Score from 980 reviews Good
The room smelled. The milk provided was in thimble sized pots not even enough for one cup of tea. Asked and was given more still not enough.
Good location and price
Poor shower, exceptionally small shower room, only 1 out of three of the lamps in the room worked. Basic 2 star not 3
It was only a 15 minute walk to where my course was being held
The room was down in the basement and was very small we had to try and move out the way of each other to make hot drinks. There was poor lighten and only 1 mirror in bathroom which was poor so couldn't do hair or make up properly because of the lights. I actually had to go buy a mirror. The stair carpet is very dirty and I feel the whole place could do with a coat of paint and revamp
the location is good but don't be tempted by it!
the room was very dirty, smelly, had bugs and moths. the staff was never there.
The location was perfect for our needs and bed was spotlessly clean and comfortable
It was over priced, should include a hot breakfast! In desperate need of modernisation, curtains in the room were non existent, bathroom wasn't clean and the water was switched off at 10.30!
Nice staff, helpfull with local info
Paid for Internet and didn't have connection in the room. Shower cabin had hair in it
Quiet Area and value for its money
Breakfast should be earlier at least 7am otherwise fine.
staff was doing his best to make up for the things that went wrong and was very helpful
- price was way too high for what was offered - carpet on stairs was dirty breakfastroom was not welcoming (old furniture and no curtains) - curtains in the rooms were partly hanging down - second bed and some furniture looked very worn, old and shabby - paint on doors and windowframes came off in places - street noise rather loud because of low quality windows - bathroom very small without window - tap in the shower didnt work (struggling to get water and if to get the right temperature - hairdryer was broken (but was replaced immediatly by staff) - place felt worn and dirty and reminded more of a youth hostel than a B&B - tried to get the booking canceled on arrival, but unfortunately that was not possible
Tiny room, noisy street, courtains falling down, cold shower, no change of towels, no beds made, service dressed in shorts .... Just a disaster for that price..
Only one member of staff on duty
No hot water. Very poor soundproofing.
Good location, lovely village feel in Stockbridge.
Room 9 was in need of a good dust, but was clean generally. One member of party has allergies, not good in a dusty atmosphere. It was very noisy in the morning if you were in late the night before and having a lie in, no chance. You can hear everyones water running, fan running you name it. No mirror other than in the bathroom.
Woman at the desk was not able to tell us where we could park or what direction to walk to the town center. Our room did not look like it had been cleaned or vacuumed in quite some time, the shower did not work, we had prepaid and they still charged our card. We were also told that we would have wifi and it was not available even though we paid for it. The carpet on the stairs was also coming off and could be a problem for some folks. I would not recommend St. Bernard's House to any one.
Bedroom was clean, plenty of towels, great shower, continental breakfast was good. We were allowed to check in early. Bed linen very clean and a very comfortable bed.
The room window seemed to be jammed open this was OK in the summer but would be cold in winter. Price was expensive but it was during the festival.
If you read all of the reviews here, you wouldn't turn up, but the truth is ... it is cheap, comfortable, clean, basic and rooms are private and quiet. No problems with that. If you want all the extras, they will cost you another 100 GBP per night.
Breakfast was continental and sparse and not really worth the 5 GBP per day. It wouldn't be too much trouble to put on a couple of sausages and some bacon/eggs Might be a bit of trouble for the one staff member though.
Staff pleasant and helpful. Bed very clean and comfortable. Nice self service breakfast.
Longish ,partly uphill walk into city centre.OK for us but could become expensive if using taxis every time. Main issue was lack of parking nearby which was not made clear when booking.
Bed was comfortable
Very expensive for a basic B and B Breakfast was extra cost!!! Also wifi at extra cost room and shower room very basic
Parking. Basement room, although clean was very dingy with curtains that didn't close. Meats n cheeses not covered or chilled at breakfast. Staff very polite and helpful so no problems at all with this aspect. Expensive for what it was.
lovely area spacious room clean & tidy
luckily my wife and I can manage steep stair cases because we where right at the top of the house a lot of traffic noise could do with a bit of updating looks a bit tired .
location easy for visit
breakfast, too poor room side road, noisy
Very nice and helpful staff. St Bernard's House is recommended to all.
Very good value for money, given a key so can return and leave at any time. Check out was at 11am which was also good!
Nice neighbourhood and staff. The room was very clean.
Paid internet with poor signal, an old building and structure, a renovation would be very appropriate.
Problems with parking.
Location was excellent in terms of local eateries and ambience. Parking was poor but understandable in a city centre. The reduced rate we got probably more accurately reflected the actual facilities inside the guest house. It was quite hard work lugging luggage to our room on the top floor. But the room was clean and quite homely. Breakfast was simple, straightforward and perfectly adequate. The young staff were helpful and friendly.
Bathroom cleanliness, space to move and missing plugs (!) felt a bit like from an earlier decade, but all the essentials were there.
Toilet is clean
No parking area allow for guest
