This is how to run a superb Hotel in a beautiful location. Every box was ticked. The pool was a warm indulgance with food quality setting a standard. Staff warmth and caring was noted as exceptional.
No reflection on the Hotel but the beach at the cove was ankle deep in rubbish., which is a travesty when compared to the natural beauty of the landscape.
The staff were very helpful and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. The chef and his staff provided food fit for a King (and Queen !); it was of very high quality and incredibly tasty too ! Overall a wonderful experience and we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who likes top class service, a touch of luxury, peace and tranquility, and great surroundings.
The approach road was in a poor state of repair.
Everything about the hotel
We felt that the breakfast bar could be a little more comprehensive and the breakfast staff a little more attentive making sure that everyone was being attended to at all times.
Lovely location and helpful staff
No bath in our bedroom in spite of the website stating that all rooms have baths. feeble shower with poor water pressure didn't help.
Location ,views and just above south coast path for walks.
Access road (owned by the Nat.Trust ) in very poor state There is an ongoing dispute with Hotel..Stone wall outside our room was also in need of repair. Small Swimming pool used by people from outside the Hotel .Staff were asking if we had decided on our choices from the dinner menu at 5.30 pm.!
The scenery and views
Friendly very helpful staff, beautiful location make sure you do the cliff walk to Salcombe to South sands for a cream tea then take the funky little ferry into Salcombe. Victoria Pub highly recommended. All in all excellent.
Found pillows a little unforgiving but this is really nit picking
The view, the room, the staff - all excellent!
A very expensive dinner.
The amount of dogs allowed in the building.
The hotel is in a great location with lovely views over the cove. The staff are excellent & extreamly helpful. The sea view room we had is large with a very large comfortable bed. Room & leisure facilities are very good. Access to washing & Drying machines plus a well equipped games room. The lane leading to the hotel has been repaired with no potholes. Excellent hotel for families with children & mature couples alike. Will definately stay again in 2015.
Nothing not to like.
Care and attention of staff from the moment we arrived to the time we left. Excellent food at both breakfast and evening meal. Glorious weather throughout our stay. Very relaxing with lovely walks all around. Our dog loved it.
A little isolated but in some ways this was good! Where has all the sand gone? Let's blame the storms of last winter! Beware of very slippery floors around the pool !!! Frightening if you are a little unsteady.
Beautiful unspoilt location, with every comfort, enjoyed the view from restaurant & lounge and swimming in the salt water pool was delightful, staff very pleasant , all made up for the bad road access.
getting to the Hotel was a 3 mile narrow pot holed lane in need of repair, some short term fix has been done? We understand the National Trust is responsible for the repair of these Lanes.
Beautiful location, away from it all. Perfect access to the coastal path and Devon countryside. Excellent friendly helpful staff.good wifi access to the Internet. Wonderful food and wine. Truly an enjoyable stay.
Slight damp dog odour in the room. Bar a bit pricey.
Very friendly staff. Excellent food
Bathroom needed updating although very clean.
We love to swim and the pool was really nice we swam twice every day.
Good service good food and good facilities
The leisure facilities and the dining room.
The rough road down to the hotel
Location Views Friendly staff High standards from owners. Good quality food.
Menu for the evening meal could be more varied. I would also like to see better portion control and more vegetables and fresh fruit being offered.
Location, Room Quality Personal touches from staff
Beautiful location, 10 minute walk from Bolt Head airstrip.
Nothing to dislike about this Hotel...
The location is superb, ask for a sea view room.
The charge for smoked salmon at breakfast and no bottled water supplied in the room, these are now included as standard in many places. The restaurant table was allocated at the beginning of our stay, so you can be disappointed if you are at the back of the restaurant with no view.
The position of your hotel is wonderful if you require a tranquil setting. The view is amazing of the sea and countryside.
You have been badly let down by The National Trust. This is typical of large organisations riding roughshod over small businesses
Very friendly set up nothing was a problem a very enjoyable stay
Spectacular views Politeness of staff Helpfulness of staff English cooked breakfast Lots of hot water Loads of towels Salt water swimming pool Complimentary cream tea (scones) Bedrooms are fully equipped and large as is a very comfy bed
Advertised as 5star but is nowhere near. Very expensive. Cost taken on booking not refunded under any circumstances. Lane down to hotel is diabolical. No bottled water in rooms. Rubbish toiletries. Bathrooms very dated. No fridge or ironing board in rooms
Comfortable hotel. Quiet,Beautiful location Welcoming, helpfull staff, good service Good food
Potholes and uneven approach road by courtesy of the National Trust
