All staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful
Noisy groups using facilities making too much noise late at night
The breakfast was good although the waiters not attentive. Hotel looked inviting.
Car parking awful.Had to queue for an hour for car park space. Lots of noise outside the hotel into the early hours so very little sleep. Problem should have been seen on cctv and dealt with before phone call asking them to do something. Should have thicker double glazing.Bar prices very dear.
The food at breakfast was good,
Had to complain about the noise outside the hotel. Lots of people outside after midnight shouting and singing. Went on til 3.30 a.m. Had to phone down to complain. Should have been picked up on cctv and dealt with. People smoking just outside main doors. Waiters at breakfast unavailable. Not impressed.
Nice and clean
Didn't get the view requested. Mini bar wasn't replenished when room was cleaned. Seemed like quite a corporate place to stay. Parking was a nightmare
Helpfulness of the staff The bar prices were reasonable
Not much - bathroom a little on small side
Hotel is very clean, and staff offer first class service
Car parking can be a problem.
Position of the hotel. Food. Comfort of bed. Friendly staff. Spa facilities were great. Bathroom facilities excellent . Clean everywhere :)
Very poor wi fi. Hard to park the car, not enough parking spaces. No help with any baggage, had to struggle with cases and bags.
Location is close to City centre. Good meal and service in the restaurant for dinner. Good buffet style breakfast - the food was much hotter than some buffet breakfasts.
Comfortable, quiet room.
Very poor lighting.......stygian gloom with poor, dim bedside lights.....impossible to read!!!
The immediate response to a room problem. We were moved within minutes.
The room thermostat was broken. Hence it was icy cold.
Convenient location - only a few minutes' walk to the town centre. Quiet room with a large and very comfortable bed. Friendly, well trained staff. A good breakfast with lots of choice.
Room was of a good size but the decor and furnishings seemed a bit tired and in need of renewal.
Location excellent, friendly staff and good gym/pool facilities
Noise from the corridor was obtrusive, the doors to rooms did not seem to be well insulated enough from the corridor in terms of noise. Also there was an xmas party of some sort so could hear music/bass until late. Room was nicely decorated but bathroom was out-dated and needed re-furbishment.
hotel itself was very nice, excellent location.
price of food etc. ( we ate out every time). noise from functions downstairs and outside our room ppl smoking and making noise until 2am, so had no sleep for 2 days.
Flying visit : nice pool
Bit noisy in the corridors!
The reception staff did the hotel proud. Very helpful and pleasant. The house keeping staff ( the lady we saw seemed nice). Full marks. Would stay again but probably won't eat at hotel.
The restaurant staff at breakfast were not very helpful, seemed more interested clearing table's than helping the guest. Tea was Luke warm and not helpful with my gluten problem. Very average. Fridge in room didn't work.
Well positioned for town centre, cathedral, quayside and lots of restaurants.
Nothing, everything suited us well
Quick to walk into central Exeter and the cathedral... it's also on a relatively quiet street, not far from Exeter Central station. We only stayed one night so didn't use all the facilities the hotel offers, but the pool is good.
Lumpy pillows... the bed was comfortable but the pillows were hard.
The location was amazing, the staff attentive and kind to my 6 year old daughter, an easy comfortable couple of nights
Location, facilities and staff.
Rooms were quite small.
Lovely weekend away in my favourite Exeter hotel. My 5th stay at this hotel & nothing has changed. Excellent service from a well drilled team, fantastic food, great leisure facillities & all this in a perfect location for access to Exeter. Thankyou to the team at Mercure Exeter
Location Ambience Staff courteous and helpful Comfort Swimming pool Breakfast
Location excellent Staff friendly and helpful Tasteful decor Quiet Comfortable
The room was lovely, beds comfortable and the breakfast excellent. The location is just perfect and the 'feel' of the hotel is one of luxury.
The time taken to check in and out is terrible. The time wasted waiting to deal with the mundane routine of this is excessive - a busy hotel that needs more reception staff.
convenience of distance from the shops and restaurants.
Towel rail and shower did not work, shabby beverage tray in room, past it's best. A bottle of water would be a nice gesture!
restaurant food and service was very good
Overpriced drinks in bar
