Tolbooth - A 17th century gaol building that now houses a museum focusing on the history of crime and punishment in the city.

Great location beside train and bus station as well as union sq centre which is open late for dinner/cinema. Room was a good size with nice big window looking out onto the street. Bed comfortable. Staff friendly. Noise from road works at 7am woke me up everyday. Not a big deal though as will only be temporary and wouldn't effect whole hotel. |

As I had arrived by train the proximity of this hotel was ideal. Also with time to spare the hotel was ideally situated for a brief walk around the shops I did not like the fact that there was no loung in to hotel, in which to sit in a more confortable seat. |

Very central location, comfortable room with bathroom. Lovely breakfast and staff very hospitable. Would certainly stay again. Not the place for you if stairs are difficult for you, there is no lift. |

Our room was a good size and the bed extremely comfortable. Our boys were in a huge corner bedroom with views over three sides, which they thought was wonderful, particularly as it had a sofa and a large TV screen. The beds were well dressed and had a luxurious feel, although the rest of the furniture was sparse and it was odd not to have doors on the wardrobe, although this didn't spoil our stay. Having an ironing board propped at the side of the wardrobe was also a little odd and gave the room more of a 'boarding house' feel. We weren't too keen on the choice of pictures over the beds either, it gave the rooms a bit of a seedy feel. Breakfast was excellent in the bistro. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay. |

We really liked our room and the breakfast in the morning was so fresh and the staff were excelant. The offer of keeping our luggage on arrival and departure was a big bonus. Nothing bad to say really the only area let down was the corridors but as the refurbishment is ongoing I suspect that will be the last area to be done |

The location was just across the road from the bus and rain station and a new shopping centre. Very close to city centre pubs/clubs etc. The room was very cold when we got in after our night out. Couldn't sleep i was so cold. Old building and old heating system which you couldn't adjust. Wasn't asked at the end of stay whether everything was ok and so did not open avenue for me to complain at time. |

It is being refurbished so parts of the hotel are in a muddle. My bathroom was good but the room and corridor were still awaiting refurbishment. Current building site and very limited Tv channels, not even free view |

location- close to bus and rail and shopping and restaurants the television was very erratic in what channels it showed. Certain channels would spontaneously turn off during viewing and not come back until next day if ever!! |

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Service with a smile! The room looked dated and the whole hotel is in the process of renovation. The hallways are gorgeous, but some of my room wasn't painted yet. It also took very long to get hot water. |
