Having stayed at the Somerville twice before I knew what to expect. I was not disappointed. The excellent location - overlooking St Aubins harbour with it's quaint fishing boats, cafes and shops helps make it a relaxing and pleasurable place to unwind. The very helpful staff plus excellent cuisine are a major plus. One can soon be on a lovely walk through cobbled streets and on to leafy lanes, but at the same time, the capital shopping centre is within easy reach by bus or car.

Comfortable & friendly. The food is excellent. The room was comfortable with an ideal view of the bay around to St Hellier. Whilst we were there we saw several groups of ladies taking afternoon tea, had we been planning a longer stay I know we would have taken the opportunity to try afternoon tea ourselves, maybe something to keep in mind for a future visit. When we arrived and we were shown to our room it very nice, I mentioned that I had originally wanted a room with a sea view but, at the time of booking, there was one available. Very quickly the young man checking us in said that there a room available for the duration of our stay, I was very pleased at this obvious kind action of the young man to go the extra mile for us.

It was precisely what was ordered, and expected. All the staff were extremely helpful and attentive. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, and afternoon tea delightful. We did not dine at night, so cannot comment. We would definitely choose this hotel for a future visit to Jersey.

The view from the hotel especially the dining room is extremely pleasant. Fortunately our bedroom and bathroom had panoramic views of the harbour, beach and coastline which compensated for the quite small bedroom. The walk or drive up to the hotel is not for the faint hearted but worthwhile! The staff in all aspects were polite and obliging especially on the Reception Desk. Our only complaint was that the food, at times, was not hot. Well presented food and efficiently served by polite dining room staff. The booking and Review details below are incorrect. I was originally told no available seaview bedrooms but on contacting the Hotel personally was told a seaview available.

The Somerville was an incredibly relaxing experience with happy and extremely helpful staff - nothing was too much for them and you felt that they were proud of the hotel and island and wanted your stay to be as comfortable as possible. The location of the hotel was perfect and the view over the harbour must be one of the best on the island - absolutely magnigicent. - I would recommend this hotel highly. There is nothing about this hotel that I didn't like

Just a relaxing break..Jersey was fine once you had been around the island would not go for a full week 4days/nights would be fine... as for the hotel the staff without exception were all very good nothing was left to chance meals/ drnks etc were all served very professionally indeed the whole set up was excellent..maybe a bit on the pricey side that and the smallish rooms were the only slight grumble The only small complaint was the size of the double rooms they were mall .. but as the hotel is 120 years old it's to be expected

The location was stunning. The views were over looking the harbour with little boats bobbing on the water. We had a seaview and it certainly was worth it. Sunrise was spectacular. The service was excellent the staff were attentive and friendly. Somerville has a very genteele atmosphere. Breakfast was really good with both hot and cold meal available and we chose both because it was there. Certainly got us off to a good start. We hired a car from the airport as we were told that the walk from the harbour to the hotel was impossible but we walked it a couple of times and it was fine. If you have knee problems then a car would be best. We walked to the next town, St Helliers; took about an hour and very pleasant along the waterfront. Bused it back as our friends had taken the car for the day. If we return to Jersey then we would certainly stay here again. Great place to relax and chill out..

Efficiency of the staff. Great food. Easy to find and good parking facilities. Good base for a business trip. Glass of white wine at lunchtime could have been a bit colder! But generally nothing to complain about. It's a very good hotel.
