We stayed at Sophia's for 3 nights in September 2014. Lynn, the host, was most welcoming and offered a pot of tea on arrival. The room was comfortable and airy. Decoration is lovely and fluffy towels, dressing gowns and high quality toiletries are provided. Breakfast is excellent and freshly prepared to your choice from an open plan kitchen. Nothing is too much trouble as Lynn cooks and serves during friendly chatter. Sophia's is located on the seafront of Penzance which gives easy access to local restaurants, shops etc. Large sash windows give the rooms plenty of fresh sea air swell as lovely views out to sea. Parking was not a problem even though Sophias does not have a dedicated car park. On the whole our visit felt like we were visiting a dear friends home not customers of a B&B
There wasn't anything we didn't like.
Very customer-focused landlady High quality bathroom Great breakfast Sea front location
Large but uncomfortable bed
The sea view was beautiful, would recommend an upstairs room to fully appreciate it. Although the room was on the main road we were not troubled by noise. We found a pub within walking distance in Newlyn, The Tolcarne Inn, serving a variety of fish.
There wasn't anything to dislike.
Good view, brilliant shower, very good bed. great breakfast. Easy to park.
Friendlyness great, Food fantastic. Plan to visit again, room clean and comfortable.
Nice, friendly, clean, good ,location, nothing to much trouble, we will return. Thank you linda.
Our room overlooked the ocean - great. Very big comfortable room and the king sized bed was very comfy. Lovely big bathroom and brilliant shower. very clean room. Lovely, friendly hostess.
Very small breakfast area. No Lounge to sit and relax in. When asked for toast and eggs for breakfast, that is exactly what you will get. One piece of toast and one egg. You should be offered more and not have to ask for a second piece of toast or egg. The breakfast was very budget like as you couldn't help yourself you had to ask for everything even the juice.
Warm welcome, pot of tea on arrival. Excellent cooked breakfast. Would stay again
As described when we booked it was a small room. This was fine for an overnight stop but would have been less suitable for any longer.
Location and view. Owner Lynn was helpful and friendly.
Lynn was a great host. She cooks the most incredible breakfasts and is very helpful in giving information for your stay. The rooms were very clean and the bathroom was something just this side of fabulous! Lynn provided every tourist brochure in the room one could need. The location was fabulous. We felt very safe as two female solo travelers. We were very happy that we found Sofia's B&b!
The room was smaller than I expected. But the bathroom was almost as large...almost a spa. I think that this is not a fault but an American in Europe expectation for room size. It have been lovely had there been a living room type area to relax outside of the bedroom for all the guests. But Lynn had made a true home away from home! This review is not negative!
Breakfast was very good. En-suite had been recently re-furbished and was very nice.
The room was on the ground floor at the front of the building, which was very noisy due to passers by, and traffic. The room was advertised as a small double, and indeed, there was hardly room to walk around the bed, let alone anywhere to put luggage.
Accommodation very clean and comfortable Lynn's breakfast were freshly cooked each morning, nothing was too much trouble. Would definately stay again highly recommended
the rooms of an old house were decorated minimalistic modern within an old atmosphere, to be there felt like being in one´s own family - thanks: Lynn!!
a little bit loud for a problematic sleeper.
The lady running the place was very nice and helpful. The room was very comfortable. The location was in front of the sea and within walking distance from the city centre. Excellent breakfast.
Very friendly hostess, advised us with a very good restaurant. The breakfast. Close by St-Michaelsmount and St-Ives. The room however small is very well equipped.
Some noise from the street in the morning however my wife didn't hear anything.
A room with a view. Very friendly owner.
First class location and facilities
Being able to sit in bed and see the sea! Breakfasts were superb, home made marmalade and tasty free range eggs. Fresh fruit salad to start with. Large airy bedroom and wonderful shower in bathroom.
So friendly landlord Mrs.??
Very small breakfast room, but intim and a british breakfast as big as yo want!
Sea view and convenient location, high spec decor and fittings, sense of privacy, large bed with high quality linen. Tip top breakfast and friendly welcome.
Cramped breakfast room. Lovely toiletries but no tissues in room or full length mirror which I would expect at this price. (The dressing table mirror could not be used in the sitting position either) The busy road traffic kept me awake when the window was open.
Owner very friendly, we were given information of local attractions, room very comfortable and clean, great breakfasts!
Lynn was very helpful, welcoming and cooked a great breakfast. The room was comfortable, clean, with a good ensuite.
Lovely room, great breakfast and a very friendly and helpful landlady.
This is the second time we have stayed with Lynn after a stop over to the Scillies a few years ago. This time we stayed 5 nights in one of the 4 gorgeous rooms overlooking the promenade. The decor, facilities, breakfast and hostess can't be faulted. A little gem of a place a stones throw from the sea and the town centre. If we return to Penzance this is definitely where we'll be staying.
