautiful grounds, guiet, close to town. Beautiful pool and buildings, great value. All of the hotels in this chain are excellent.
We enjoyed the beautiful old building and the rooms I it were lovely, spacious and comfortable. The meals provided there were of high standard and were very much enjoyed.
The alternative sleeping quarters were less desirable with (in our case) many steps/stairs to overcome. Wifi was only accessible in the the Hotel Foyer.
The building, the spectacular music room, the friendliness, the gardens, the pool, the room
only able to stay one night!
Great grounds and excellent swimming pool
A beautiful house and really relaxed atmosphere. Staff were efficient and friendly and we loved the informal family atmosphere. Location is stunning, with lovely views as well as historic buildings and lovely gardens.
For the price, the shower in our room was only just adequate. Breakfast (at extra cost) was edible but basic and shared tables a bit of a lottery. We would have liked to have been told that we could reseerve a breakfast table to ourselves.
I like swimming pool .
I don't like the hotel .
The indoor swimming pool, everyone was very friendly.
Cleanliness Noiseless Easy reach to the bus stop and shopping centre Staff helpful attitude
Rooms carpets need proper cleaning to get rid of some dirty marks Phones necessary in rooms to contact reception and other rooms Menu list can be a good idea in guests rooms, most especially for disable an older people. Lift to the next floor is not a bad idea
I stayed during folk week which can be very expensive in Sidmouth, but the rate for a single room was very good. Not ensuite - but bathroom only 2 doors down and I never had to wait. Comfortable bed and very quiet. Not trendy and stylish, but very clean and tidy. Stunning building and only a very short walk into town and the seafront.
Pristine clean bathroom. Even the grout in the shower was gleaming and everything worked perfectly. Lovely Christian centre with very warm staff team.
The swimming pool
Room was very close to the kitchen - there was a lot of noise from the kitchen, loud members or staff etc. The room was very hot due to pipes so we had to have the window open! We were disturbed also by the practice fire alarm which we had not be told about. Also the shared bathroom was very messy.
1) No soap in toilets 2)Cold tap in room ran HOT. Hot tap also ran hot. 3)Bedroom furniture very shabby/ damaged. 4)Reception totally chaotic. One person dealing with booking in/out,all general enquiries, bar service which involved disappearing to kitchen for one drink at a time.Crazy. 5)Breakfast at a flat price of £7.95 even though our girls only wanted cereal.Obviously not paying that much for a bowl of cornflakes.Checked out and went elsewhere. 6)No mention that it is a Christian Guild Hotel. Only found out on arrival.
Helpful and trouble taking staff.
Very run down in some communsl rooms and particularly on the upper floors. Cold bedrooms. No heating when it turned cold.
The breakfast was all right
The room was too small, dirty and loud. Everything in the hotel was old-fashioned and it seemed to be more like a youth hostel rather than a hotel. All in all it wasn't worth its price. We wouldn't stay there again!
