We booked the cheap twin room for my daughter and I, It was definitely cheap which suited our budget. We both loved the pool and facilities there, we had it to ourselves for about an hour before going off to bed. it's a beautiful building on the outside and in the entrance.
-The decor in the room is dated. -The room was very warm, had to open the window but I guess that's a good thing . -The shared bathroom was down the hall
The pool was fantastic and the staff could not do enough for us we will, Looking forward to booking again
The rooms were a bit too hot and we couldn't turn down the radiators but other that that a perfect stay A****
Ideal for our stop over in Devon. Swimming pool wonderful and warm. People very friendly. Breakfast 5*.
Swimming pool is brilliant and very clean Breakfast was good Tv room/lounge is nice Great location Lots of parking
Heating was constantly on- way too hot!! we slept with the windows wide open which we felt a bit unsafe doing as we were on the ground floor in the annexe building. Service at breakfast wasn't great as some of the staff didn't speak very good english so didn't understand us. The entrance when you drive in an night is pitch black, needs lights.
The hotel and grounds were very good
The welcome could be improved. We regret that you did not offer a two course meal in the evening for we were not prepared to pay £19-50 for an evening meal when we could get a two course meal in town for £18-00 for two!!!
The staff were very helpful, fine value for money.
People talking in the corridors very loudly despite the signs asking for consideration to others
Swimming pool and beautiful well kept grounds.
Location and grounds beautiful and quiet. Near to town centre and local facilities. Swimming pool great and staff polite and helpful
Bed spring not good and uncomfortable and noisy guests. Complained and was moved no hassle the next night to another room and slept well and no complaint. Breakfast needed reminding staff that needed cutlery or coffee, or running out of buffet? Perhaps this can be checked by serving staff?
Quite, friendly, value for money, spacious room, huge windows (room 17)
I didn't get time to try the pool!!
Friendly, polite, helpful, quiet, non smoking, great breakfast and good value.
Driveway unlit at night.
Location. Swimming pool. Old building. Caring staff. Grounds. Interesting to eat the evening meal in sociable tables of 8, welcomes and introductions well handled by a host.
Building a little bit tired. Evening meal mass-catering style diminished the quality.
Attentive staff. Adequate parking. Opted for room only. Swimming pool open. Rooms and communal areas from the first floor upwards extremely dated. Pleasant one night stay although would not recommend for more than a long weekend.
Warm, comfortable room. Homely atmosphere. Superb architecture of main building. Lovely garden. (We stayed in the Annexe.)
Great food, helpful staff, comfortable surroundings.
Very much geared to the more senior age bracket - especially the evening entertainment, however we were aware of this and have enjoyed our stay despite this.
Value for money friendly staff
Difficult to find could have done with directions with booking
Bed was comfortable, room & en suite clean
Room heating not working the night I stayed
Everything about Sidmouth
Watching a film unwinding after a busy day with a pint in the tv room which was turned off at 23:30 with still over an hour to go ( not good )
Though we thought we knew Sidmouth quite well we didn't realize The Sidholme was there. Tucked away in lovely grounds, this beautiful and unusual but character filled building was a lovely surprise find.
Plumbing a little noisy in rooms and possibly a little inter-room sound insulation would be a good idea. Though not at all noisy sounds in next door rooms could be heard.
Location good beautiful building value for money
Tables were Large for communal dining we prefer to take a quiet breakfast just on our own but understand this is not what the hotel wants for guests.this was just a small thing and wasn't a big problem
My room with a view, the spaciousness of it, the sink, and the cleanliness. Also, the tea/coffee facilities were most welcome. Oh, and the quietude and peacefulness of it all. And the fabulous grounds, staircase and music room. A beautiful building.
The "end of corridor" bathroom facilities were : at the end keep going round another corner, through a fire door, and then further along the corridor on the left. A bit odd for a hotel with generally "older" clients; plenty of space in my room for an en-suite for instance. The beds in my room had extremely soft mattresses - I had terrible backache in the morning'- see above re "older" residents. The beds were basic and on wheels, plus they squeaked! No biscuits with the tea/coffee facilities ..?!
The hotel is within walking distance of Sidmouth beach and was certainly good value for money. The bedding was clean and it was great to have a bath with plenty of hot water, as well as a shower in the en suite. The room was centrally heated and is was good to have an additional electric radiator for extra heating in the evening.
The carpet in the room was grubby and the room itself smelt unused and musty when we first went in - an air freshener would have made a big difference. The en suite bathroom was very dated and the toiletries were not replaced as and when used.
Location and staff friendliness
We didn't realise it was part of a Christian chain and most visitors were there for study groups.we would have preferred our own table at breakfast
Great location, fantastic building in lovely gardens with the bonus of an indoor heated swimming pool.
A little run down and could do with a revamp.
location, gardens, friendly staff
no wifi in rooms
