Great place Ideal for university visits Close to shops Lovely breakfast Great value for money
Quite a few stairs inside as was on top floor
As it appears, cheap and provides a bed for the night. Handy location for the secc. Reasonably clean.
Bed had seen better days and you can hear most of the guest walking down the corridor from your room.
Being on the top floor as i have a bad leg and there is no lift
- price was reasonable compared with other hotels nearby - room was cozy
- no shampoo in the room - no elevator - found a hair on a napkin at breakfast
The room we were put in was on the top floor the hotel has no elevator but this isn't a problem for us, the problem was the floor stunk of smoke I got the impression the staff live up top and smoke in there rooms it was horrible so I got moved to another room after telling them spraying air freshener wasn't enought to hide it. The room I was moved to was smoke free but next to the reception and the acess corridor to it was also the acess to reception which meant they stored ironing boards prams and hoovers there lying about the floor. The room had dirty marks on the walls handprints in the bathroom chipped warren furniture and the last guests soap still in the shower, Wires hanging from the roof and constant noise and phone ringing so wasn't a good nights sleep I would avoid this hotel at all costs it's a disgrace that people are smoking in a hotel !!
good location for where we needed to go. bus stop just outside. train station 5 minutes walk away
very small room. very dated hotel. room seemed to be on a slant. bed uncomfortable. fire door right outside room which squeaked and banged everytime someone went through it. one towel between 2 of us.
Window wouldn't shut which made traffic noise difficult to ignore.
location breakfast good
carpets in communal areas shabby wall needed painting
Room was fine and breakfast was excellent.
Hotel could be doing with a bit of refurbishment.
Toast and coffee
Stayed in room 34. Floor board missing. Toilet flush broken and sharp. Shower pipe sticking out. Kettle doesn't got under tap in bathroom. Uncomfortable mattress. Can feel springs. Side lamps didn't work. Can't see tv if both lying in beds. Unfriendly staff. Didn't ask how our stay was. Didn't ask how food was. Eggs under cooked. Have stayed in better hotels at the price of £90 p/n. Horrendous. Will never stay with smiths again. The place needs a serious make over and modernised.
It was close to where I needed to be, but there were hotels much closer that were unfortunately booked
Was thoroughly disappointed. Will not be. Going back.
Handy for shops but in quiet area. Bed comfortable, plenty of good pillows; very clean; good reading light; mirror to make up; shower clean and efficient. Staff pleasant and helpful. Breakfast cooked to order.
Not en-suite, but at £41 I can't complain.
"Free parking" means parking for about 3 cars. When it is full, reception advised we could just feed the metre on the street. Shared bathrooms, tiny rooms, one towel for two people, towel not changed, bed was tiny. Was very cheap but wasn't expecting this "cheap".
Great location Breakfast included Low price
There were two reasons for us to book this hotel and both failed. 1. Parking spaces. It was said that there are plenty and you don't have to make a reservation in advance, but they were full 2. Internet. The wifi network was available but not accessible in the whole hotel with different devices. Plus the showers were very dirty
Location for the University and a particular restaurant we were visiting.
Very disappointing from the litter strewn street, the half drunk can of coke on the entrance stairway, the miserable bed room décor peeling wallpaper, the poky family room and tiny bathroom with no shelf space for toiletries, no glass or holder for toothpaste, a shower with very variable temperature, the location of room number 3 (was to be 24 )right next door to the 24hr reception which meant hearing through paper thin walls the phone ringing until past 3.30 am or the continuous conversation of 3 staff members throughout the night -Needs major upgrading and modernisation to be acceptable. Cost £100 for the night -couldn't face the breakfast - left as soon as possible - web site photos totally misleading.
Great location Nice breakfast Inexpensive Friendly staff
Hotel in need of facelift Room very small At breakfast we were able to have pot of tea at table but not pot of coffee due to Health & Safety!
Great location for eateries and walking to sites.
Very basic, as expected by cost.
Everything worked, breakfast was plentiful, coffee was real. It was stunningly cheap!
There was an incredible noise in the street for about an hour in the middle of the night. Some kind of machine. Parking was unreliable, the car park at the back of the hotel was very small and people had to move to let others in an out. When they were staff, getting cars moved was easy - for other residents, less so.
The location was close enough to the SECC & to the centre of Glasgow to allow us to walk to both. It was easy to find and close to the M8. Many good places to eat close by
The room was on the 3rd floor with no lift While the hotel did have wifi, the signal in the room was too weak to connect to so we had to take our lap tops to the dinning room (in the basement) to do any work. We had to remind the receptionist 5 days out of 7 to give us enough towels and twice they forgo to removed dirty ones Breakfasts were very basic, after 7 days were wanted some variety.
location was good and liked beingable to open my window in the room and relaitive lack of traffic noise.
attitude of staff at breakfast a particular white female waitress, grubbiness/shabbiness of bedding, carpets and decoration throughout. the shower/toilet was clean but felt rest of room and building was not so did not feel relaxed.
uncomfortable room, difficult access (4 floors and no lift), lack of public facilities, not very clean, poor value
Staff were very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was good although a little limited in choice for anyone with dietary requirements. Everything in the room worked, good shower, quite comfortable.
The room could have been cleaner, the floor needed a hoover and there was a bit of grime in the bathroom. Also we had to ask for enough towels and toilet paper, and the bed was not made properly. However overall it was good value for money.
