I thought the room was in need of decoration, as the wallpaper was stained with damp. I would have expected better for £135. I have stayed in a much nicer room in this hotel. |

A place with spirit, decorated in best English traditional style, but also providing contemporary facilities, like SPA with spacious swimming pool. Nice garden around, very well maintained, plenty of flowers. Location - a bit off town, especially if you do not have car. |

General environment, free swimming pool and steam room, sauna. Overall the hotel was a bit jaded and the standard of bedrooms was below my expectation. Some bedrooms are above a function room which during my stay was hosting a birthday party until gone midnight on a Sunday night. Not therefore the restful peaceful retreat I had anticipated. |

Nice hotel A little pricey and, unfortunately, noisy staff kept me awake during the early hours. Pretty inconsiderate to set up a conference room below hotel bedrooms at 3am! |

The grounds. The receptionist on check-in was very helpful, even though unable to provide what we wanted. The standard of service was variable. For example, at coffee on the terrace, it took four requests before an ashtray was brought, and a fifth before a clean one was provided. There were a number of occasions when the service fell short of what I expected, although there were others when it was good. |
