This hotel is steeped in history and sits at the side of the loch which is very relaxing a theme that is carried out throughout the entire hotel The presentation and quality of the food service in both the dinning room and bar area are excellent. The staff are very friendly and could'nt do enough for you.Attention to detail is evident in the furnishings and decor. We were surprised that the hotel was only rated as a 3 star as our previous hotel in Oban was also a 3 star and there was no comparrison. Unfortunately as this was a late booking and we got the last room available the only downside to the room was the outlook as it faced a brick wall would recomened anyone booking to avoid room 1.

The excellent food in the restaurant. Although we were booked for just bed and breakfast initially,we decided to dine in both evenings we were there because the food was so good. The ambience and views were also a wonderful bonus. We were a little taken aback at first by some of the infrastructure of the building, particularly the state of the outside of some of the building. However the service, attention and standard of cuisine more than made up for this.

We had a room which had been recently renovated with four poster bed, beautiful view to the front of hotel and a truly lovely bathroom with roll top bath and huge shower, unfortunately we were only staying one might and had to leave early next day to catch ferry to Harris.

Skeabost was friendly, efficient and welcoming. The decor is a bit 'tired' and could do with refreshing (eg: carpets in public rooms) but the staff were very helpful and friendly. The bar meals were good and the breakfasts substantial and well presented with a good choice. The hotel is presently listed as 3-star and this is about right. We were very happy with our stay but the price for a standard double room per night with breakfast (£110) is at the top of an acceptable range, particularly for an internet booking for an out-of-season stay made several months in advance. Perhaps a more modest £90 would be more appropriate for B&B, especially in a recession? However, that said, we would consider returning.

Beautiful country house in a very scenic location. Great common room with a fireplace and comfortable sofas. The room was really cold and the bed was rather uncomfortable and too short.

I liked the quiet location it was very rural but close enough to the town for evenings out if you wanted to go out I was disappointed with the menu selection as many of the choices were not available. I was told this was because the chef was on holiday but with guest still stayiing in the hotel I don't find this excuse feasible

It was a nice experience because we were curious to see how an old country house would look like. It was quite interesting from this point of view. Large dinning rooms and leisure rooms, but tiny bedrooms (at least ours was).

Faded grandeur. Good range of whiskys and a full size snooker table! You need to drive up a rough track to get to the hotel. The hotel is in real need of redecorating.

The hotel rooms are big and so are the bathrooms, very nice. Breakfast not very good. Small road to the hotle very bad, full of potholes. The small road to the hotel are in such a bad condition. Coming on motorbikes it was very dangers to drive on the road. The breakfast is very bad for the money you pay.

The staff were excellent very friendly and could not do enough to please us during our stay there .Lovely setting on the Loch and well maintained grounds. The staff made our stay there a very pleasant experience. The hotel could do with a facelift externally and new carpets and curtains in the public areas and rooms.
