In the heart of Durham's city centre, within easy reach of the A1 and less than 500 metres from the castle and the train station, this modern hotel offers great value and spacious, modern rooms.
Score from 509 reviews Fabulous
Friendly and welcoming. Lovely large house. Liked availability of bottles of wine, bear, soft drinks and crisps beautifully displayed on the spacious landing, with an honesty jar. Room comfortable, with an excellent breakfast served. Definitely need a car.
Found books on crystals and Angels in bedroom a bit ott. Places to eat were not within walking distance, needed to take a car.
Was welcomed at the door by the owners and showed to room. very helpful, offered to help with bags etc.
couldn't get the internet during the evening but was ok in the morning.
Free Wi-Fi which excellent Large bedroom Comfort and quality of accommodation, peaceful surroundings but near Durham centre
Air of quiet understated quality as you walk through the front door onto thick carpets. Up stairs the bedrooms lead off a large airy landing where there is a "honesty bar " containing wine, snacks and a fridge with soft drinks. The bedrooms are large and well equipped and the bathroom huge with large bath and shower -- hot water is almost instantaneous. An ample supply of fresh towels also meant that a luxurious soak was finished with warm, comforting towels. The television in the bedroom was new and the tray of bisquits and tea and coffee was replenished daily. The bottle of sparkling water was also a bonus. Breakfast was a delight -- everything that one would wish for before heading off for a day of exploring Durham.
1)Having to leave after 4 nights of pampering. 2) Having to say no to the "full English" breakfast. 3) Having to say goodbye to a most attentive host who presented a breakfast table and sideboard with absolutely everything one could wish for.
Lovely old house with light, spacious rooms, very comfortable bed, modern bathroom with superb shower, convivial dining room with delicious cooked breakfast of home produce, fresh fruit aplenty and interesting and very personable hosts.
The room The food The hosts Location Quiet peaceful setting
Everything. The room was huge, as was the bathroom. The house is gorgeous and full of character but with all modern conveniences. The location is excellent for a visit to Durham and the owners were extremely accommodating when we requested early breakfast. A lovely place to stay.
convenient location, comfortable room and excellent breakfast
We had a very large room which was wonderful. It was very quiet and restful. The breakfast was very enjoyable the home made sausage was really nice.
There wasn't anything I didn't like.
The whole experience was excellent.
Peace & quiet. Very helpful and knowledgeable owner. Convenient for Durham & the coast.
We had only one night at this charming B&B. We wish we had more time there. Great location.
Irene & Jim made us feel so welcome, from the spacious comfy rooms to the excellent breakfast, we cannot fault it. Will definitely be back.
We had to leave!
We really enjoyed our stay. It was very peaceful and very comfortable. Location was fine just a few minutes out of the city by car but the bus was handy. The breakfast was great as was our interaction with other guests and the owners.
A most comfortable place to stay. Beautiful place with very kind owners. Incredibly nice breakfast.
Lovely large room, lovely large bathroom, excellent breakfast, beautiful environment, friendly and helpful host
Tv signal was weak kept losing signal
Everything. The decor especially the bathroom was fabulous, floor can be a bit slippy when getting out of the shower, but otherwise fine.Good mein host and excellent breakfast. Would stay again. Friendly black cat as well!
The exit from the drive! Abit hairy Turning right !
In the words of a fellow diner at breakfast "more a boutique hotel". Believe all the positive comments others have made about Sniperley Hall, it was lovely. Thank you Jim!
Everything, friendly helpful host, spacious bedroom/sitting room, large bathroom/dressing room, nice grounds, wonderful breakfast, handy park and ride for Durham, clean throughout. In short...the best B&B I've ever stayed in!
nothing to dislike.
Near Durham and easy from A1. Large comfy bed. Very welcoming.
Such a good welcome, lovely room, breakfast fantastic best b and b ever.
Jim and Irene welcomed us into their home as if we were family. Nothing was too much trouble. In addition, Jim presented my partner's mother with a bunch of flowers when he found we were celebrating her 92nd birthday.
My partner's 92-year-old mother was a bit phased by having to put her towels on the "ladder" in the bathroom.
rooms large and airy food was excellent and Jim was a wonderful host made us feel very welcome
nothing to dislike
