The staff, especially at the golf course were very friendly.
The driving range but it is under improvement.
Spa treatments Entrance and hall ways great up keep in contrast to room Friendly check in staff and waiters
Run down hotel room in need of rebirth meant Slow dinner and breakfast service Old fashioned pool Mediocre food quality
Views and walks
Excellent golf facilities and beautiful golf course. Staff very helpful and courteous.
Hotel tired and lacking in those touches of luxury. Quality of food in restaurants mediocre.
We were served our cream teas & later on in Dukes grill by an outstanding waiter who couldn't do enough to make sure we were well looked after. The rest of the staff were all pleasant and friendly. Our bed was wonderful, so big & comfortable.
The waiting staff at the bar didn't once get my husbands order correct. The cleaning staff need to close the bathroom door to dust behind it.
Spa area dirty and in need of refurbishment,
Peace & quiet
Choice of food was disappointing.
Full of footballers walking around in their smelly sports kit, get changed boys.
Poor service in restaurant
Relaxing atmosphere great breakfast lovely friendly staff
The staff were very friendly and helpful
The fact that a service charge was added to the resturant bill and I was charged £4.50 for a bottle of water.
Dated 'standard' rooms
All the staff were very helpful whether it was on reception, in the dinning rooms or generally walking around.
Only one small compliant...I ordered sea bass on our first night and was given just one fillet! Did let our waiter know. The rest of the meal was fine.
All staff very friendly, breakfasts and diner were outstanding. Great round of golf at Priestman course.
I thought the surroundings were stunning. We stayed as part of a wedding party and the setting was lovely.
Our arrival was poor. As paying customers I would have expected to have had an offer of help with our baggage etc. Our room wasn't ready which was understandable but having travelled from Scotland for the wedding we would have expected an offer of assistance to fun somewhere to get ready. Thankfully another guest offered us there room to get ready in. We handed our gifts for the bride and groom over at reception which never made it to them and eventually has been located in the lost property ( they were worth a lot of money and thankfully the bride called to say they hadn't received there gift and subsequently she had to track it down!!! ) I can't believe they weren't contacted by the hotel. We were really excited about our stay on slaley as paying £150 for a room you expect a bit of luxury, we were disappointed as it felt nothing more special than a travel lodge. Sorry for being so negative but we were really looking forward to a romantic break away and were really disappointed.
Location excellent, staff amazing, atmosphere relaxing.
Pool area dirty with cracked tiles ( I cut my foot on one), showers damaged with mould growing...loungers faded and grubby looking, fountains not working....bedroom (standard) carpet stained, chairs grubby, mattress lumpy in the middle so couldnt sleep in centre, wallpaper grubby and faded, not worth full room price.
The facilities are very good as they have a range of restaurants and we enjoyed the golf course. Staff were very pleasant and attentive.
We felt that because there wasn't many other restaurants in the area, food was expensive for what it was.
Lovely facilities, suite of rooms with view of the golf course. We enjoyed a morning in the gym and pool recovering from family wedding we attended. Everything was spacious clean and comfortable
Prices at the bar
the golf courses & location
as above.also bedroom windows do not open more than an inch !
Stayed for our 1st wedding anniversary, Was a great weekend, bed was so big and comfortable :-) great breakfast especially having it in our room. Great service from all staff made to feel very welcome ,spa was very relaxing .defiantly be back .
The staff could noty do enough. They were friendly and responded to requests very quickly. On our day of arrival we were allocated a double room on the 1st floor - this is really the basement floor - no [roblem with that, the room was clean and comfortable . However due to electrical problems the lift was out of action for most of the day they fixed it but it broke again. My partner is in a wheelchair, I approached reception to ask if anything could be done about our room as the main facilities were on the floor above. With no fuss and very quickly we were given a new room with a free upgrade on the floor with acess to the resturants and bars etc. The Golf and Spa facilities were excellent (A little expensive but you know that before you go),again the staff couldnt do enough for you. Overall we had a really pleasent 3 day stay and I would recomend the hjotel and its facilities.
My only gripe over the three days we were at the hotel was on arrival we decided to eat in the Hadrians Grill on the first night with the intention ro eat in the Duke Grill on the second evening. I went to book the Duke Grill to be told the grill was closed that evening due to a private function. There was no information or notice telling guests that the grill was closed that evening. Had I known that we would have eaten in the Duke Grill on our first night. So maybe a notice on reception ??
The facilities are very good, pool, sauna, steam room, Spa... unwind with a great massage. 2 PGA golf course set in beautiful woodland, stunning views from all vantage points on the courses. The food is good, good choice, served by friendly staff. The beds are to die for, well not literally, best nights sleep in ages did not want to get up for breakfast !!!
Nice facilitates and location in the country.
Booked into the restaurant (Steakhouse) for dinner. Quality of food didn't match the prices leaving us a little disappointed.
Staff attitude & service Restaurant (food & decor) Location
State of rooms State of corridors / lifts etc Spa changing rooms
- The very helpful staff. - Location - Facilities
- Poor service in the lower ground bar. - Poor service at dinner in Hadrian's restaurant. - The chef has chosen not to have a wider selection of fresh vegetables and over-uses salt. The fact that I was charged £145 for the first night then £100 for the subsequent three nights which I did not spot until this morning.
