Very friendly and helpful staff
Very near DeMontfort halls
wifi would have been useful
Really welcoming staff. Central location - five minute walk to the university. Plenty of local places to eat. Warm room. Excellent breakfast.
Nothing major - bed and pillows bit hard but nothing I couldn't cope with. Would still return.
Friendliness of owner. Location close to the railway station but in a quiet area. Price reasonable and breakfast included.
Limited choice for breakfast. No porridge. The eggs were small. Being asked to take breakfast quite early. Being asked to check out by 10.30 am
Very clean; completely different from modern, business corporate hotels. Very nice owner. Free wi-fi
i'd have liked another pillow and have no doubt that it would have been provided if i'd asked!
Quick wifi, tea and coffee making facilities, nice hostess, good location.
Dirty with cob webs on the ceiling which has not been cleaned for some time, TV signal very poor.
Friendly welcome and comfortable quiet room. Nice breakfast and helpful staff.
Great position, the lady of the hotel is very kind and try always to help you. Good breakfast, very nice room, clean and comfortable.
The owner Melba was very welcoming as was her little cat Molly.
I liked this type of historic property. I could park my car for free Easily walk to London Rd for a good curry!
The twin room we were given number 16 was right at the top of the house small attic type room with a low roof line which was not good for my elderly mother to climb up the stairs to the room or for her to move around in the room, shower was small with a curtain.Be careful on booking the right room perhaps mention this on booking. The whole place could do with being modernized. Note: Be very carefully in parking as there is a lamp post directly in front of the driveway. Breakfast timings were too early we did not book breakfast, I was chased about our time of arrival very tricky if you really don't know.
Friendly staff, the breakfast was good
Very hard bed. Had trouble sleeping on it.
Allocated parking space for duration of my stay Melba was lovely, cooked me a fantastic breakfast
Room a bit small
Lovely welcome from Melba and the cat! Fabulous central location just off New Walk with easy access to the centre of town and the university. The accommodation is warm and comfortable in a charming and substantial Victorian townhouse. Public spaces are beautifully and sympathetically decorated. The parking was a bonus too.
Slightly stronger coffee at breakfast might not have gone amiss but otherwise the breakfast was fine.
The lady in charge, Melba, is very welcoming and hospitable. She remembered us from week to week (my daughter and I stayed several Mondays in a row). It is a great location for De Montfort and downtown, plus easy walking distance to a variety of local restaurants for the evening meal. We had the same room nearly every time, which was lovely. Most other guests were also repeat customers, which says a lot! Free parking right outside. Free wifi.
I was charged GBP 5 more than agreed I was charged 55 instead of 50
helpful owner, near to the university that we were visiting.
Comfortable, quiet and well located bed and breakfast.
Could not get good reception for wi-fi
Very attentive and friendly staff: thank you, Melba!
Very close to many crucial places: railway station, university, restaurants, stores, parks, and relaxing streets. Quiet nights, no noise. Melba is friendly and supportive, and have a lovely cat.
Only 1 hour for breakfast and one is kindly asked to avoid last minutes. Only 1 channel at the TV, I forgot to ask for solutions. The foreign maid seemed speaking English less than me and wasn't told that on Day 1 I didn't need my room to get cleaned up - as I was busy indoor, but I "felt" forced to go out quickly, then I left a written message to Melba in advance for the following days.
Melba is a very accomodating and friendly host. The room was comfortable, and suitable for the purpose of the visit. The breakfast was superb. I would recommend Spindle Lodge as excellent value for money.
If i were to be picky it would have to be the vacinity of the tea/coffee making facility to the TV, and the tight space in which to make a cup of tea/coffee.
Very good hotal Wonderful Staff
No wifi Stair to second floor is very narrow
Very fast internet. Nice breakfast.
gloomy room with poor lighting, not very welcoming, water warm, not hot. bed hard, decor tired, curtains coming away from hooks.
It was half way from the train station to the university, where I had to go to do some work for a couple of days, so excellent location.
The room was old and dirty. There was a cat around the hotel, which I don't mind, but it's something that pressumably may bother customers. What if I was allergic?
