Once Gretna Green’s post office, Kirkcroft is now a lovely bed and breakfast less than a 5 minute walk from Gretna Green Train Station.
Score from 56 reviews Wonderful
Days Inn Gretna Green is close to highways M74 and M6, and within easy reach of Carlisle. It has free Wi-Fi and free parking. Newcastle-upon-Tyne and County Durham are about one hour from the hotel.
Score from 329 reviews Good
Less than a mile from highway M74, the Ecclefechan Hotel nestles in a country village. The Grade C Listed building offers modern facilities, including free Wi-Fi, in a traditional setting.
Score from 83 reviews Excellent
Off the A74 in Gretna Green, Hazeldene Hotel offers accommodation with free parking and WiFi.
Score from 167 reviews Very good
Room was exceptionally good. Huge with four poster bed and hot tub. Staff were efficient and friendly.
Nothing to complain about.
Friendly staff Good Wi-Fi
The bedroom was cold (February) and without optional heater. The single radiator is simply not man-enough to heat the delightfully large bedroom.
Brilliant welcome, friendly helpful staff. Lovely classic furniture. Cleanliness like none I had seen in any hotel. Dinner menu with plenty to choose and excellent quality of food. Breakfast good. If I was in the area again, I would not bother to look elsewhere, I would stay here again.
If I was to be extremely picky, I'd have liked my bath towel bigger and soft.
Location re A74(M). Welcoming, attentive staff. Large, comfortable, clear room. Delicious breakfast.
Difficult to open shampoo sachets. Lack of real/bottled ales - just lagers.
Very friendly good welcome and the food very good will stay again when in the area also recommend it to friends. Thank you
The room was clean, the bed was very comfy, and the bathroom was quite modern. Above all it was lovely and warm, and quite snug. (I had a double room). Dining area very nice, cosy (didn't have evening meal, only breakfast). Was 'quite' pleased my choice of accommodation for that night. Would stay there again.
Ok here goes. The lady who saw me upon arrival was 'very busy', and would see to me shortly. 10 minutes later she 'handed' me my room key and pointed me up the stairs to my room. Possibly understaffed that night, as she was attending to a party of guests. But she did seem a little 'stressed'. After a short trip to the local supermarket, and as I walked into the hallway a young girl was being told off by the same lady (not shouted at) for putting the wrong cutlery on the wrong table! Wouldn't you have a discrete word in ones ear, not a telling off in view of a customer? Breakfast was very nice, quality, not quantity, but I would say a 'little over priced.
Staff, location, room, meals
The staff made us feel very welcome and couldn't do enough for us even when we arrived extremely late on a Friday night. Luckily on Sunday we arrived in time to enjoy a superb meal in their restaurant. Well done to all.
Welcoming staff and spotless rooms
Really friendly staff, I was on business and therefore on my own, they made an effort to make conversation and make me feel at home. The room was excellent, really clean, tidy and comfortable.
Logistics! Close to town, but in the country!
Very hot in upstairs and hard to figure out the radiators.
Staff politeness and helpful Ample Parking Good meals
Only one arm chair in room
Room needed maintenance and had mould in the shower
We just stopped off for a night on our drive from London to Fife, so can't comment too much on atmosphere or the bar. We were warmly welcomed by the staff when we arrived at 11pm. We had planned to go to bar but in the end just headed for the comfy bed. We were up early to continue our journey and they made us breakfast at 7am to set us on our way. Breakfast wasn't included in our rate so by the time we added that on it went from being a really cheap deal to a standard hotel price but it served our needs well. Would recommend. Really nice clean big rooms.
Minor thing. Maybe should have rolls at breakfast. We were earlyso maybe they were just not out yet!
Brian was charming! the hotel was very comfortable and clean.
a couple of small repairs to furniture, possibly two comfy armchairs.
spacious, comfortable room
It was supposed to have a buffet breakfast and it didn't.
We located the Hotel easily, booked in no problem, the room and bathroom were fine. Problem was the room was too hot. Opened the window, noisy exhaust fan outside. Put up with it for about 90 minutes, rang service, told to ring another number. Out of frustration went down to bar to request turning heater down. Unimpressed with verbal response. However they turned it down, but not bathroom? Also turned off exhaust fan. So got good night sleep and left happier in the morning.
Room too hot, and a lack of empathy to problem.
The bed, the chaise longue, the glorious deep blue velvet curtains, my venison medallions and the lovely friendly kind staff. This is the third time I have stayed here. There are modern rooms too, also comfortable.
Nothing, like it all.
Size, comfort & cleanliness of room. Very convenient to M74. Staff very helpful.
Mattress not the most comfortable.
Quiet location , warm & friendly staff .
The staff were very friendy and nothing seemed too much trouble. The hotel didn't have many guests the night we stayed so they gave us an upgrade ( free of charge ) to a lovely room with four poster bed which was a lovely surprise. We didn't have an evening meal due to other commitments but the breakfast was done to perfection. We would definately stay again.
very friendly. excellent food and comfort. for business or leisure
Staff were welcoming and helpful. Large room, with plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space.Choice of food for dinner good with pleasant staff.
No clear reception area a little confusing. Towels were hard. Breakfast could have offered more non-cooked options.
