The best hotel I have ever stayed at. Room was very nice. Breakfast was included and made to order. The hotel staff was friendly, and even packed a lunch for my wife and I for our hiking trip (small reasonable fee).

Duty mgr was fantastic... Nothing was too much trouble. We were travelling.with our dog and she was made to feel very welcome. It felt like a home.from home...the setting was stunning and location perfect for exploring Skye. The food was average....meaning we ate in portree every night. The place could.do with.a lick of paint and some money spent on it

Comfortable relaxing lounges. Fantastic location, with good views, gardens, and walks. Excellent food, flavourful and well presented (compliments to the chef). Due to the delicious dinner we had the night before were looking forward to our cooked breakfast but noticed a charge on the breakfast menu. When querying this with the waitress was told that this was extra for a cooked breakfast so we went for the continental breakfast. My husband was very, very disappointed as this was a special celebration. We later discovered from the receptionist that this was not the case, the whole breakfast menu was included in the overall price! Re Rooms 22 and 23 - The bathrooms need attention, whilst the showers were functioning well, the overall look of the bathrooms were shabby i.e. loose toilet seat, loose and dripping hot tap*, scratched and worn doors, tile grouting and paintwork less than pristine. *notified the receptionist due to your green policy.

Comfortable hotel The food. Breakfast had food (cheese, salmon etc) from the previous day and was at best unpalatable. The cooked breakfast was also sub-standard. The coffee was dreadful. Glad we didn't dine in the hotel

Original period features. Space in and around the hotel to relax including a full size snooker table. Full breakfast and evening meals availability. No lights 1 morning due to power outage. No hot water 1 morning due to boiler failure.

Although the building is quite old the hotel in itself is located in a very striking place, in fact in the property there is, beside a green, also a nice brook. Inside there is a nice fireplace where you can sit having a glass of wine/beer The staff was very rude, the first morning there was none for the breakfast so me and my boyfriend decided to have a sit beside the table with pastry and juice and in front of another couple. We have already started eating when a waitress told us that we were sitting in a restaurant table and she ask us to move in another table carry all our staff. The corridor to get into the rooms was very dusty and the towels seemed dirty.

The bedroom was lovely, bed very comfortable. Could have done with bigger cups for the tea The en suite bathroom was grubby, broken toilet bowl, heater jammed against bowl so we couldn't turn it on as it would have burnt our posterior. Shower curtain had been washed once too often and was past it's sell by date. Sealant missing from around the bath.

The view from the bedroom was gorgeous, the room itself was comfortable and homely. I liked that we could control the temperature ourselves. Having our own door to the outside was a plus. The table and chairs and aspect was lovely. The house itself is grand and set in a gorgeous location. Although we did not sue the bar, it looked inviting and well decorated. We were on the whole happy with our stay, as we got the room cheap we felt that we paid 3 star prices and got 3.5 star service and facilities, however having seen your normal rates for the rooms, I can imagine that people paying those would feel slightly short changed. I don't think you would suffer if you offered slightly more basic services of a better quality rather than going more upmarket but falling short of some peoples expectations. The room was very clean and the standard of dressing the bed and the room was high. I liked having a bath robe, even if there was a huge hole in the armpit. We very much enjoyed the golf course even though we are not keen golfers, and went for a couple of walks around the grounds which was very pleasant. You did not specify a price for hire in your brochure and it transpired that we weren't charged for use of the course or the hire, but you would perhaps be best to make a feature of that for your guests so that they understand. The staff were very helpful and friendly, but I felt that they were stretched. There were often periods with no one at the front desk, and they were often busy so I didn't feel like I should take up more of their pressed time with silly questions, as a result we never got the information for the internet, not important, but I feel that your staff would benefit if you got a couple of extra members so they weren't so stretched, a further note on this, it took about 15 minutes for me to have 2 boiled eggs for breakfast, they were served 10 minutes after my partner got his cooked breakfast, we had a laugh about it, and after having been in the service industry myself for many years I don't mind as I understand what it's like when staff are stretched, but other customers may not be so forgiving. The red velvet sofa by the reception desk, although in-keeping with the period of the house, is tatty, and not inviting to sit on, you would be better to replace with a cheaper more modern perhaps plain alternative. The carpets are worn and could do with replacing, although not important, giving the cost and current economic climate. The exterior around the back is looking very shabby, and the outside could do with some TLC in general. I must say none of these detracted from our stay. The food was highly recommended by some people, however we weren't overly impressed. Not having an option aside from a minimum two course set menu meant that we could only afford to eat at the hotel one night of our 3 night stay. The drive could do with some attention, potholes need to be filled in. The bar around the side looks very univiting, not in keeping with the style of the hotel, and almost looks rough. In fact looks like it should be knocked down... Although the rooms we stayed in were of the same style, I can see the benefits of the view etc for having them, and it felt comfortable and homely.
