Gym Size of room Cleanliness
Bathroom old decor and floral Staff not over welcoming
great central location with easy access to the centre
we were on the third floor with the window open and there was a lot of noise from revellers at 3am which disturbed us
Being able to use the room until 12.00 noon on day of departure.
The condition of the bathroom.
Very friendly and efficient welcome at front desk. Quiet room. Good breakfast. Good value dinner menu. Very close to centre of Exeter.
Setvice and food excellent
Rooms dated, not maintained as you would expect from mercure. Cracked floor tiles in bathroom, paint flaking off bathroom ceiling I to floor, stains on carpet, family room with only one bed. This is not 4 star quality, but it cost me 4 star money. Felt let down my mercure with this one
Very apologetic reception staff, complimentary drink for inconvenience, already booked a room in another hotel, taxi to/from the other hotel to avoid duplicate car park charges.
At arrival we were informed our room was not habitable due to the previous occupant having an "accident". Other hotel was more in city centre so had a terrible night with little sleep. Still awaiting phone call from sales manager at Mercure as we were promised on leaving.
Staff were brilliant.
friendliness and helpfulness of staff and general cleanliness throughout the hotel. Perfect position for walking to the city centre and adequate parking. Excellent breakfast.
Hard pillows. Shower made a loud noise when turning on and during taking a shower. Room 251. Cost of parking quite high.
Location and friendly atmosphere
Getting woken up at half 2 by a drunk person.
Bar and restaurant looked very nice.
I phoned in advance to see if we'd be able to check into the room an hour early and was told it wouldn't be a problem. Upon arrival we weren't able to check in. Room had someone else's hairs all over the bathroom where someone had shaved off a beard. We couldn't check in on arrival and due to plans didn't go into the room until 10:30pm so didn't want to change rooms at that time of night. Check in staff charged £30 to my card in case of wanting anything extra during the stay then lost our card details and couldn't refund it upon checkout.
Location for Exeter town excellent. Good gym facilities. Good breakfast.
Parking was a concern as the hotel was full and so restricted our use of the car to guarantee a place.
T.V didn't work. Showers a bit dodgy.
We had a couple of snags with the supplies in our room. The manageress handled it well and provided immediate supplies plus extras and an apology.
Check out service had much improved from last visit.
Restaurant is understaffed. The very good staff there are, are rushed off their feet and this is unfortunately reflected in the service you receive. They always manage to remain very pleasant and cheerful however
Food very good for both Breakfast and Dinner. In addition Afternoon Cream Tea very enjoyable and good value for money.
This is my second stay within a few weeks and I only went back because of the location which suited the personal reasons for my stay. My adult daughter stayed with me. This is the only Hotel I have ever stayed at where the beds are not properly made if you stay for more than one night. The bottom sheets are not straightened, they just pull the duvet up. This has happened on both occasions, not what you would expect from a Hotel that has such a rating. In addition, I was charged for two night Car parking whereas on my first stay this charge was wavered. Where does the Hotel expect its Residents to park if not in their Car Park. This visit my room was adjacent to a flat roof which made one feel a bit vulnerable if the window was open. On my second night I heard people on the roof, they knocked on a neighbouring window which was opened to them. I did report this incident but never heard anything else about ti.
Wetherspoons style decor and furnishings
Bar Staff always very unhelpful. We always end up with the same barman Josh who is very reluctant to accommodate us - ordered a bottle of Proscecco (rather than 3 separate glasses) which would have been better for your takings but was told "bit of a pain as have to go to the cellar!!" - Hello you are a barman ! Then night porter not helpful at all when serving drinks after hours seemed miserable. They do need some re-training in customer service
Location was very good
Noisy at the weekend, music heard till late!
Centre of City
Very helpful and friendly staff, rooms well equipped, great breakfast. And quick and simple swipe key system.
Better lighting required around mirrors to facilitate make up. And car parking should be free
Fast check in Beautiful clean room Comfy bed Brilliant location for the town Friendly and efficient staff
Paying £10 for car park Price of breakfast, there are so many lovely local places to eat at a fraction of the price!
The swimming pool and Spa were clean and well equipped and the pool was very warm
The breakfast buffet was not up to the standard of the evening meal, no fresh fruit, a large lump of solid (frozen) fruit in the compote and fried eggs on both days very dried up.
Up-graded room very comfortable. Excellent evening meal in smart dining room.
We stay every year for a reunion next door. This hotel is also close to the cathedral and shops but away from noise. Good size pool too.
Paying £10 a day for the car park.
