Stunning setting and building
room interior was tired.
Good functional rooms and facilities
Was on ground floor - person above up and about at 5am - timber frame building very squeaky floors!
refused to cook for residents this hotel is a total joke hotel without food wow
The grounds were pleasant and the facilities were adequate.
The pictures shown give the impression that you are staying somewhere much nicer than where your rooms actually are (main house vs modern dormitory block). I took advantage of a discount, so the 1 night stay only cost £60 (which was acceptable) but I don't feel it would have been worth the full £90 rate, especially since breakfast is not included. The TV didn't work with the remote provided. The cold tap in the basin only dripped water, so was useless.
Location, comfortable bed
Expensive food, lack of acoustic insulation between bedrooms
High quality room fittings, from the assortment of pillows to the thick sheets and bathroom fixtures., to the varied selection of teas. Clean, and very comfortable.
Nothing comes to mind.
The grounds of the hotel are superb but the hotel looked tired and in need of a good cleaning. After complaining about our original room we were offered a replacement room which was much better, but only available for 1 night.
Our original room was not clean and full of crane flies and spiders. There was damage to the building fabric and to the emergency exit door.
good room. good bedding
breakfast was poor. no pastries or croissants offered for the continental breakfast.
Location was fine and grounds were quite nice
Wifi was poor - very intermittent. Tried 3 rooms before I found one that didn't just feel like a bed of springs Rooms are in a utilitarian like block (not the country house) - not remotely furnished to the standard of a hotel: carpets are very stained, threadbare in many places, everything is very tired - walls marked/scratched, holes behind doors etc, gym is akin to a 1930's school hall with some tired equipment in it. General poor standard of upkeep and services - no hairdryer in room so requested one. First one burnt out within 15 seconds, got another. Second one only had one setting that worked (the one that won't dry your hair this year) - summed up most things about this hotel. Beware if you stay whilst an event/party is on in the marquee - no matter how considerate the guests, there is no getting away from the fact a non-sound proofed marquee holding a party is situated less than 50m from the rooms. The above is really just the tip of the iceberg. Staff were polite but unable to deal with complaints. No member of management present during my 3 night stay. Despite lodging a sizable complaint, no-one has contacted me since my stay a month ago and I have not received any refund as promised.
Grounds were well maintained. Staff very helpful.
Bed was uncomfortable and not big enough for two mature adults to sleep side by side. The bedside table dug into my shoulder. No plug socket near bed for CPAP machine.
Good location, lovely grounds, quiet and relaxing. For a business traveller it is ideal and so much better than other 'chain' hotels.
When I arrived in my room there was no remote control for TV and the replacement they sent was the wrong one
The staff The location The price
Breakfast was kept in hot tubs. However, the food wasn't hot, it was a bit cold. A bit pricey too I thought.
Friendly staff, great breakfast and clean comfortable room. Good location, shop and pub short walk down the road. Excellent value for money.
Clean rooms. Good wi-fi Nicely fitted bathrooms
Poor sound insulation - kept awake by other guest's snoring and creaky floorboards from the room above! Hard beds Restaurant food overpriced and mediocre
Dirty, Loud, food was appaling
Looked like student accommodation. Overpowering smell of wet gloss in the room as the entire corridor had just been re-glossed. Mould in the bathroom and around the window. Bedroom had cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. Menu choice very poor
Comfortable bed and helpful staff
Two leaking taps in bathroom
The fact when you book online you get charged more
Courtyard room , gardens
The main hotel was beautiful ,the gardens and views were really stunning
The rooms were in a anex similar to low cost housing or rather grim student accomadation. The room was full of cob webs, floors dirty , really in need of a refurb. We were given 8 keys to choose the cleanest it was apalling. I've never stayed in such grim accomadation. I stay in hotels 4 nights a week and it wasn't even cheap.
It was peaceful and comfortable. A truly beautiful setting.
The double room offered was too small and cramped. I asked for a twin room and that was much better.
nice setting in the countryside. Quiet.comfy bed.
rather small boring bedrooms.
The hotel advertises itself using a photo of a lovely old hall, the reality is that you are actually housed in dormitory like rooms. The rooms were barely clean and the bathrooms were poor and quite dirty.
Grounds...wonderful. Organisation of the wedding..really good. Food good with good service. Lovely main building.
Our accommodation was in another building, rather shabby and bed not so comfortable 'tho very clean. The sound insulation is poor as we could hear ordinary talking and movement in the room above us as well as their bathroom extractor.
