Great olde world pubs nearby and plenty of variety in restaurants a short walk away. Room picture displayed for the Summit room on Booking.com was nothing like the room we got. Basically we paid extra, based on the picture. We were given a tired, tacky room that looked like it hadn't seen a decorator since the 1980'S. Staff said they know about the picture and have had several complaints, odd. Beware and don't be fooled into 'upgrading' to a Summit room. Location of hotel was good though and food was ok. Also watch out for the parking policy, they write down all your debit card details on a slip of paper, including the security number and you get the slip back when u return a parking permit. Having recently had my debit card fraudulently used I am appalled at this practice, particularly as they had already preauthorised the card. Would stay elsewhere.

It is set in a lovely part of the Lake District and quick accesss to the shops. The pillows were to hard and the extractor fan in the toilet was only supposed to carry on running for a couple of minutes after the light is switched off. When myself and my Wife went to bed and settled down it was still running a hour later so this added to the hard pillows you can guess i did not sleep to well.Other than that it was ok.

I booked tis hotel as a treat for my parents. They have stayed at the skiddaw quite a few times over the years and always rave on about how good the hotel is. This trip was no exception for them and they could not praise the hotel and its staff enough. Thanks for making the trip enjoyable for them.

We had come as family party for a pre-Christmas get together and we were made welcome immediately by the people on reception and the lovely Christmas decorations started the weekend off beautifully. The bar staff were equally as pleasant and very efficient. The rooms were obviously well looked after, perhaps a little dated, and the bathrooms clean and shining. It was a shame about the weather, but not the hotel's fault! We had a lovely weekend.

The excellent location in the northern lake district for walking or driving to beautiful places, The hotel is very good and the reception staff were excellent. The quality of the food and the limited choice of the buffet breakfast was disappointing.

Room had everthing one needed and the bathroom in particular was well appointed. Dinner with the guest discount was good value for money. The cooking was good without being distinguished, as was the service. Breakfast, both content and service, was excellent. Just about value for money.

The noise which woke us at 5am with the bins being emptied and then continued with market stalls being erected was appalling - the hotel should invest in triple glazing and use front rooms as budget rooms advising customers the reason for the discount. Expected luxury by booking 4 poster room and got medicore which is fine if paying a reasonable price but for £150 pn expected touches such as feather pillows/duvet, seperate shower - not over bath.

Being located in the centre of Keswick it is an ideal hotel to serve the local area, particularly for sight seeing. Lovely views and easy walk to shops and facilities. Food and service is excellent and staff very friendly.

A nice bath. This is the 2nd time I have stayed at the Skiddaw Hotel albeit 20 years ago. The Hotel in my opinion is now a little dated, with creaking floors, sloping walls, and guest rooms tucked into every nook and cranny. If I stood on my tiptoes and tilted my head to the left, I had a view of a mountain if I looked over the top of the air conditioning units on the flat roof directly outside of the window(room 17). The room was unusually warm, and the room dry even though the heating was off. The bed was a double(is that still common practice(not where i've stayed lately it isnt)).As for the cost, £180 a night!!. And another thing, you provide credit/debit card details and are informed at the time of booking that no fee would be taken. How come an £80 non-refundable deposit was taken?

Comfortable hotel centrally situated in Keswick. The only drawback we had was the noise from a nearby night club during the night. We did discover ear plugs in the bathroom the next morning!

The position of this hotel on Main Street is ideally located. Our room and bathroom were newly refurbished. The bathroom was compact but very clean and the shower was easy to control. Parking is ideal at the back of the hotel.
