The nearby Clearwell Caves provide a fantastic caving experience for those who enjoy adventure. The site is only 7.7 km away from the Speech House. Just 9.3 km away is DBC Leisure which provides Clay shooting and archery. Also nearby, at 11.6 km away from the hotel, is the Royal Forest of Dean Angling Club which offers excellent sport on various waters. The club has the fishing rights on 7 ponds and lakes in the forest, these ponds are well looked after and the fishing can at times be even better than on the river. The wonderful Forest of Dean scenery gives an added pleasure to fishing at Meadowcliffe Pool, Lightmoor, Marion's Pool, Steam Mills Lake, and others.

For those who love animals, enjoy a walk with llamas and camels in the beautiful Forest of Dean at Severn Wye Llama Trekking, 25.6 km from the Speech House. Severnvale Equestrian Centre is 21.6 km from the property, and is set in 60 acres of beautiful countryside. This approved Riding Centre offers friendly, experienced and thoughtful instruction to complete beginners and experienced riders alike.

Set in the scenic Wye Valley, 9 km from the hotel, Forest Combat Paintballing offers an exciting and exhilarating adventure for all thrill seekers. Only 4 km away from the Speech House is Go Ape! an adventure course complete with rope bridge, Tarzan swings and zip slides 40 feet above the forest floor. Go Ape! provides laughter and adventure up in the trees, as well as an exciting way to enjoy the forest. Additionally Motiva Ropes Course, just 6.9 km from the hotel, provides a great range of team challenges from ground level up to 40 feet in the trees.

For those who take delight in being around water should head to Wye Pursuits. Travel information

From Monmouth: Turn off a40 on to the a466 to Chepstow. Take left over bridge, a4136 signposted Forest of Dean. At traffic lights turn right on b4228, signposted Coleford. In Coleford centre go left at lights on the b4208, signposted Speech House. Take third right, signposted Speech House. From Ross on Wye: Leave Ross on A40 towards Gloucester. After 3 miles turn right, signposted Drybrook. Go through Drybrook. At T junction turn left. At next junction turn right. After 2 miles turn left, signposted Lydney. At next junction turn left. Speech House is at the top of the hill. From M5 Gloucester: Leave motorway at junction 11. Follow A40/ A48 signs for Chepstow. Once on the A48, continue to Westbury on Severn. Take third right after village A4151 Cinderford. Go right through Littledean, and at top of hill bear left on B4226 to Speech House. The Speech House is 7 miles from Westbury on Severn. From M4 and Chepstow: Leave M4 for the M48 to Chepstow. Leave M48 at junction 2, and proceed through Chepstow on A48 to Lydney. Bypass Lyndney on A48, and proceed to Blakeney. In Blakeney, take first left after The Cock Inn. Proceed for 3 miles to top of hill. Turn right to Speech House.

Important information

For children over 14 and adults, breakfast and accommodation is charged at £15.00 per person if sharing a room with two paying adults. Bookings are subject to availibility and rates may vary on public holidays and Valentine's Day.
A 25% deposit may be required to confirm bookings and will be required for group bookings. Holiday cottage lets are available on a short term or weekly basis. All bookings are subject to the hotel's standard terms and conditions.
