Dating back to the 1800s, Gretna Chase Hotel offers stylish rooms, a restaurant and bar on the border of Scotland and England.
Score from 65 reviews Wonderful
A 2 minute walk from Gretna Green Train Station, Gretna Hall offers both traditional and modern rooms with private bathrooms and free parking. The English border is less than one mile away.
Score from 401 reviews Good
Days Inn Gretna Green is close to highways M74 and M6, and within easy reach of Carlisle. It has free Wi-Fi and free parking. Newcastle-upon-Tyne and County Durham are about one hour from the hotel.
Score from 321 reviews Good
This family-run hotel in the center of Gretna offers a warm welcome in homey surroundings. It is near to Gretna Register Office, Anvil Hall and the famous blacksmith's shop.
Score from 153 reviews Very good
Very nice hotel, restaraunts meal was excellent.would recommend this hotel.
Everything especially the friendliness of the locals in Gretna Green
The fact that we only stayed for 2 nights
Nice comfy sofas in lounge. Near motorway.
The room was spacious and very comfortable Lovely breakfast and a good room service menu Highly recommended
Location friendly staff lovely clean room and great food had a relaxed friendly feeling about it
Nothing loved everything
Beautiful rooms Lovely food Excellent location
Just a small gripe there were 2 wedding parties in on the night I stayed and the staff were run off their feet, more staff could have been good
lovely room with extra space and view enjoyed the softness of the bed and a nice touch with the quality of the bathroom towels on a heated radiator. Bar food very good and the staff very helpful
the lighting in the restaurant for Breakfast seemed a little dark !
Location as I was travelling between England/Scotland
All was good
Liked the space and comfy bed
No fridge in room
room was fine, meal was okay
black mould on bathroom walls, smell of mould in bathroom. Reported to receptionist on checkout. response was "oh!" When I enquired if that was the extent of the response, she said 'Someone will look into this this for you' 3 days and counting and NO response from the hotel, so at a guess they really don't care one way or another. NOT good enough.
Fantastic location, very near old blacksmiths. Food was excellent as was the service.
Nothing at all!
From the front desk reception, to the matre d, to the cleaning staff as well as the waitress's, this place is a train wreck! From the moment we checked in the girl behind the counter couldn't have cared less! The housekeeping staff are hopeless -the bedcover and sheets and not even been straightened or anything put away. We went for dinner at their restaurant with a friend who lived in the town, were told fully booked - but they found us a table! We watched and half the tables in the restaurant stayed vacant until after 9pm. The breakfast waitress was sniffing and using the back of her hand to wipe her nose! So gross - they should have paid us to stay there - never ever again.
Comfortable, well furnished room. Nice breakfast before our drive to Glasgow. A problem with our sink which was rectified by the staff very quickly.
Nothing to dislike
The fact that it is a wedding destination/venue and you are unable to check in at a reasonable time to attend timed weddings makes for poor organisation on the part of the hotel. Unless it's deliberate in order to make more money!
Located in a lovely area, hotel was lovely, would stay there again
Location is excellent, room very comfortable but with reservation until we were able to change
Had to change room after first night as the room was immediately above a noisy generator and noisy motorway. Room needs triple glazing to combat this. I could not sleep through the constant noise. The view was poor - large generators, along with car park and refuse area. Second room at the front was much better (and what I would expect for the price)
The friendly welcome from the reception staff set the scene for our short, but super stay. Our room was spacious, the added warmth of a self-operated electric fire soon dispelled our memory of the wet, cold journey north, the tea-making facilities completed our feeling of 'being at home' and, with a further long drive in view the following morning, we were soon in bed where we slept undisturbed until the morning. Wet again, but friendly dining-room staff, and a hot, tasty breakfast set us up and off, following clear, precise directions from the day staff at reception. It's probably forty years since we stopped at Gretna Green, but we sure hope we wan't have to wait as long before the next! Thank-you everyone. Booking was so easy too.
Having to leave so quickly.
Large and well equipped room
We arrived at 11pm after a long and difficult drive from Sutherland due to the awful weather conditions and road closures. The person on the desk, did not give us any details regarding breakfast and where we would go for it. There was no one to greet us when we arrived for breakfast, and we had to go and search for someone to help us. We had to find out ourselves where and what was for breakfast. It certainly was not the service we expected.
Charming and spacious room, pleasant bar open 'til late, Plenty of free parking,
Room service food was poor
Great size room and bathroom. Clean and spacious. Excellent food in dining room with lots of choice. Plenty parking too.
Love the balcony room, the setting of the hotel. Bar staff very friendly as was the reception staff. Breakfast was brill. Hotel is a little pricey but was nice to return for our 1st Wedding anniversary
Although the menu had not changed the steak, ale & haggis pie was not the same as last year and was not half as good. The restaurant is expensive and only small portions. check in was late was 4pm before we got our room.
Only 1 very very small criticism there was no bottled water in the room
Nothing no sleep at all due to bed being like sleeping on a log.
Our bed was like sleeping on a log. Breakfast was a shambles, far too un organised our table was given to another person leaving us standing with our breakfast in our hands. Overall not happy at all with our stay. We did complain at check out but didn't get a very good response.
Hotel very clean and staff really friendly and helpful. The meal we had in the restaurant was excellent and breakfast was plentiful.
Drinks prices were a bit on the expensive side.
we had the rose suite and it was fabulous..couldn't fault it.......
balcony area was a little sparse could have done with a little more furniture plants etc
