Enjoying panoramic views over the harbor and Torbay, the Quayside Hotel consists of 6 beautifully converted fishermen's cottages and retains a coziness and charm rarely found today.
Score from 202 reviews Very good
Situated in Churston Ferrers, The Weary Ploughman Inn is a pub and restaurant, with rooms.
Score from 109 reviews Excellent
Next to a golf course and an old church, and one mile from Brixham Harbour, this 12th-century manor has good local food and nice rooms with historic features.
Score from 167 reviews Very good
Only a 10-minute walk from the River Dart, the Manor is located just 1 and a half miles from the beach at Broadsands. Free Wi-Fi is available and private on-site parking is available.
Score from 90 reviews Excellent
Super room - comfortable bed- Great hosts - Could not be better for travel in Torbay and beyond. I will return Mike
Very friendly staff
Within easy walking distance of the shops, bars and harbour.
Small, cold room directly above the bar, cold dining room, owner's husband very unfriendly. Shower leaked and thin old shower curtain stuck to you. To be fair the owner did give a partial refund but we won't be going back.
Value for money Friendly staff Good breakfasts (except tomatoes)
Breakfast tomatoes have no flavour
Good location in the centre of Brixham. Excellent cooked breakfast served by a charming young lady. Offered what we were looking for over New Year holiday as simple bed and breakfast
Entrance and bar area rather depressing mainly due to no fires. people or atmosphere. Unable to watch tv in bed as positioned too high resulting in distorted picture. Outside lighting not usually turned on. Last time for breakfast 9 am..!!
The bed pillows were very uncomfortable!
Great location Very friendly staff and hotel has great character and pleasant atmosphere this was my 2nd visit and I will be going again
My partner and I stayed at the smugglers haunt as a weekend away to see my son. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. would recommend any to stay at the smugglers haunt. We will be booking at the smugglers haunt in the near future.
It had everything I needed for a comfortable nights stay.
Friendliness of staff, location of hotel to town, and a relaxed atmosphere.
The location of the smugglers inn was great, just by the town and harbour.Very friendly landlord and the room was very clean and the breakfast first class.
I really can't find fault, and would recommend it to family and friends.
Hotel was clean, breakfast was wonderful,
We had no sleep due the drunks shouting and swearing most of the night, so bad we left in the morning although we had paid for another night, it was a big birthday celebration which was spoilt, not the hotels fault but unbearable, wont be going back to Brixham no police for over 30 minutes to sort out the louts
Pleasant staff and a very good beakfast
Narrow stairs to get to the top bedroom! Also car parking was inconvenient.
Great location Helpful staff Great bathroom (recent renovation?) Comfortable beds Good breakfast
Decor a bit tired
Comfortable, friendly feel. Warm welcome and sense of history/nostalgia
Difficult parking on arrival in nearby pay and display. Not obvious from usual approach.
I stayed at the hotel for a short break with my mum. It is situated in the centre of the town close to all facilities. The owner was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our breakfast. Irons and ironing boards were located conveniently throughout. Also there were plates and serviettes for guests to use for any takeaways - what a good idea.
As per other comments, there was lots of seagulls squawking early in the morning, but that is to be expected in a busy fishing port. Could hear the church bells but not during the night but that is traditional in Brixham and is linked to the hymn that was written locally at Berry Head. The only thing I wished I had paid heed to was the parking as the nearest car park is short term so we did a bit of a tour of the car parks on the day we wanted to spend in Brixham although it had different restrictions for parking overnight which was fine. The hotel is however very convenient for anyone who is travelling on public transport as the bus stop is only a short walk away.
Prime location - easy access to shops, pubs & harbour. Quaint building obviously very old with nice period features. Pleasant, cosy atmosphere with a good breakfast served with a smile Rooms clean tidy & recently decorated. Weather was a pleasant suprise - the sun came out as we passed the Brixham town welcome sign.
Water was only just warm enough for a wash; too cold for a shower. Lots of stairs - but that is mentioned in the description. Not the hotels fault but no indication the Torquay ferry wasn't running, on the Sunday of our stay, owing to strong Easterly wind. It took someone in the queue to ring up to find out or we would still be there next morning.
The age of the hotel and the history of Brixham the staff were very friendly I was made to feel very welcome
No parking outside hotel
Clean room, functional
scruffy, unhelpful and late breakfast not much good for business travelers
The room/ bedding/ en suite were spotless and the building had a lot of charm
There was a bad smell throughout the B& B, I suspect the carpets needed a good clean. The parking situation was unexpected as I didn't know the area. Had to park in public car park a short distance away.
we were lucky to be there when brixham fishstock was on you get chance to visit the fish market they have groups on live music craft stalls cooking demos and stalls showing all the different fish landed there also a chance to go a board one the trawlers
Hotel was good, great location.Very clean and good facilities.Liked the ironing board and iron outside room if needed. Also plates and knives and forks were at hand if you needed a takeout.
The man who was running the hotel, i though was rude and needed a course in hospitality. Experienced the manager aruging with staff members, not good.
Typical pub accommodation of the past. Small, rather over-furnished, room but this is an old building in the town centre so fair enough. Our room was over the pub entrance and we were subject to the smoke and phlegmy coughs from drinkers standing in the doorway to smoke. Breakfast was basic. Our shower struggled to get past warm and when I politely mentioned this to the owner when leaving, thinking it would be helpful for him to know, I got the classic response "well no-one else has complained about it"! As if I travel round the country making up faults with hotels for a hobby? Our friends stayed at Brixham House which was cheaper and had very good breakfast.
The most efficient check-in and check-out process of all time. Well appointed room with loads of complimentary tea and coffee.
