The Springvale is a Victorian hotel located in a quiet hamlet on the edge of a pretty sailing village. It offers spacious rooms and a relaxing atmosphere. All the bedrooms at the Springvale Hotel & Restaurant have private bathrooms. Many have a balcony and all feature tea and coffee. Guests can relax on the hotel’s pleasant grounds, the porch or the cozy bar, which has a log fire. Hotel Rooms: 13 We're sorry, but it is currently not possible to make reservations for this hotel.

The hotel was right on the waterfront within easy access of Ryde and a great starting off place for anywhere on the island really. The breakfast was lovely and well cooked, plenty of choice. The staff too were very helpfull. There was always something to see with the hotel overlooking the Solent, we could see all the shipping sailing jet-skiers and fishing boats too. The local yatch club was just down the road, and some good restaurants and pubs.Really enjoyed our stay there...The red squirrels visited the garden too... which was a bonus ...Great location. Great staff. Its a shame that the hotel may be turned into flats next year...

Only stayed for one night but my room was roomy, clean and comfortable. A first class breakfast saw me on my way. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed but I was directed to a very good pub serving excellent meals. It was a 10-15 minute walk or a short drive away.

Friendly and welcoming staff, especially restaurant waitress. In desperate need of refurbishing and redecoration. No lunch or dinner service available due to ill health of main cook, which disappointed us especially on arrival after a very long journey when we then needed to drive into town to find food.

The location is stunning, the staff helpful and friendly. The only disappointment is that we won`t be able to come back here, as I understand that the Hotel is to close. A massive shame! Nothing to dislike.

Excellent location overlooking the Solent. Immediate access to quite beach. Good for walking along the coast. Car required for access to the remainder of the Island. However, we were advised that the hotel has been sold for redevelopment, closing in December.

Friendly welcome, great location, the room was a good size. Furnishings quite dated but that added to the charm of the place. However, the bed wasn't very comfortable and the tea/coffe provided in the room looked like it had been there for years and the tomato sauce bottle at the breakfast table looked like it needed a good clean. These little things can make a big difference.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The sea views were excellent from both our rooms. This made it for us. Nearby pubs were great for food in the evening. Sadly wew learnt the hotel is closing later this year.

My little turret room (13) was delightful. It had its own balcony from which I could watch the sailing and all activity on the busy East Solent. The atmosphere in the Springvale was so friendly and staff so helpful.Breakfasts excellent and well presented - to the detriment of one's waistline! A small room but there was so much space for storage of one's belongings, it did not feel small. As a very minor point,I would have liked a means of fastening the french doors back so that they did not swing in the wind. The bed really does need a new mattress - I could only sleep when I doubled the duvet and slept on that. Fortunately I had a car rug to put over me! Admitttedly I am a poor sleepr at the best of times, with arthritic hips.

Breakfast was reasonable If you weren't in a sea facing room, there was no comfy lounge in which to sit to watch the shipping coming by, only a small bar area tucked behind a wall, the restaurant wasn't available for food as the owner didn't have a cook and the owner wasn't cooking, one evening the restaurant door was locked so we couldn't get in the bar area for a drink, this was at 9pm. No chairs in the room only one dressing table stool and a fold up bed which was only about 1 foot high, wardrobes were difficult to open as they were obstructed by the bedside cabinet, we had to move the cabinets and the bed to make room for the doors to open. The hotel had no lift which made our second floor room a chore to go up and down to. The hotel itself is in dire need of an update.

Excellent location right by the seafront. Bed large and very comfortable and plenty of storage space within the room. Hotel is in the "land that time forgot" i.e. very dated. Bedroom in need of a major overhaul e.g. new carpets, curtains and a lick of paint. Cleanliness standards of bathroom were not great - carpet in the bathroom is dirty and generally a lot of grime in the bathroom which really could do with renewal.

Joyce and the team were delightful - nothing was too much trouble. The decor overall needs a refresh, but the sheer hospitality and warmth of the welcome more than compensated for this. Super location very close to the ferry and a good base from which to explore. Black pudding for breakfast was a real surprise and a tasty treat! Noel (London)
