We came to the New Forest for the first time and wanted to be near the coast and close to Bournemouth for the Air festival. Lovely quiet hotel in a great location, friendly efficient staff comfortable spacious room with good facilities, good breakfast selection. Good value for money. Lots of things to see and do in the area.
Tranquil setting away from the bustle of life.
Outdated decor, tired furniture and water stains on wall. Double glazing failure so view over fields was obscured.
bright room, lovely breakfast with good service and evening coffee in the lounge!
distance from public transport (trains) to New Forest
A beautiful setting, set in wonderful grounds first impressions are wonderful and when entering the hotel you are not disappointed, a little gem, some areas of the hotel are a little bit tired but we were informed that there is programme sort them . We will definitely stay again and are making enquiries to get married there.
The room although clean looked very tired, frayed curtains, chipped paint etc. A makeover is desperately needed!
Plenty of Parking space, well maintained Gardens, spacious clean room, friendly staff, good breakfast choice and quality, comfortable lounge area, Decor and furnishings a bit dated but this added to charm.
Lounge bar had limited choice of draught ales (only 1 on offer ) Car necessary because a way out of Town.
Food was good
Noise from gravel car park was really annoying at night time when trying to sleep.
Good proximity to Lymington if you have a car and not too far from the seaside. The rooms were slightly dated but clean and we didn't hear any noise from others in the hotel. Breakfast was nice with a good selection from the cooked menu and the mini warm pastries were a nice touch. Would recommend for a weekend away
Good location, clean, nice breakfast
Room, particularly bathroom, rather tired. V.poor shower, badly needs updating.
Location for Milford on sea
Hotel is tired
The look of hotel and grounds are beautiful Hotel has history which is lovely to read about. Staff friendly and helpfull. Good full breakfast
Even though the hotel has history it still needs some TLC. The bathroom needed updating Light bulb needed changing and battery in remote The double glazing had blown
Location near coast and New Forest. Comfort & good food well presented. Helpful & pleasant staff.
Nice size room, breakfast was good and pretty Gardens with plenty of car spaces
A bit dated and a bit out of the way from anything
How dated and shabby some areas are
Lovely setting, nice big rooms and friendly staff.
I think the hotel was a bit tired needs and update.
Spacious room with lots of light - nice views of the gardens. Car parking very close
Staff seemed unhelpful - no help with where amenities were etc. The bathroom was mouldy, smelly and the shower had little power as well as being very low.
The hotel very pleasant, service excellent, breakfast good selection. Location of hotel was perfect for our needs
Staff very good
Poor showers menu did not change from day to day
Hotel was relaxing Beautiful surroundings Short walk to beach Large comfy room Tasty breakfast Excellent staff
The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. The room was clean and spacious with comfy beds There was plenty of room in the car park and the hotel proved to be a good spot to explore the local area. Plenty of choice for breakfast.
Wi fi connection was only available by the reception desk. The hotel was in big need of a revamp. It was dated, perhaps last decorated in the 1980's. We had wallpaper peeling off the walls, a damp problem in the corner of our bedroom and an avocado bathroom suite! (but spotlessly clean).
Location, gardens, ambience very easy,,
Veggie breakfast rather skimpy..' asked politely for a "few more mushrooms" plate arrived half-empty ..reduced lacking meat and eggs.. no vegetarian specific option which is unusual these days; a friends full English was good; nice dining area by gardens, polite staff.
Hotel had character, very clean with fluffy towels, good bed linen in the room and crisp while table linen in the restaurant. The room was large and bright. The exterior of the hotel was charming and there was plenty of parking.
Bed, shower and wash hand basins were very low, possibly for the vertically challenged. Two hand basins in large bathroom, but one was cracked. The whole hotel was in need of a makeover. Carpets were worn, especially on the stairs, furniture and furnishings very tired and in need of up-dating. Some of the windows needed replacing as the double glazing was blown making them appear full of condensation. The menu didn't change and the meals were not brilliant.
A convenient location. Not far from the new forest and it's attractions, as well as being close to the sea. Idealy located for exploring for a few days. Quite hotel and comfortable beds.
The shower was more like a dribble, and the taps in the basin could do with some maintenance to get them to work properly.
Old style of building. Large airy room. Quiet location close to town and main roads. Lovely breakfast room with good food and service. Lots of car parking space.
