Solar Point was a complete joy. The room was comfortable and truly luxurious. The hosts were very accommodating, and attention to detail remarkable. Great breakfast including excellent porridge and home-made sausages!

Fabulous House, very welcoming hosts and would definately stay again

Iain & Karen went out of their way to make us feel welcome, their house is as beautiful as the view from our room. It was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast kept us going all day. We will definitely be back to stay.

Everything. The property itself is stunning, in an exceptional location, and the owners could not be more welcoming or accommodating. We would happily stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at Solas the hospitality was fantastic and we were made to feel very welcome. There is not one bad point to say about our stay and will definatley be going back. x

Karen & Iain the owners did everything to make us feel very welcome. Advised us on places to eat in Stornaway, places to visit and generally made our stay as near perfect as is possible. Iain obviously views breakfast as the most important meal of the day and we never once managed to eat lunch as we were still full from breakfast. Solas was purpose built less than three years ago as a guest house and you really couldn't have better facilities in the 4 star hotel.

This is a must stay venue. Iain and Karen are a delightful couple who put the interests and comfort of their guests first. The breakfast is of the highest standard and provides a good start to a day of exploring the beautiful island. Well done and we plan to return again next year.

It was some distance from the town centre so had to rely on taxis.

Staying at Solas Guest House really feels like being home away from home. Karen and Iain are really genuine people and made us feel really welcome. The rooms are beautifully decorated. If I could give an 11 I would!

This is a guest house run with love and care by two people (Iain and Karen) who have created a most relaxed and welcoming space. The two large guest rooms are attractive, well appointed, comfortable and very quiet. There is a small airport nearby but very few flights and so this is unintrusive (even quite enjoyable watching, at a distance, the few little planes coming in and going out periodically). All you hear at night are the nearby sea and, from time to time, the wind. Each room has a balcony which looks out across field to the sea. Breakfasts are excellent. What sets this guest house apart, though, is the particularly thoughtful and kindly hosting. I went for a four night break with my mother. We both thought that this was one of the nicest places we had stayed in years. Very highly recommended indeed.

we loved everything about the Solas Guest House; Karen & Ian were fantastic hosts, we could not fault their attention to detail in all aspects of our stay, a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, beautiful house and excellent breakfast. Absolutely everything. Facilities, amenities, food and hospitality were all excellent. My husband and I have not stayed in a B & B for a good number of years and could not believe what was available at Solas. Karen and Ian were friendly and helpful without being intrusive, prepared to go 'the extra mile' to ensure that our stay was as fabulous as it was. Having travelled to Stronaway from Oban via Barra, Uist etc. Solas was the most wonderful relaxing experience of our holiday and we both would recommend that anyone going to Stornaway stayed here.

You could'nt wish for more hospitable and welcoming hosts--nothing is too much trouble. The Solas is immaculately clean and comfortable, well located, and the breakfast fit for a king (or queen!).

The Solas guest-house cannot be faulted in any way.

The owners were friendly and showed us to our gorgeous room immediately. The breakfast feast we had the following morning was second to none!
