Can't fault at all wonderful place
The staff were very efficient and friendly and the hotel facilities, including the sauna and pool, very good. The setting was remote yet excellent, with many walks available around the golf course.
There was a background noise of water in the pipes which, whilst hardly noticeable during the day, was a nuisance at night. The signage on the walks disappeared half way round the one we did. (But we survived).
Poor service in dining room
Beautiful hotel and grounds, friendly, helpful staff everywhere, lovely room and great breakfasts.
Could be better sign posted from motorway. Address reads Hexham, but in reality, is nearer Consett. For money, room and bathroom could be a larger size. Also, could have more ticketed social events, planned for the festive period.
Friendly staff. Great location (if you want to be in the middle of nowhere). Immaculate hotel and room. Even saw someone blowing leaves off the paths in December! It's the little things. Generally a great place to stay and good value.
If there was one thing to complain about it was the air con / heating in the room. We were unable to have it on on a night as it was too noisey.
We enjoyed every aspect of our stay.
Prices at bar.
Leisure facilities including spa and golf. The views of the Northumberland countryside are wonderful. Very peaceful stay.
Disappointed with the newer parts of the hotel, where most of the bedrooms are situated. They were "ok" , had expected something a bit more special. It was a long "hike" to get to the restaurant, bars and reception area.
Choice of food was limited and slightly overpriced.
Loved every minute, couldn't fault a thing, amazing hotel in an amazing area
Reception staff and concierge service was brilliant very friendly and professional
Evening Restaurant staff very abrupt not very efficient, breakfast staff although bit more pleasant still not efficient
Slaley Hall has a beautiful setting, inside & out. Lovely comfy sofa, log fires & the staff are very pleasant. The Claret jug is a very welcoming bar/diner. Beautiful meals. The Spa was amazing, both the relaxation area & the pool. The golf course is challenging, set out & well maintained.
We booked the hotel for an extra night specifically for the Comedy night, it was cancelled, even the staff didn't know why. On booking in our room wasn't quite ready we were told to go for a drink and the reception would phone when ready. No phone call we had to chase this up. We asked for a quiet room with a view, we got a view of the main reception, boring view of courtyard, windows, road & noisy due to the cars booking in & out. The bed mattress was the worst I have slept on, two huge dips & a large hill/bump in the middle. The al a carte dinner menu was very limited in choice.
The staff were excellent special thanks to Neville. Lounges very comfortable. Recommend the breakfast cooked to order. Fabulous grounds.
A very tired room, placing two beds together too make one large bed is never a good idea. Air conditioning noisy and inefficient. Bathroom old fashioned. Once again inappropriate piped music which was far too loud. We hope Qhotels can make of this hotel what is possible.
Bar prices haha
The peace. And quiet and all the staff were so freindly we've been to slaley hall three times now and can't fault it we love to come down to unwind and relax in the country can't get better than this
A slight dip in the bed but very comfortable
everything, travel to a hotel for our anniversary every year and by far have never been made to feel so special , customer service and attention to detail second to none , 5 star service , thank you
nothing at all
All of the above.
Nothing to dislike
Splashed out on an evening meal in Dukes. Pricey but very good service and the meal was excellent and we had coffee and drinks in the whiskey snug afterwards. Early morning swim before breakfast was refreshing
There was a wedding function on when we arrived. Claret jug was bedlam with children running about. If you want a quiet weekend away may be worth enquiring if they have a function on first (though this didn't spoil our weekend at all)
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Quality of food Beautiful grounds in which to walk.
Wines expensive with a x5 mark up. Limited selection of wines.
The welcome from the receptionist wating 2 hours for a cold lunch, to be told they had run out of plates
Check in was very easy. The room we stayed in was very clean, and big. The bed was massive - like 2 doubles pushed together. Everywhere was very clean - the restaurants and rooms to the right of reception look stunning, but as we were part of a private party did not eat there. I would stay here again - if it was a very special occasion, and I was feeling very flush !
The concierge when they saw us carrying our own bags, I felt practically followed us into the lift to help. Yes I understand you top up your salary with tips - but not so over powering would be good! Only the claret jug bar served pints - at £4.20 each, I ordered from the bar menu - a cheeseburger - and was charged about £14.00, definitely not worth it when it turned up.
Everything, the friendly staff, the food and the room.Good value booking through this site.
the lady who served us on the evening in the restaurant was outstanding she was so polite and very friendly.
Having to travel back to our room with just a towel as the leisure staff would not give us robes. some of the starters on the menu are very poor, my partner ordered something and all it resembled was a lettuce leaf with a bit of bread crumb on top. (not good)
My room had some cranks in covers in Bath room roof
Loved everything, only little complaint was no beds by pool and lots of kids in pool but loved everything, have stayed at slayley a few times now and love it every time. The Dukes restaurant was excellent, loved our room we will be back and highly recommend you
Time span for Breakfast. Being able to go for breakfast after 10.00am as we didn't feel too rushed to vacate the room.
The food I chose was not exactly to my taste; starter was too salty (cod cheeks) and main course not enough sauce (lamb).
