We spent 2 nights at Solberge Hall to bring back memories of 25yrs ago when Mr and Mrs Jack Lyons were part owners and ran the hotel. They told us of an ice room which was used way back and a celtic stone cross which was no longer there. We will be staying as often as funds allow as we are entranced with the place and its beautiful surrounding countryside. Waking up to birdsong is wonderful and being from Lancashire I must admit North Yorkshire is delightful. Almost everything

This is a comfortable elegant house in pleasant surroundings with a good welcome from the staff. The bedrooms are excellent. It is very good value for what it costs. I needed to be in touch with things while there and wi-fi throughout the house and bedrooms was claimed in the detail on Booking.com and in the hotel guide in the room. Alas there was no signal in the room so I had to go to the ground floor common areas to get connected. Reception told me there were a few 'black spots'. This could be an issue for business guests.

Very nice large room and extremely comfortable beds. Food was excellent and well-presented in a spacious elegant restaurant. Without exception all the staff were attentive, courteous and helpful, well- trained and supervised. We were warm and comfortable throughout a very enjoyable weekend. Bedroom was a considerable distance from the lounge, and involved a number of flights of stairs.

Its an old hotel in a great setting. Everything is in good order/condition and very comfortable and rooms are a good size. My double room actual had enough room and chairs for two people to move around and sit in comfort which is unusual and the bathroom was excellent. The public rooms are elegant with a convivial feel and the food is quite outstanding. My 4th stay and hopefully not the last!

The food was excellent - really excellent. And the service was very good indeed. The room was very quiet and the hotel was very pleasant to just sit in and read the paper The room was a bit warm and it was difficult to regulate the temperature but this was a minor thing

Just about everything. I spent 1 night B & B for £65. If I were in London, accomodation, food, facilities and services of this standard would cost nearer £650 per night. I wish I lived closer (I live in Bristol) as I would love to take my wife here for weekends. This hotel is quite superb. Thank-you

A lovely old fashioned style of service and surroundings , with excellent food and comfortable beds. Lovely surroundings. We were lucky to get a very good deal. Sadly our stay was spoiled by the overpowering heat of the bedroom and lounge.

It's quiet location, excellent food, and relaxed atmosphere make it an excellent weekend getaway. The relatively low cost make it affordable luxury. Nit picking I know, but as a tradesman you notice these things, some of the standard of workmanship on the hall is poor. The bathroom in our room (14) had not had the tiles laid out properly, the shower screen didn't work properly as it has been badly fitted. Corners had been cut and I just thought a little bit more attention to detail would go a long way.

A warm and friendly small hotel, staff were very keen to help. Rooms were adequate and had a real boutique feel sooner than a modular all rooms are the same feel. all the food was excellent although the a la carte dinner was alittle expensive The only disappointment was that a room had been booked with a view of the extensive gardens and the reality was a view of a wall and a fire escape. That didnt however detract from what was a very enjoyable stay.

Friendly atmosphere and attentative staff. For this time of the year the rooms felt cold and were drafty when the wind blew due to the age of the windows and not sealing properly or no seal at all. The windows could be opened from the outside with little resistance for any burglar, so this was unacceptable and with NO room safe this was not ideal. (I am not saying that you have burglars or have this problem) For business use there was nowhere to sit properly and work
