Very friendly, clean and in an excellent location. We traveled by train to Fratton and walked to the hotel which was only 5 minutes away, we where there to watch a show at the Kings theatre which is 2 minutes walk from the hotel. Cant comment on the breakfast as I was hung over and missed it.
The husband and wife who run Southsea Lodge are both very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Permits for parking great and cheap for 24hrs. Loved the corner bath and our room was a fab size. I would definitely stay again.
I would stay again. Only a small recommendation the shower was nice but the power very slow. Our toilet sometimes wouldn't flush.
It was a lovely b&b, friendly owners and family atmosphere.. Not over businessy and distant. Felt very welcome thank you
Nice family run B&B, very clean room, nice bed, had my first good nights sleep for over three weeks. Would recommend this hotel.
Everything was just as it always is, very good
confusion at checkin permit needed to park not told about not informed time of breakfast so did not get any as we were 15 mins late offered toast and cereal only no refund offered card details given at time of booking and on arrival but was phoned on journey home to ask for them again as payment was not taken will be checking my account in case I have been charged three times will never use this hotel again
A good place to stay, great value for money.
Made to feel really welcome. Able to come & go as you want. Very convenient for central Southsea, but not too close to get noisy. Good location to explore the wider area.
Arrived on Saturday evening & finding car parking was a bit difficult at first. Local parking restrictions obviously not the owners fault & they do have permits for sale which solves the problem.
Friendly welcome on arrival
One table at breakfast, for all guests to share.would have preferred separate tables. Breakfast too slow one served then next breakfast about ten minutes later.problem with eggs breaking but rest of meal cold whilst waiting for correct egg.
nothing 3rd night in Portsmouth in 3rd accommodation which was the worst - I would recommend travelers stay in a hotel -
terrible mattress noisy - even though it is in a residential area my room looked onto a busy road and the poor sound proofing meant lots of noise from traffic, passersby etc. So combined with saggy mattress and noise I didn't get much sleep poor service poor welcome on arrival - you feel as if you are putting them out! Not even a goodbye or help with case on departure.. tea and toast arriving after the cooked breakfast ... I requested just bacon, egg and tomato and got just one small piece of bacon and one egg! the room was shabby with cheap furniture and large cobwebs in the corners - however that would not have mattered so much had I got a decent night's sleep
Location convenience. Ambience and style. Friendly family-run staff. Comfortable room
Temperature of room too high. Synthetic duvet. Matress too soft.
A very generous breakfast in a very comfortable B&B.
Traditional B and B which is what we wanted. Spacious rooms with excellent free ginger nuts ...relaxed atmosphere...good breakfast.
It seems rooms can only take two and as a family of three it was a bit pricey considering we had had to pay x two and were approaching three star hotel rates...but that was our decision so no complaints.
Helpfulness and friendliness of the lady who looked after us. Clean and comfortable room.
Could be updated in décor.
Very friendly people The location is good as you can take the bus, the station is very close to the house
A bit expensive Poor food quality The children that live in the house were a bit noisy
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Local area a bit rough, neighbour with taped up front window and mattresses piled up in front garden. Have to pay extra to park on road outside. woken in morning by neighbour shouting "turn the fxxking music down you noisy bxxtard!!! out loud from back garden to another neighbour.
It's a nice family house, 10 min. walking distance from the tourist spots in the city. Room and bathroom are very clean. Breakfast is home made and delicious. Owners are very friendly and nice people. Had a great stay there and I would definitely recommend the house.
The room might need some renovation, but it's not a problem as it's really clean and you have everything you need to have a comfortable stay.
The owners were very helpfull & friendly & the breakfast was really nice. Just wish we could have stayed longer.
Only a little thing the road was a little noisy.
the room was a good size. clean and tidy loved the jar of ginger knobs in the room
that we where going to be charged a sofa bed to be made up on arrival so we made it up ourself for no cost.
The Breakfast was very good and tasty. The Breakfast-room was like family-diningroom. Nice and cosy. The landlord and his wife talk to us and give us history background of the surroundings and what to see in Portsmouth-Southsea.
The staff and family very helpfull and a pleasure to associate with.
Wonderful welcome on arrival and room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was really good with a wide choice to choose from. Near to all amenities and would certainly stay again as they are great hosts.
Nice building,well maintained.Bright and clean room,nice and quiet.Friendly owners
Everything, lovely staff made to feel very welcome excellent breakfast. Staff Helped plan our trip they were very informative of sightseeing etc.
Wifi was good signal. Location good for harbour and town.
Cost seemed high for the quality of facilities - bathroom was separate from room; had to sit round a communal table for breakfast. Decor was shabby in places.
