The breakfast was excellent value and suited everyone. The rooms were a good size and comfortable with tea and coffee. The view from the room was lovely-very relaxing.
The room needed some updating with cracks in the basin. The paintwork was starting to yellow and felt in need of a repaint.
The breakfasts were excellent. The staff was very helpful. The room was very comfortable.
This wasn't a bad experience, but it was puzzling. We stayed at the hotel for 1 week. We were assigned a table for breakfast. On the next to the last morning our table was changed. I have a gut feeling that this change would have offended English guests more than us. I also have a gut feeling that it was done to accomodate a couple who stay there frequently. No explanation was given.
I was on my own for 3 nights and with my partner for 2, Over Christmas with family in the village. My stay was made extremely easy.
Some of the bedroom furniture needs a French polish.
same dedicated staff as our last two visits
clean comfortable accommodation in lovely situation. pleasant helpful staff. well prepared and served food - especially the chips!
would have liked extra security on the inside of my bedroom door for overnight. Both bathroom taps in the washbasin ran hot water ( better than both being cold!)
This is a great stop over hotel, found it last year and we will stop here again if visiting the area
Location, cleanliness and staff friendliness.
Decorations and fittings, particularly bathroom now a little 'tired'.
My stay was just one night. I found South Lawn Hotel good in all respects. The staff were very polite and helpful, breakfast was well prepared and served quickly.
Room was slightly too cool but an electric heater was available - went to bed immediately so I didn't put the heater on. Duvet was thin for the time of the year so had to use the blanket provided. This would not deter me from staying again.
Friendly staff Good food Comfortable room
We had a lovely week end stay the staff very friendly and helpful. The room very comfortable and clean and food in the restraint was excellent.
In the evening when we went to the bar had to wait until the bar person was found.
Service was good. Bed linen and towels clean. Table linen very clean.
It could do with a touch up here and there like the curtains in our room were worn at the edges. The carpets on the landing were thread bare in places and the lounge could do with a touch up. But, we do not mind coming back one day!!
Comfort, cleanliness, staff
Shower didn't work. Refurbishments needed urgently
We have visited three times and always find staff helpful from the moment we walk in the door. Food is excellent. We like the informal atmosphere and it feels a relaxed place to visit. will definitely be going back again and again.Really have no critisims
we cannot fault this hotel

decor looking tired
great hotel...great value..excellent breakfast. within walking distance of good friendly village pubs. really enjoyed our stay. we will see you again! thankyou south lawn!!
A very relaxing atmosphere, within beautiful country surroundings. Good service and hospitality. A very spacious, comfortable room. Historical associations.
Rather remote. Motor transport essential.
We decided to extend a stay in the New Forest by another night and found that the price being asked by this hotel was very reasonable in comparison with others in the area. The room was much larger than we expected with all the usual facilities. Breakfast was good, fresh and plentiful. We were pleased to be offered help with our luggage and I am not able to say when and where this last happened.
Wallpaper was coming away from the wall behind the radiator and the decor was somewhat tired. However, everything was clean. Dinner was freshly cooked and hot but was what I would call good plain home cooking. If you are looking for a special meal I do not think that this would fit the bill.
Ideal location for coast and New Forest. Ample car parking. Friendly staff. Good sized bedroom and bathroom. Real evidence of upgrading over past few years Very tasteful Christmas decorations. Good breakfast cooked to order
Nothing really. We enjoyed our 2 night stay at very reasonable rates
Huge room with spacious bathroom including twin wash basins! We stayed in room 10 which is perfect for families with 2 children, who could share the double sofa bed, or 3 children if the youngest was in a cot. VERY quiet - no noise from the road or other rooms and the hotel was almost full. Not far to the beach for a morning walk. Generous, tasty breakfast, where nothing was too much trouble.
Shower wasn't much more than a trickle - I certainly couldn't have washed my hair under it. When I reported this to reception on departure they said they were aware of the 'pressure problem' and it would be sorted in the new year! I was even more disappointed to find this was a known problem and feel it should be more of a priority to sort it sooner as it marred an otherwise excellent stay.
Lovely location, not far from the beach, clean with friendly staff
Its looking a little dated
Overall,relaxing and comfortable.
On booking our stay,i specified that we are vegetarian, but this was not catered for, with our breakfast,i.e no veggie sausages,no hashbrown,no veggie bacon. So would have expected a little more effort, there.
