We had a warm welcome and help with our luggage. We were also given information about transport. The room was warm and comfortable and the food was generally good. All staff were friendly and helpful. The lemon cheesecake was very dry. The lighting in the bedroom was not very strategically placed. Could have had a light on the desk and one over the headboard of the single bed. More room for towels in the bathroom - maybe a warm towel-rail? Light switch could be in the bathroom so one doesn't disturb partners in the middle of the night!!

It is a very friendly place, most of the staff are related, they are an Italian family and it created a very warm atmosphere. I can't fault the helpfulness of the staff and the efficiency of the hotel. The breakasts were superb, and we ate in for one night and it was a good meal. It was a short busride from the city, and there is a big car park for guests. Very relaxed atmosphere. We were in the front of the hotel and the road was very busy late into the night and early in the morning. I wish we had been given a back room, so I think it would be worth requesting this if you book there.

We did not enjoy our one night stay at the hotel at all. The room was musty smelling , had the heating blasting out which we presume was to counteract the damp and mouldy walls. This Hotel rates as one of the worst accommadations we have ever had the misfortune to stay at . After reading the reviews I attempted to cancel the room with you but was advised the full price of the room would be charged to cancel booking . However, we decided to give it a go and stay at the hotel as alot of reviews are quite negative and of course personal views and are not always accurate. But in this case they were spot on and described the place exactly . The hotel needs closing down and renovating to tackle the mould and damp - The English breakfast was nothing to write home about , it consisted of baked beans ,sausage, egg and mushrooms and toast, that wasn't even toasted !!! - overall it was a Horrible smelly hotel in badly need of decorating and renovating - How it was awarded 3* I will never Know.

Convenience for public transport to and from city centre and railway station. Staff courteous. Light airy restaurant for breakfast. Bedroom space cramped. En-suite very small. Bath poor size. Would have been better described as en-suite shower. No guests used the restaurant in the evenings during our four night stay.

A nice family run hotel, with polite and friendly staff The breakfast was on par with more expensive hotels The hot food was cooked to order and served by family members who despite their young age were extremely competant and friendly without being intrusive. Not really a complaint but our room was a bit small and cramped, it appeared that the room size had been reduced to accommadate the ensuit facility.

I really like the quiet and that it is run by a wonderful Italian family from Sorrento. There is a peacful, home type calm about the place, and I was delighted to have use of the internet in the lobby. The staff is wonderful; friendly and helpful in every way. There is 24/hr desk service. The breakfast if really great; freshly cooked and quickly served. The only thing that I did not like was not having real coffee to make in my room. There was only granular instant coffee, which tasted really awful.

The hotel has a lovely atmosphere and is a genuine family run business, which is great to see nowadays. The rooms were very comfortable, with all amenities, and the breakfast was excellent. There is ample car parking and for the room rate the hotel has everything one could ask for. I was delighted.

“We were very impressed with the University Arms. It was centrally located so ideal for shopping and for eating and drinking. We booked early and got a good deal. The parking below the hotel was ideal as we had a lot of gear with our baby. We would love to come back and make the most of the bars in the hotel.” Robert, Stowlangtoft |
