This grand hotel has a great location in the heart of Inverness, yet in a quiet area with splendid views of the River Ness and Inverness Castle.
Score from 609 reviews Good
Friendly and helpful staff, especially the owner Mario. Quiet room, good night's sleep. Breakfast was great. Wifi in room.
TIFFANY & DAVID ? were fantastic , couldn't be more helpful . Total assets to the Smithton hotel. Thanks to you both for a great stay.*****
Very friendly staff and locals. Spotless large room and very good food. Excellent value for money
Music in the bad far toi loud.
Staff friendly and helpful
the facilities were very clean and very adequate and the staff were really nice and helpful.
we should have been told well in advance that our room was above a private function going on that night including incumbent DJ. The music and DJ were so loud we could not even hear the TV (DJ liked his own voice and even sung along with summer loving from grease. This went on till around the 1am mark and as I was getting up at 5-30am did not leave much time for sleep.
Staff very helpfull, breakfast good, rooms good and facilities imcluding wifi all good....
Nothing really, new the location before booking so not a problem, taxi to city centre only £8.
Hotel was clean, comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent and staff were friendly. We would go back if we were ever up that way again. Thank you
WiFi worked well. Breakfast was good. In a quiet spot away from the busy areas but a short drive into town.
Multiple steps in narrow corridors to get to some rooms could put some people off.
Cleanliness, quiet, good breakfast and the staff were excellent. The adjoining rooms worked well for our family.
Good price but seems to be overrated at 7.8. But service was good, helped with bringing our luggage upstairs two flights of stairs. Breakfast was really, really good.
Hard to find the hotel even with a satnav and post code (too many Smithton somethings in the area). Very narrow stairs and very small rooms, especially the showers en suite were ever so tiny. Two flights of stairs were one too many for a tired traveler.
the hotel was easy to find and perfect for the airport and there was plenty of parking. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good, we had both dinner and breakfast.
we were on the 2nd floor and the room had a sloping ceiling which made it difficult for my husband. In future I would make sure I asked for a first floor room. There was no lift. There were heavy doors banging around bedtime.
In a convenient place and early breakfast available
Staff not very friendly, broken toilet seat, night porter not available when we tried to ring him at 3.30 a.m. due to neighbouring room being noisy and going out but leaving bathroom light on, hence the fan was on continually and kept us awake!
Easy to get to, quiet area only short drive in to the city. Great breakfast supplied. We ate our evening meals there too food was very good and good friendly service.
Noise travelled with people getting to their rooms etc and some bins downstairs but that was all gone by 7.30pm and all quiet for a good nights rest.
location in quiet suburb... parking place... willing personnel... good scottish breakfast... but...
... at the term of our stay there´re a big and terribly noisy family party with a discotheque... to 1 a. m... (friday night)
Proximity to Culloden field, pleasant staff
This is a local drinking hole which just happens to have rooms! We had 6 rooms and 10 persons booked in the hotel - it was a very poor review from all our clients. Loud music from the bar could be heard in all the rooms, soft beds, unprofessional and 'could not be bothered' staff.
Quiet location. Small and friendly.
I am used to a king size bed with a super king size quilt, the double quilt on the bed was a bit small ! King size quilt would have been nicer !
Small but cloze and friendly staff! Superb environment!
Very friendly staff and food very good with good choice
noise from people using stairs outside room and some maintainance issues in bathroom
The barman on reception was very helpful and friendly on the evening that we arrived. The cook/receptionist on duty the following morning was entirely the opposite - unhelpful and rude! The waitresses though were lovely and they were apologetic for the cook.
The location is not very inspiring for someone who wants a taste of the Highlands and Gaelic Scotland. It's a pub that could be anywhere in any run down estate in the UK!
Plenty of parking Little traffic on side road Easy to find Large opening window good for hot days Good restaurant & breakfast Close to Culloden battlefield
Noise from pub patrons at night when window open
Staff - all were brilliant and eager to make our stay a pleasant one. There is an abundance of parking spaces. The hotel is just minutes from the A9, making it easy to access locations further north or south. It is also minutes from a retail park including a cinema and eating venues. Inverness town centre is also easily reached by car.
Good links to local buses into Inverness.
The restaurant food was very bland and over-priced. Breakfast was OK, but basic. Room quite small and cramped. No lift.
Very very helpful guy at the reception.
Down is a pub and it was quite noisy on Friday evening.
Breakfast exceeded all expectations :) Room equipment, including even small fridge; wide parking
There should be a notification that a shower switch (???) is outside the bathroom
