Fantastic service throughout with those little extras that you dont often get in a b&B. Breakfast is amazin and large, all fresh local produce and home made jam! Location close to city centre with lots of good eating. Try the Stewing Pot not cheap but worth it.

Friendly hotel, good breakfast, city centre walkable. Parts of the ceiling in bedroom & shower room too low for some people.

The hotel is situated in a quiet road lined with large Edwardian-style houses and it's easy to find. There was plenty of parking and the friendliness and the welcome tray of tea and biscuits in ther lovely reception room on arrival made us feel comfortable straightaway. A boon was the mini fridge in each room stocked with Herefordshire goodies at very reasonable prices. It was a 15 min. Walk into town but we taxi'd for £5 to the cathedral. Breakfast was as good as described on the hotel website and such a lot of choice! My friend was coeliac and they even had special sausages for her. We could come and go as we pleased which was useful and we didn't need to go far at night for a meal. There was pub about 5 mins walk away which did good steak at very reasonable prices plus a Tescos for bits and pieces. Allin all I can't think of anywhere better for a city break in Hereford.

A lovely house, maintained to a very high standard, and the superior rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. Little extras, such as good toiletries and bath robes added some luxury, and the breakfasts, sourced locally, were extremely good. The people running the guesthouse were very friendly and helpful; they could not have done more to make us welcome and ensure our visit was a success. It's not a complaint, because the situation of the house is lovely. It is possible to walk into the city centre, and there is a hotel/restaurant a few minutes away for evening meals, but it is probably better to have a car to travel to local sights and other towns. There is plenty of parking on site at the guesthouse.

The house is beautifully and artistically decorated and very clean. The bathroom in particular was very clean and modern with lovely toiletries. We were made to feel welcome. On Saturday breakfast was chaotic and slow with what appeared to be very little method. There are obviously not enough tables to allow for everyone to be seated at once and we were told in a very terse way, across the room, in front of the other guests, to go and sit in the lounge. We felt like naughty children. We waited over 30 mins for our breakfast, and as we were meeting someone, it disrupted our plans. The same thing happened on Sunday, to others, and breakfast was once again, very slow. The male proprietor was the lone waiter who gave the impression of being 'on the edge' of holding it together (Basil Fawltyish!). When an employee tried to help he was embarrassingly direct with her in front of the guests, and we felt so sorry for her. If they could sort their chaotic system out I would highly recommend Somerville House.

Very friendly and welcoming staff; really lovely room with lots of little details that made it a home from home. The minibar was very reasonably priced and, as advertised, had some very good local beers, cider and wine. Breakfast was delicious (the homemade jam, in particular, was very more-ish) and really, it was just a lovely place to stay. Walking distance from the city centre; they gave me some excellent restaurant recommendations (there is no evening restaurant in the hotel itself).

A very nice, quiet, hotel in a fairly good location for the main town centre, although you may need a taxi back when laden with shopping bags. In general, a very good place to stay for a short break

A small hotel within easy walking distance of the city centre. The staff were very friendly and we were made to feel welcome immediately upon our arrival with coffee (and an excellent one at that!) and biscuits. The room was very well appointed with much attention paid to detail, the mini-bar featured a selection of local beer, cider and wine as well as snacks all at astonishingly reasonable prices. Breakfast was cooked to order and of a very high standard, made from local produce accomodated special dietary requirements (in our case vegetarian and coeliac) and, as previously mentioned, excellent cafetiere coffee rather than the vile tepid filter variety that many hotels serve! Highly recommended, well done! No criticism of Somerville House what so ever. Visitors should be aware that there is no restaurant at this hotel but it is very convenient for the city centre.
