Beautiful grounds, beautiful room, amazing food and fantastic cocktails. Our stay was faultless and would recommend to anyone.
Free wifi Spa / gym facilities Lovely breakfast Beautiful view Helpful / Friendly staff Easy parking
Room wasn't ready when we arrived after 2pm. So had to get ready for a wedding in the changing rooms.
Everything. Staff extremely accomodating, room very clean & tidy. Food was of an excellent standard & service matched. The grounds were well maintained and great for a post food walk. Would highly recommend this hotel & can't wait to come back.
The fact that other commitments precluded a longer stay, as we didn't get to use the spa facility.
Comfortable room and very well equipped bathroom. Good parking and friendly welcome. Pool well maintained and good changing rooms.
Expensive Campari and soda - at that price I might have expected a bit of garnish, and maybe a few crisps. Mirror in bathroom too dark for doing make-up.
Comfy beds, lovely swimming pool, good choice of food, very helpful, cheerful staff
Excellent service, large rooms with good facilities. Staff incredibly friendly. Prices expensive though, a bottle of house rose wine £24 a bit over the top, £4.99 at local supermarket! Book at least 1 week in advance for any spa treatments , 2 weeks minimum for the tanning as we found out on the day we arrived much to my partners disappointment. Overall though, excellent and we will be going back!
Not knowing we had to book spa treatments so far in advance. We only booked a week in advance and thought there would be appointments on the day but there isnt
Doorman was lovely. Breakfast waiters and waitress also lovely. Gardens stunning.
Room cleaning was poor. No vacuume and very sloppy. Spa over booked. Couldn't even swim. We stayed exec room. Noise from wedding party annoying as was the smoke from the smokers coming Into our room. Front desk staff not so polite. Restaurant options disappointing. Bistro staff were very unhelpful.
Spa facilities were great, rooms were tidy and comfy, hotel staff were always friendly and helpful, great hotel overall and great price for what you get.
only stayed 1 night nice hotel good food good location. had a problem with tv within minutes help was at hand very speedy and 2 nice gents to the rescue.
no lift to the side i stayed on - having a bad back walking up stairs with a carry bag not good - no offer to take bags up.
Food and spa facilities good
Staff were so friendly, attentive and happy to help. Got a free upgrade into the apartments. Spa was excellent.
If I'm being really picky...the bed was too soft. Me and my boyfriend kept rolling into the middle of the bed so not the most comfortable.
The grounds were lovely, the house it self was very well looked after! The reception staff were friendly.
You couldn't have a cocktail at the bar as there was no bar staff! The tip was already included in anything you brought, where I thought it was up to the guest to tip on value of service! They charge .40 pence to print the invoice off, I know it only 40 pence but I didn't request an invoice.
Brasserie food very good
Noisy rooms in main house
Very relaxing ambeance Good food
Some very noicy large hen group Spoilt the atmosphere
overall a lovely ambience . we have visited several times in the past and are pleased with the updates on the property
not being aware that sitting further into the gardens due to no vacant tables we waited 25 minutes for service at teatime. someone told us that they dont serve this far down and no notice of this was posted
Too far away from town
The terrace was great to have coffee on, breakfast was fantastic, staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely room. Staff did everything they could to get the room ready when it wasn't ready on arrival. Really enjoyed our stay.
The house keeping was a shambles apart from that it was nice and the food in the restaurant was pricey but I suppose you expect that
When we arrived on the first day we were told the spa was full despite me calling the day before asking if we could book spa treatments when we arrived and they said yes. On the first evening we rang reception twice to say our safe wouldn't open. They said someone would come and fix it as our laptops were inside and we needed them to work. No-one came and we had to call again in the morning after waiting for 2 hours. The next day someone came to fix it and had to saw it out of the wardrobe. he said it was our fault as our laptops were too big for it but when he did get it open there was heaps of room. I explained he needed to be delicate as my work laptop was inside but he said that there was nothing he could do but saw it open and he was actually quite angry with us for no reason at all. On the Saturday we wanted to have dinner in the brasserie but it was fully booked until 9.30pm so we were told we had to eat next door in the bar and the tables were too low for us to eat properly and we ate scrunched over a small table, not value for money, though the food was good. We needed wifi so we could work but the wifi kept cutting off and your staff said there was nothing they could do. Overall it was the worst hotel stay me and my husband have had in a long time. We paid a lot of money for a nice getaway close to our home and we felt like we should not have bothered. We run an events company in St Albans and your hotel was recommended to us, as you can imagine we were extremely disappointed.
Room was very tired walls marked, carpet stained. Very noisy as large gap under room door.
Spa facilities are excellent. Comfortable room though a little small.
Noise level in the basserie because there are no soft furnishing. This made it hard to hear one another over dinner. Rooms a little on the small side. no room for a bedside table and no bed side light!
Great facilities pleasant staff, nice surroundings
was upgraded but room provided was above conference centre so very noisy until late. ( Wedding reception) TV not working for whole of weekend.
Food Was Lovely Cocktail Bar was Fabulous Nice ambience Very Comfy Room
All the staff are excellent and very friendly. The choice of food and wine is very good and well presented in a nice atmosphere . the swimming pool is just perfect size and one depth through-out. ***a great place to get away****
would be nice if all TV's had u.s.b ports. through-out all the rooms some do and some don't.
great rural location but near to st.albans and good access to major roads nice spa and pool friendly staff restaurant food is good.
stayed here many times over the years service at breakfast not quite what it was minor irritations with staff slightly less attentive (drinks toast etc.) please bring back pots of tea the large containers of stewed lukewarm tea spoil an otherwise good breakfast. ps. I accept all these things are remedied on request.
