The location away from the main road The friendly welcome A lovely cooked english breakfast Spacious parking
I would prefer a shower instead of a bath Like the look of the bedcovers but would prefer just a fluffy duvet.
Friendly & very welcoming even though I arrived later than expected; was immediately offered a very welcome pot of tea ! Being forewarned of the difficulty my SatNav would have was very helpful. Very comfortable stay & will return. Thank you.
Very pleased that I was able to book & stay at South Newlands Farm - only thing I would mention is that a larger lit sign might help find the Farm a bit easier.
You just could not fault it, facilities, cleanliness, food was excellent I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone who wants to stay in this area of Yorkshire, beautiful peaceful surroundings and very helpful hosts
Paid very little and got what I consider to be very good value for money. Small single room was spotlessly clean and quiet, so slept well. Breakfast was very good, nice bit of bacon. If you want a large room and lots of facilities in it then this single room is not for you and you should not expect it to be for the mini price. If you are travelling alone and simply need a bed for the night and a nice breakfast and be on your way, and don't want to pay silly money, you should find this more than adequate. I have paid double and had much less in terms of value.
It's a bit of a way from the pub if you fancy a pint or three.
The owners were very kind trusting people.
On arrival we were offered tea and cake in the lovely sun-room. Later, the hostess drove us, in her own car, around the city of York. We were allowed to bring own food and use her kitchen table for dinner.
Location, quiet, staff and food
Despite my arriving late in the evening, Peggy was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean and comfortable and the location peaceful, with plenty of room to park my car. Delicious breakfast!
The warm welcome and easy manner of Rod and Peggy. No airs and graces at all, just wonderful homely hospitality, a quiet, comfortable room, fabulous breakfast with local and homegrown produce, sun room, tv room, barbaque facilities on a wonderful patio. Dogs allowed on request, depending on room availability. I felt at home from the outset , was welcomed with a pot of tea and biscuits upon arrival (included in the charge!) so welcoming after a very long and hot drive.and was made to feel that nothing was too much trouble.Ample parking, 20mins drive to York centre, park and ride close by although I did not use this service. Will recommend and hope to stay again.
Friendly welcome and good breakfast.
The peace, noone bothering you...if you asked you got and the couple who ran the place were very hospitable.
Nothing it was just ideal for me
Everything- homely hospitality, quiet, comfortable room, sun lounge and TV lounge for guests, fabulous breakfast with local and homegrown produce.
Hospitable welcome. Cup of tea and cake in the conservatory. Nice breakfast - English plus fresh fruit salad.
No WiFi - although I was not expecting it.
Homely people to stay with
Brilliant hosts. Big hearty breakfast , we felt very much at home . The darling buds of may is how we would describe it . Bloody perfick . We made two good friends there who will be on our Christmas card list !
The quietness and closeness to York Park and Ride.
Dogs in the house.
We liked sitting in the garden eating home made chocolate cake and drinking tea with our hosts, Rod and Peggy. Peggy knew everything about the area and advised us on the local places of interest.
The bedroom was a bit small
We wanted to visit the Yorkshire Air Museum so the location was ideal. We were so pleased to be offered a pot of proper tea on arrival, and the breakfast was superb. Thank you for such a welcoming and comfortable stay.
Had breakfast with the owners and a memeber of the staff despite me coming to breakfast far too late, they were spot on, lovely people.
The friendly welcome was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble, even finding an iron for me to use. I don't like dogs at all but their two 'beardies' were just gorgeous. Breakfast superb and cooked to order with plenty of delicious pots of Yorkshire tea. Location was excellent with good local knowledge from our hosts, especially the convenience of the Park and Ride which saved us stress and money. Beds were comfy, room was clean, guest lounge is excellent with superb panoramic views of the countryside. Rob and Peggy are already like old friends just from one visit. It's clear why they get so many repeat bookings. We look forward to staying with them again.
Farm atmosphere. Friendly staff. Very good breakfast
A bit a way from York city. But an easy commute never the less.
Friendly greeting, nothing was too much bother. Breakfast was brilliant.
Comfortable bed and excellent breakfast
