Location perfect. Comfort excellent. Would stay again.
had to pay for car parking but that is expected in the city
Fantastic room for myself & my children with excellent facilities. Helpful staff who very quickly sorted out a mistake with our booking.
the staff were all very pleasant and helpful. the main desk staff were caring and polite
My only niggle was the car parking charge. The hotel would be better served if they included the ten pound charge into the cost of the room up front
safe and convenient car parking in a busy City! suits our needs when we go to Exeter!
The food----excellent. Kippers for breakfast!!
Location, set up. Parking onsite was easy 10gbp per 24 hrs . Simple strol in to city centre.
Make sure you have your booking ref with you. Clearly there is lack of system alignment with booking ref. / charges. I booked for 2 nights at £158 total, but the hotel tried to charge me this per night.....no chance....
Breakfast was excellent and delivered to our room at no extra cost.
Booked a premier room and the bathroom was a wet room. Would have preferred a bath.
Easy to walk to city attractions. Recommend Mangoes cafe at the Quay.
Very disappointed to discover 2 days before stay that all leisure facilities, normal restaurant and bar area were closed to major refurbishment. These were the main reason for choosing hotel.
Beautiful hotel well placed lovely friendly staff, good breakfast
Nobody told us the hotel was being refurbished, we had been told the swimming pool would be shut but not that the dining room and bar and noisy builders ,disappointed as this is a lovely hotel that we have stayed before and will again
Staff were great!
Asked for twin room twice and was still given a double with a sofa bed so my 18 year old son had to sleep on this instead of proper bed. Room was not how it was represented in the photos.
There was no breakfast available from 1020am on sunday even though it was paid for. Also when ordering a drink at the bar there was no change given.
We enjoyed Exeter and the proximity to the centre for an event we attended.
We booked the hotel partly due to the pool, sauna and jacuzzi but these were then closed for upgrade; if we had known when booking we would have booked another hotel.
The room was comfy and the shower was fantastic. Great location, near the shop, restaurants, cathedral and quayside.
Very disappointed that swimming pool was shut for renovation. No prior notice was given on either the hotel's nor Booking.com's website. (The hotel has now amended its website).
Upon arrival it became clear that I'd made a silly mistake with booking - right dates but the wrong month . The lady at reception kindly arranged a room with no notice , and had housekeeping quickly make up the sofa bed for my son . She communicated the error to the booking website this ensuring that I did not have to pay twice . All done with a smile !
The only minor quibble I could have is that it should be compulsory for swimmers to wear swim hats . I found I was filtering long strands of hair in my mouth ! Some gentlemen with Tresses worthy of Rapunzel herself were sharing the pool . Yeucchh .
Room clean, comfortable and warm. Shower was luxury. Would stay again.
My mobile 'phone did not work in 1st floor room and hotel 'phone cost a lot.
The food was poor and had to be sent back twice
Staff very helpful.
-Renovations. -Toilet paper was poor. -Nespresso machine but only 3 pods.:- one was very strong, one decaf so therefore only one normal and we were two people. Wi fi didn't really work.
Nice to have a pool and sauna.
Reception staff were good & helpful. Our boys enjoyed the swimming pool in the morning, and it was only a short walk to the Cathedral and the older parts of the city.
Left over lunch/breakfast trays left outside rooms for many hours.
Disliked the fact that the room I booked said family room but in reality I got a disabled room with a double bed. Not good value. Room was ok, not as up to date as other Mercure hotels I've stayed in. Bathroom really poor , very old and dated very dingy ! Grim !Parking not free an additional £10 cost on top of already overpriced room . Would not recommend or stay again .
Hotel refurbishment and functions detracted from stay as did over priced snacks
the location was fantastic, 5 mins walk to cathedral and town center and the river, good breakfast, leisure facilities were great, the room was very modern and clean,
Just some items which would have been useful, a Toilet brush, body cream, biscuits, and a note pad and pen, which is the norm in most hotels,
Design of furniture 1980s Next directory. Building work no bar and eating area customers not told. Privilege room more expensive but smaller than other rooms with no additional extras. Credit card prepaid by £60 "just in case." £300 for 2 nights accommodation then 20 for the car. Probably the dullest hotel I have ever stayed in. I can think of no reason to use Mercure hotels ever again.
We like this hotel, perfect location and good facilities. Adjoining rooms are good for families.
Should have been given notification at time of booking of renovations and big party Saturday evening. No proper bar facilities available so a long wait for one hard working waiter. Too long a wait for breakfast in the morning so we left and ate in town. Disappointing for us as we like this hotel.
