Very pleasant surroundings and friendly staff. Upstairs cottage rooms could be quite difficult for elderly people to access. WiFi reception is only available in the immediate reception area.

The hotel is in a beautiful location, and the building is amazing with such a wonderful history, your staff are to be commended, they are friendly and helpful. Service in the restaurant was quick and the food was hot. The room was a lovely room, the bed was comfortable. I know its an old building and the floor boards will creak a little, but omg the creaking from the room above was really bad, it woke me in the night when they got up to use the bathroom. And the noise from the main road was quite bad too, but that is the only down side, everything else was very nice.

Friendly helpful staff. Well arranged function. Coffee at breafast was very poor. Would be better served in individual pots.

Speech House fillled us with that love of all. The non- repetative chain hotels, the label from Best western Hotels(no longer in the group) the quirky rooms with that little bit extra on style. Different, flamboyant, totally an experience to be lived through and the following day's memorial went so well that we knew we should have stayed an extra day. Lovely to stretch your legs in the woods and feel fresh air. Best in winter with the mock coal fires which gave off heat and had us all standing in front warming our exteriors. See you again in the summer. I do have a thing about non functioning showers. If you replace remove old thing and make sure they all work. Bottled water in room, for no extra is nowadays a must

Extremely friendly staff, especially reception area. Went out of their way to make us comfortable. Good food great location. Would have liked a bath, but opted to stay in chalets so just shower, but as we were only there one night all ok, as much my fault as should have read the spec.

The location as we were meeting up with family members close-by and to visit my husband's mother's grave at the cemetery in the Forest as my husband is originally from Cinderford. The Speech House is a place my husband always talked about whenever we visited the area but this was the first time we had stayed there. I would rather have stayed in the main part of the hotel and guess this is what I should have stipulated when booking. However, this wasn't evident when booking on-line.

The staff were all superb, notwithstanding the cheerful 'Hi Guys' greeting from a young waitress... Food magnificent. Room in need of some decorative restoration and bed cover urgently needs replacing but bed itself comfortable and linen clean and lovely. Bath rather small for a good comfortable soak after a long drive. Overall a good experience. The room we had was in the roof and two 'mature' old buffers had to puff and pant up several flights of stairs with the luggage. Note to self - next time ask for a room on ground/1st floor of any hotel without a lift :-)

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. All staff were wonderful and couldnt be more helpful.Despite the poor weather the hotel was warm and comfortable. Our room was excellent, very comfortable with good fittings and extremely clean. Dinner in the hotel was superb and our 4 guests who joined us for the meal were all highly satisfied. We would definately stay again and recommend the hotel to our friends. For feed-back purposes only. The hotel does not have lifts and it would have been useful if the website booking asked if the visitor had any disabilities in order that room bookings on the lower floors could be offered.

The location both because of a family event held locally and it's position in the forest. It really has no competition. Clean, welcoming and helpful. Time for a bit of an uplift in decor but not desperate. More like nice b and b than hotel. Could do with putting local information in the rooms there was nothing.

Very friendly staff and food very good as had cooked breakfasts each morning - cooked to order and stayed for evening meals and the food was superb! Walls a bit thin and could hear the people in the rooms on either side - were in the extension outside.

The room's 7 ft bed was spectacular, and the whole experience in hotel was excellent. Location in centre of historical forest is beautiful. It is overall a warm friendly hotel, with lots of stories to tell. The dining room, and old court house, is a joy. The restaurant food was very good and a delicious breakfast! Whilst I appreciate and value the traditional decor, some areas are a little tired and worn, with architrave and door glossing a large requirement. I was also very disappointed that the main WCs had been updated in such a modern style, totally out of keeping with the comfortable traditional style the hotel requires. I would ask the new owners to think hard before over-modernising the rest! It needs more styling as a classy country pursuits hotel for families.

The room was pleasant enough but the lighting very poor, mainly due to the marquee being directly outside the window ...perhaps the lighting could be improved ...especially for us more mature people :) The toilet seat is stained underneath which is something you should address immediately.

From the moment you walked in the staff were all very polite and pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble and they seemed very happy in their work. Food was vey good and the choice at breakfast was excellent. The history of the Speech House was very interesting and although in the country, it was close to the all amenities & places of interest. Although we understand they may have weddings at weekends, it was very quiet during our visit. We have stayed at several hotels in this area and we must say, this was by far the best
