The Southbourne Villa9 Cleveland Road, TQ2 5BD Torquay (Show map) Wonderful, Score from 120 reviews“The warmth of the hosts. The cleanliness of the hotel. Breakfast was cooked to order and excellent. Could not fault the Southbourne and would recommend.”

Good breakfast, excellent bacon, good range of fruits and condiments. Bathroom tired, however new owner did say it was due for refurbishment. Similar hotels in area also have flat screen TV,s this would be also a useful improvement.

Family run, staff were very friendly and welcoming from the minute we arrived. Offered tea and coffee straight away and gave us a lot of information about the area and the best places to eat etc. Breakfast in the morning was cooked from fresh and there was a wide range of things to choose from. The hotel was quiet and felt very homely, the room was clean and good value for money. Would definitely stay again. Was walking distance from shops, the beach and pubs. Nothing that I could complain about.

This guest house is outstanding, on all counts. Very high standard with regard to accommodation, decor, cleanliness, breakfast provided - cannot fault any of it. The guest house is far better than some establishments which hold hotel rating. Lovely touches such as providing robes, chocolates on the tea cups and a fridge in the room with complimentary bottled water and fresh milk for tea making facilities. Nothing is too much trouble for the hosts. Location is good for walking into town, and the station. Lots of recommendations for places to eat. Nothing was too much trouble, even the provision of jump leads for our flat car battery! Highly recommend. Not so much a dislike, but more a disappointment. Would have liked to have used the hot tub. Didn't realise it was seasonal (season finished end September) until we read the guest folder. Having said that, had we mentioned it to the host, I am sure he would have been accommodating!

We booked a superior double there was nothing wrong with the room it was comfortable and spacious it also had a mini fridge which was very useful, we found the owner and his wife very helpful and friendly, the breakfast was one of the best we have had in b&b accomadation, the hotel is situated in a nice quiet location and yet not to far from the centre of torquay The only criticism we have is that the shower had no pressure and water came out as a dribble

The Southbourne Villa is maintained to an exceptionally high standard. The rooms and common parts are scrupulously clean, and the rooms are well serviced each day. The propieter and his wife are extremely welcoming and accommodating, and are excellent hosts. There is a very good breakfast served in a large and sunny dining room. I can't fault the hotel in any way, although it is about a 30 minute walk to the harbour.

We had the most fantastic welcome by our host David bringing us tea and biscuits upon arrival. Stayed in a beautiful room, provided with some lovely finishing touches. We had a superb breakfast each morning, lots of variety to choose from. The hosts offered great hospitality, always happy to help you with directions or where to eat locally. This was undoubtedly the best b&b we have stayed in and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Torquay. In our opinion it was faultless!!! Thankyou David and Edna.

Southbourne Villa is a beatifully kept hotel, spotlessly clean and well presented. The thought for detail is really refreshing and the owners extremely pleasant, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, and the selection and presentation were outstanding. One of the best hotels I have had the pleasure to stay in and thoroughly recommended.
