Everything, friendly and very elegant.
It is a bit hard to find in the dark. Watch out for a right turn soon after the fire station as you leave Durham
Jim was lovely and so welcoming. The breakfast was really nice, the room was huge and bed comfortable. We will definitely stay again :-)
Very friendly and helpful. Good size room .. fresh milk in hallway fridge a nice touch
fabulous big room, amazingly comfy bed, great breakfast
bathroom was across the hall
The whole experience
Lovely clean and spacious room , bathroom was a good size too. Very hospitable hosts who offer a fantastic breakfast , the black pudding is not to be missed !
warm welcome and extremely comfortable stay
Very well-furnished, comfortable, rather hard bed and pillows, warm, sizeable room, good facilities, good breakfast and plenty of it, pleasant staff. Mostly excellent value for money.
Wifi that was out of use most of the time we were there, due to faults which failed to be corrected. Rather hard bed and also hard pillows. And excellent-looking shower that was barely usable due to shallow shower-tray. Flood narrowly averted!
Wonderful host, spacious rooms, and very nice breakfast.
The general ambience and the friendly welcome
We travelled by public transport and while the park and ride was very useful it didn't operate on Sunday. Local buses do not stop nearby.
Very nice stay. Delicious breakfast. Very friendly and made to feel very welcome, would certainly stay there again.
Only negative comment would be the decor looked a little tired and could do with some updating.
Good value. Good quality breakfast with lots of choice. Very comfortable bed. Attractive bedroom and en-suite:that little bit different. Very quiet location. Easy parking right outside front door. Sense of pride in the owners in what they were offering-well justified.
Only one tiny point which is that in the dark it's easy for first time visitors to miss the sign, especially if there's a car right behind you. But you can turn and come back quite easily.
Helpful hosts!! Upon arrival, Jim was ever so welcoming! He provided us with really useful information on places to go and dine on the evening and there was a list of taxi numbers waiting for us should we need them. There was ample parking outside. The room was massive and very well presented! Brilliant value for money! There was a lovely little "shop" outside the room with shelves of things you could help yourself to with a little "honest jar" you could pay for your items in, which we thought was a lovely little touch. We will be travelling from Surrey to stay again soon!
The whole experience
Jim and Irene were incredible to my wife and I. They made our stay in Durham so welcoming we extended another 3 nights. The location is ideal being very quiet and spacious with excellent access to the Yorkshire Dales and Moors, The Holy Island, Hadrian's Wall, to name a few. The breakfasts we're absolutely delicious, a very extensive selection and made fresh to order. Plan to stay a few extra nights, Durham is an awesome and friendly city steeped in history and there is no better place to stay than at Sniperley Hall. See you in Spring 2015.
A lovely old house with character looked after by great people- we felt very welcome here.
Lovely big room and bathroom, lovely shower, kind and caring people, nothing too much trouble and a delicious breakfast - even with soya milk for my daughter. We will certainly be back
The room was quite large, as was the bathroom. At the top of the grand staircase there's a welcoming array of snacks and drinks for purchase. Host was friendly and had lots of information about the area to share. Wish we could have stayed longer.
The bathroom was across the hall. (We knew that when we booked the room.)
Excellent hotel, quiet location, easy access into Durham, nothing to much trouble for Jim. Thank you Jim for your hospitality.
Light airy room with a comfortable bed. We also liked the honesty shop with a reasonably good selection of wines and savoury snacks, useful if you are late arriving. The breakfasts were really good made with locally farmed meats. Great staff.
Turning right into the driveway, a little hairy, as the locals drive very quickly.
Great breakfast. Loved having a large room and bathroom attached
The wifi was a massive plus for me, the modem was located right outside my room so we had a strong signal, the location was very nice a large manor house with a long drive off the main road so there was no noise, room was huge bed was comfy and the hosts and food was fantastic!
Fantastic place to stay next to great historic town.
There's lots to like at Sniperley Hall unfortunately the mattresses cannot be included in that overall assessment. The breakfast was excellent and the helpfulness of staff was terrific but our stay was spoilt by a very very uncomfortable mattress on our bed. The staff did what they could to help (we shuffled the mattresses that were on our bed around with the help of staff which helped the problem slightly) but the fact remains that the mattresses on our bed seemed to be quite old and they were very uncomfortable. I would recommend Sniperley Hall but for the bed we encountered.
