Well situated in the south of Cambridge, this 3-star hotel is a convenient base for the business traveller or tourist. The good location and close proximity to the city’s ring road means this private hotel has good access to all of the region’s major roads, including the A14 and M11. The train station is just one mile (1.6 km) away and there is ample free car parking, protected by 24-hour CCTV cameras. There are good business facilities for up to 50 delegates and an à la carte restaurant offering authentic Italian food.

Well-maintained with a high standard of cleanliness throughout, the hotel has an à la carte Italian restaurant (closed on Sundays) and snacks available 24 hours a day. The restaurant also has a full wedding service for up to 150 guests and there is a bridal room with a double jacuzzi and sauna. Some rooms have disabled access.

The Sorrento Hotel & Restaurant has ample free car parking, with 24-hour closed-circuit television coverage for extra peace of mind.

The conference room boasts an unusual set up. Slightly different from the normal 4 walls, the conference room is airy and ornate, with arches down the centre. The room is fully air conditioned with the latest Dakin air conditioning units, which can be controlled via a remote control to ensure your conference will be as comfortable as possible. The conference room can accommodate 20 delegates in a boardroom-style layout or up to 50 delegates in a theatre-style layout.

Comida e bebida

The hotel’s restaurant offers authentic Italian cuisine and prides itself on using only the finest quality produce and ingredients fresh from Italy. Dishes also feature a wide range of organic herbs and vegetables from the restaurant’s own allotment, as organic produce is extremely important, and essential in some dishes.

The restaurant is popular with local people, as well as with hotel guests. Some of the dishes are legendary within the local community, including the Grigliata di Pesce Misto, an assortment of fresh exotic seafood, handpicked by the restaurant’s chefs.

The full à la carte menu is available from 18:30 until 21:30 and the restaurant is closed on Sundays.

The restaurant has a relaxed and informal atmosphere, with an authentic Mediterranean feel, thanks to the earthy colours, the marble floor and the charming brick archways. The restaurant is fully air conditioned with the latest Dakin air conditioning system.

After you have enjoyed a delicious Italian meal, you can relax in the bar area and enjoy a wide selection of digestifs or an espresso. Alternatively, you could sample one of the house cocktails. Limoncello has proved to be a popular choice to start or finish the evening.

Light snacks are available from room service from 21:00 to 07:00.

The hotel is located in the south of Cambridge and the very heart of the city is just 1.5 miles (2.5 km) away. All of the city’s shops are within walking distance, as are the historic colleges for which Cambridge is famous, including the beautiful King’s College, which is just 2 miles (3 km) away. All of the attractions of the Cambridge’s historic city centre are within easy reach.

Addenbrooke's Hospital is approximately 1.5 miles (2.5 km) from the hotel.

The hotel’s convenient location also means it has excellent transport links for those who wish to explore further afield. The close proximity to Cambridge’s ring road means the hotel offers easy access to all of the region’s major roads, including the M11 and A14. Cambridge’s train station is just one mile (1.6 km) away and trains run regularly from the station all around the region; there are regular trains to Norwich and trains also run regularly to London King’s Cross train station, with a journey time of just 45 minutes.

We found the staff helpful and our room was well-equipped. We enjoyed our evening meal in the restaurant.

Our room was too small for anything more than one or two nights.

Staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean and pleasant

When I arrived after a long journey at 18.15, the restaurant was taken over by a private wedding party so, unfortunately, only room service was available. The Central heating system in my room "knocked" for 20 minutes during warm up at 6 am waking me up

Food was poor - we expected pasta in an Italian hotel to be at least as good as we make at home. Breakfast service on the Saturday morning was appalling.

The hotel was neat and tidy and situated right next to a bus stop which takes you right into town. Its also within walking distance of a new leisure park which has gym,cinema, restaurants and bowling. Breakfast was nice and staff were polite and seemed helpful.

I stayed in a single room which was a bit on the drab side. There is a partition door which has a mechanism on it that swings the door shut should anyone try and leave it open. Unfortunately this means that when everyone goes down for breakfast they walk through the door which then swings back and bangs loudly. Enough to wake me up. They should sort that out.

The room was very comfortable and was good value for money

The food was not very good and did not represent good value for money. on any future stay I would eat out and not in the Hotel. The review made much of the Italian food but in my opinion it was not up to the stanard that the hotel made it to be .

Breakfast good in an airy dining room

Room was expensive for the size. Telephone enquiry about bus service to the hotel met with incomprehension, the person who answered knew nothîng about Cambridge, this was very unhelpful. Fortunately staff on the spot were friendly, courteous and efficient.
