Nothing had changed Staff were great (Jonah & Faith in particular) Food Ambience Spa

Some bits of the hotel are getting a bit "shabby chic" not a problem as yet but may need some investment in rooms (eg aircon) Pricing is at top end but remains value for money

Atmosphere Comfortable rooms Excellent bathroom \ shower Dog friendly Relaxing lounge bar (Seafarer real ale is a must try) Plenty of on site parking In center of village Good breakfast selection

Some carpets in the public areas are beginning to wear, go threadbare, not a good image and possible H&S issue.

The spa was excellent - amazing staff, great treatment, really relaxing

It was a little 'stiff' and a bit overpriced.

The hotel is in a good position but could be so much better with some effort, the staff dont really know what they are doing, they are polite and friendly but their service is poor there seems to be no managment guideance. The foid in the resturant is poor, out dated and over priced for what you get. The toom was ok, the spa is ok. The public areas need a spruce up new carpets and kept cleaner. As I say our stay was OK but no more.

    The food was good

The food was overpriced as was the room. For £109 i was put in the smallest double I have ever seen. It was hot and claustrophobic. It had a TV smaller than my Laptop. I complained and to be fair I was moved to a larger room. No shower, had to leave the windows open as no aircon or fan therfore very noisy as main road just outside. No mobile signal and poor wifi signal and room phones did not work properly for outside line so I was cut off from business and family. Over all a disaster and an expensive one. Its on the never again list.

The seating area at the entrance was light and comfortable and we liked the old bar area which had character. Our dinner was good with the dishes being well cooked and presented

Our room was disappointing and the bed was small by modern hotel standards. The breakfast was very disappointing.

The Hotel and accomodation as a whole

The Restaurant is very expensive although the food is excellent. As a whole the hotel, if you dine in, breaks even in the 'value' stakes.

    Nice property

Over priced, poor quality food - poached eggs tasteless, suckling pig all fat and no meat.

Several very helpful staff who seemed to be battling against the odds during lunchtime and dinner in particular due to a lack of staff

Strawberries, apples and grapes at breakfast all unripe and sour. The coffee very weak. The initial standard room offered was small, dark and next to the street with builders working opposite. Not at all appropriate for this class of hotel or price.

Provide tea and coffee but no milk, found a note next to the phone saying if you need milk dial 0. This is not a run of the mill cheap hotel and as such you would expect to be able to make a drink without having to wait for the milk to be delivered.

Staff, lovely old building, the spa. All great. Actually the staff were very good indeed. Room was very nicely decorated.

Boy were the bar sandwiches, evening meal and drink expensive! It was very nice... but not *that* nice. Breakfast was poor: very nicely poached eggs, nice selection at the buffet. But the bacon was mediocre and under cooked, ditto the black pudding. The tomatoes were barely grilled at all. A bit too much kitsch in the decor. It's a lovely, lovely building and has some nice furniture in it... but a pretend suit of armour and cheap and nasty pretend duelling pistols on the wall looked a bit silly.
