Room was a disgrace. Mould on the walls. Stains on cushions. Bare un-painted 'vanity unit'!

Atmosphere,character,welcome,old fashioned charm of sleeping in a carriage!.Wonderful greek cypriot food.After a day of travelling in the snow was wonderful to arrive to a real roaring log fire.Close to York park and ride.Have already rebooked our next visit.

Location, staff, unique, exciting destination, different, good food, cosy room, design, innovative idea. It was a brilliant stay, more so than expected. Quirky and fun. Someone posted cold ? We were baking... The hotel served us well and had brilliant hospitable staff...

It is what it says on the tin, a converted railway carriage and with a bit more money spent on the rooms it could be a luxury unique trip but, sadly this would take time and money and let's face it what hotelier has that these days ! Saying that the management know what they want to do and are working very hard to achieve it... We were cosy, warm and well fed and watered. Hot shower and room with TV....what more?? Good Luck with the extension and upgrade everyone...

Everything. The staff are friendly, the food is good and the Greek themed nights vibrant. Lively atmosphere and great to stay in a four-poster former railway carriage room.

Nice idea. Attractive bar area. Accomodation needs a Full makeover! Very untidy areas outside around the carages and in adjacent staff areas. This does not help. Breakfast was late, staff were in bed. Novelty value but over priced.We had the 4 Poster which was a good size but had weird lace hanging from it Which had a spiders Web and spiders design. Not appropriate or in keeping with the setting....

A great place to stay, very quirky but would recommend you read the reviews first as its not for everyone. Luckily we had read them and came equipped with pj's, extra blanket and torch. A great place to stay if you want something different, the staff are so friendly and helpful.

Depending on who else is staying it can be a bit noisy with people going to their carriages as obviously the walls are very thin but to be fair it was only one night we were disturbed by people chatting.

Railway coach rooms jaded but apparently to be renovated soon. Everything appeared a little run down . SLightly chilly iin main buildings and restrooms but carraige toasty with extra heaters.

Location Buffet breakfast was limited choice.

Upon arrival, said had a booking and promptly shown to raurant...the staff are all greek, friendly and live on site in one of the Mk 1 carriages, Shown to carriage, room very small for two people , beds uncomfortable, windows not double Glazed, so expect to hear noise of trains and cars passing....was very windy night we stayed, so expect rattling of old coaches....which are well past their age and need of refurbishment... Room fad a radiator and a electric fire...which was a bit close to side of bed and curtains. Only one light in bedroom, light switch by door enterance...not near bed at all. Expect to hear your neighbours...thin walls. The area by bar was draughty ...only 5 seats around open fire, which wasn't roaring.... Breakfsst and dinning area adjacent to railway could be warmer...no real fire in morning....would of ben Overall place is past it...wouldnt recomend staying the night, can't speak for the delux rooms..

staff were really nice and helpful couldnt do too much for us, it is really quirky, dont expect it to be like a major chain hotel but if you have sense of humour it is fun totally different

the room was warm clean and the shower was fantastic but the room was in need of of refurbishment but the staff did say these room were being done in 2014

Was a different experience, nice change instead of ususal hotels.

The hotel was a little bit different from the normal hotel. Food was really good.

Room facilities were fair, shower temperamental and you couldn't watch TV in bed neither was there seating to sit and watch TV.

Good food although not everything on the menu was available.

Surprised and horrified to find the room booked (4 poster) was not available. We were told that it had been booked for a long time so they could not understand how we had got a booking! An alternative room was found which we had to take as we had arranged to meet friends that evening in the restaurant. If we had not, we would almost certainly have gone home a day earlier than expected (a drive of 120 miles) and refused what was offered. How can you book a room that the hotel does not have available?

Quite a novelty staying in a train carrge - friendly staff

Niose from train line - I thought it was an unused line. Basic bed & decor.

The staff were friendly, the room was clean, warm & had a comfy bed. It felt relaxed & relaxing. we had a lovely evening meal & breakfast. My husband loves trains & it is a dream location for that. Close to the Rawcliffe Bar park & ride which is a great way to get to & from York.

The bathroom needed an update - a clean shower curtain would have helped & a plug in the sink. I didn't like the fact that they didn't answer the phone & that is how I booked with you. Had I not been determined to stay at The Sidngs as a treat for my husbands birthday then they would have lost a booking

the service of the staff was excellent and food was great and we had a nice relaxing two days.

A very relaxed atmosphere during our stay. Excellent menu and served piping hot. Great for watching trains pass on the ECML with regular toots from the drivers passing. Will definately return.

The hotel had a unique idea being in railway carrages. The restaurant looked over the railway track which was interesting. It is reasonably priced but needs alot of work to update rooms.Staff were friendly. I would concider staying again but would want a four poster room which I booked originally but had been given to someone else when we arrived. I wouldnt say dont stay here but dont have to high expectations or you will be disappointed. Train enthusiasts would love it and the hotel could be fantastic with some work.

The rooms were very small and tired. The bathroom shower needed a good scrub with bleach to remove the black.

If you are a rail buff and like being next to the East Coast main line, then this is for you. However be aware that railway coaches are not well insulated, so in cold periods, like when we went, your bedroom will not be hot and cosy. Also walls are not well insulated, so if you don't want to listen to the couple next door having sex in graphic detail this might be one to miss.
