South Sands

The position of the Hotel was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. The food was top class. The view from the bedroom was very good.

The bedroom we felt was a little cramped whilst the bathroom was huge. We felt that more space in the bedroom would have been better. An example of the cramped space was the wardrobe door had a mirror fitted on the inside but we could not open the door fully to use the mirror. The door opening being restricted by the bedside table. Also the room safe was on the base of the wardrobe which necessitated kneeling down to access it. Suggest this would not be easy for older guests.

Refurbished to a fantastic standard. Beautiful interior design, particularly the metalwork. Accomodation and food/service all excellent. Great location on the beach.

The staff, all were friendly and helpful,nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent although rather fish orientated.

Decor was fine, some staff were very helpful but others weren't.

We were very cold on the n ight we stayed as the heating wasn't working. They put a fan heater in the room but not the ideal thing for a boutique hotel with boutique hotel prices.

Location/ room view excellent. Reception staff very courteous and helpful.

Beach would benefit from a daily clean to remove seaweed. Breakfast standard fair - would benefit from increased variety and higher level of service from staff. Restaurant location exceptional, however having paid a lot for the room, it would have been nice to have been offered a window seat for our evening meal on one of our night stay.

Great price through booking.com, lovely 'enterprise' room with a bath in the room. Wonderful views, relaxing stay.

Room was very warm but that wouldn't stop us returning, the only other thing we didn't like was a loud woman with her loud son !

A very well appointed hotel with interesting interior construction and decor. Very well maintained and clean. Our bedroom was very large clean and smart. Breakfasts were excellent. We did not take dinner mainly due to cost. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Music in the bar and dining room; Stone/heavy gravel covering to path from car park which made using wheelie-case difficult; Poor lighting in bathroom - not possible to apply make-up there.; in-room bath was somewhat gimmicky!

Food was very well cooked and very tasty. Room was comfortable and well equipped. Staff were very pleasent and helpful. Location was fantastic.

Water leak in bathroom from room above. WiFi was slow at peak times. Wine list was in process of changing so not all wines were available and alternatives were not priced as they were not on list.

room was small- no where to clear cushions etc but onto the floor reducing an already small floor space; Window straight onto road and car park with clear glass so can't open curtains for light when in bed or changing

Great hotel in a beautiful setting with amazing seaside views. Clean rooms, attentive staff and lovely food. Free wifi and parking too. Thank you.

Very relaxed style, great bar and restaurant, fantastic location. Made you feel very welcome.

Getting a diner booking was harder than it should have been on the first night. Staff were attentive and sorted it out in the end. Suggest they ask and reserve at booking stage for first night. (didn't happen)

Not being advised no restaurant service for the second evening.

One of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at. The staff were brilliant, attentive and caring without beig overbearing. The room was beautifully presented and exceptionally clean with the fluffiest towels ever. Our evening meal was delightful as was the whole atmosphere at South Sands. Looking forward to returning again in the not too distant fututre.
