I liked that it was close to city and it was comfortable
Staff weren't the cheeriest of people and the shower wasn't the best.
Excellent West-End location, very cheap price (£45 for a double room), 24-hour reception, comfortable (but VERY narrow) double bed, room facing the street acceptably quiet, brand new en-suite bathroom with good electric shower, Scottish breakfast included, easy and free street parking (at the weekend).
Abrupt (but efficient) service at reception, endless stairs and corridors (no lift), weird derelict furniture in the corridors, décor outside the bedroom very scruffy and run down, a seedy character hanging around reception when we checked in.
Reception staff member very helpful.
Room clean. Staff very pleasant. Parking on street free after 6pm at weekends. Great price for an overnight.
Not really within walking distance of Hydro or shopping area. Radiator in bedroom not on so cold in the morning.
Good location, easy to find. Comfortable room. Good breakfast.
Badly in need of refurb. Broken tiles in bathroom and generally tatty, though clean overall. Parking is on street with parking meter. No dedicated hotel car park. Skylight in our family room opened all the way, and being at waist height and on top floor could be a safety risk with younger children.
We had a very comfortable stay in The Smiths Hotel. Breakfast was lovely, juice, assorted cereals, cooked Full English breakfast, toast and tea/coffee. Our room had been recently refurbished and had a brand new en-suite shower room, new bedroom lights and decor plus a new tv - all tastefully modern.
No bad experiences at this hotel I'm glad to say.
The price was good, the location was fine, the breakfast was tasty and there was hot water, so it was a place to stay. Some of the staff were quite lovely, even parking behind us at night so we wouldn't be blocked in in the morning.
The ad states there is free parking, but when we first got there, they argued saying there was no guarantee of free parking on the website. This is untrue but thankfully we were able to get a place. The room was tiny, but when you cram 3 beds into one room, this is unavoidable. The bathroom was clean-ish with many stains, but the tiles were coming up from the floor.
Normal room, clean bedding and towels, good breakfast. Remember the value when you write a review!
The location of the hotel was fairly close to some main attractions and restaurants. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We booked this hotel last minute and were pleasantly surprised what we were able to get for out money. The decor in our room was out dated but overall very clean. Nice place to put your head down. Our room consisted of 2 double beds and a single bed. It was on the same floor as the reception desk which we didn't mind and the noise wasn't an issue. Breakfast was a plus! Plenty of tea and coffee and a good kickstart menu with traditional English breakfast. Staff was great and didn't Rush is to finish even when we stayed long after breakfast was done.
The restroom in our room was our only complaint. It was very small and the shower did not work. It was something that could easily be fixed by changing the water heater. We had no hot water to shower and had to use the community shower which was just a few steps away from our room. Other than that really no complaints.
Walls between rooms like cardboard, far from ideal with noisy neighbours. Asked to change rooms and was told I would have to pay extra for this. Will never stay there again.
The price was extremely high for the low quality of this hotel. Realistically you're looking to pay £40 for the room as this is a travellers hotel, bordering on bunkhouse.
NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING
THE SHARED BATHROOM WAS ABSOLUTLY FILTHY THE SHOWER HEAD WAS BROKEN ON THE DAY OFF ARRIVAL THE FIRE DOORS IN THE CORRIDORS WERE JAMMED OPED WITH DUST SHEETS AND TIMBER LYING ALL OVER THE PLACE STAY AWAY FROM THIS DIRTY HOTEL
Narrow stair well and no lift available and not much space which made it difficult for us as we had a push chair
Location was very handy for Glasgow city centre, airport (bus stop right out side hotel) and the restaurants around were fantastic.
First room had no hot water in the shower and we were initially told that it was due to number of guests but it was actually a faulty shower unit. We were moved to a much bigger room but the shower in there too was terrible - either hot or cold. One bed was so close to the en-suite entrance that we had to move it to get access. The double bed was jammed up against the window that you slept with the curtain in your face. This was not a clean hotel and was run down. Don't even think about asking the lady cook to do a fresh poached egg - you'll hear her moaning about it through the remainder of your breakfast.
Free Wi Fi. Could take food and drink to your room. Friendly staff.
Not the cleanest place but not dirty by any means.
Location good. Breakfast excellent at no extra cost, can't go wrong Wifi excellent in room.
Didn't like paintwork on walls, doors etc. Quite shabby, fresh paint everywhere would massively improve this hotel. Excellent value though for what we paid.
the staff were really nice big room. Despite my didnt likes it was a lovely hotel. it was perfect for what i needed it for hence just a 1 night sleep.
paper thin windows we could hear every car and person as they go past. The pillows and covers had a weird scent to them so i slept with my clothes on and head on my coat. The beans on my breakfast were very greasy :( ok hotel for a 1 nighter but wouldnt stay any longer than that.....
courteous and pleasant staff, room clean and comfortable breakfast excellent location of hotel centre of city easy walking distances to most attractions.
no lift! room situated on top attic floor a bit of a climb not so good if you suffer any mobility issues it was the last flight of stairs that both my friend and I struggled with and in fairness due to hotel being fully booked we were not able to request a lower floor.
Bed too small,1set of towels for 2adults,leaking sink heating kept going off paint on curtains very noisy
Having read some other reviews was a bit concerned what we might find. Needn't have worried, the room was clean warm and had all the facilities needed. Breakfast was well cooked and staff friendly.
Could have done with more than one bath towel.
The breakfast was very good. Staff is nice.
Quite run down. Carpets threadbare. Wires and points hanging from wall. Very tight on space.
Excellent location for SSE Hydro. Smiley staff, excellent value for money. Good breakfast Would definately stay again.
Nothing negative. Old building, tired decor but if you want 5* pay 5*prices!
Breakfast was good. No problem finding parking. Staff was very friendly
The place looks like it's falling apart, no double-glazing meant room was drafty, bed wasn't great.
Its close to city center and local restaurants and pubs nice place
There is no lift in building and my room was on third floor ,once I was under shower and suddenly the hot water stop working ,and no pressure
