The hotel could be good but needs greater attention to detail. For example beds should be properly made each day.Staff wish to be friendly but they must also be effecient. Too many errors occur and was a feature throughtout my stay. A shame with strong leadership the hotel could be a pleasure to stay at.

Tha bar staff were friendly and helpful along with the night porter.

The matress in the bedroom was awful, you just roll into the middle which is not great when you're sharing a bed. The loft rooms do not have proper blinds on the skylights, allowing all daughter to enter your room at 5am!!!

    The food was very tasty

The bed was very uncomfortable - the mattress should be thrown away & replaced. Main room needs a mirror preferably near a socket and be full length. They need more than one music album in the restaurant

Staff were very friendly. Good Breakfast.

Room 27. Near some sort of water tank... gurgling and water flushing noises all night. Kept waking my wife and myself up so not a good nights rest at all. Travelling with friends who had shockingly substandard rooms and we ended up feeling sorry for them.

Lovely room; very spacious and comfortable. Lovely comfy bed and great food. Service was excellent and the owners were very friendly and helpful.

Radiators a bit noisy in the evening but were ok overnight (reported this to helpful owners).

Was presented with a very warm welcome when I arrived and that same level of hospitality remained during my stay. My room was clean, tidy, comfortable and very quiet. The free wifi was a bonus although for some reason it seemed to stop working after midnight. The location was perfect for exploring the local countryside, although if you're planning a night on the town a taxi would be necessary. Next time I'm in the area I'll definitely make a point of returning.

No issues at all, although a choice of ales (even bottled) would have been nice.

All the staff seemed to go out of their way to make sure everyone had the most fantastic stay. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We really enjoyed the whole experience.

If anything, perhaps it was a little bit pricey for our double room, but having said that, you could say....'you get what you pay for'.

Staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was excellent. Good location. Had a lovely big garden which would have been great to sit in but weather had other ideas. Really large room with separate sitting area and TV. Great for solo traveller. Lots or free on site parking too.

The wi-Fi was a bit hit and miss. Fine in the bar area but signal strength not brilliant in rooms and wouldn't stream film to my iPad. Room was large but decor in need of modernisation, clean enough but a bit tired around the edges.

We had room 21 - executive style room which was well appointed, comfortable and massive

Sound of air in the plumbing in the morning when people either flushed the toilet or turned the taps on - very noisey but didnt last long.

Dining room and bar areas, nice driveway

Basic, not as posh as the photos, no better than a Premier Inn.

Staff were very helpful, great place would recommend and stay there again. Decor around the house was very nice

Floor boards and doors were a bit creaky but due the hotel being a bit old it is understandable.

Efficient friendly atmosphere had not been in this part of Lancashire for many years but the old warmth of the people is still there thank goodness we have relatives still living fairly close so we will happily return to Sparth House we live in Co Durham so the travelling is not too difficult many thanks Barry and Alison Nutter a family name well known to the area and sadly abused by some

    No problems

Huge room, very comfortable and clean. Parking ample and secure. Great price for the facilities.

Location out-of-town so OK for our purposes but not if you wanted a night in the town centre and to avoid taxis. Hotel under renovation so some areas looking unloved at present, but sure this will be rectified shortly.
