It was a quaint hotel in an older townhouse. It is situated in a nice quiet neighborhood. The room was clean and comfortable. Shower was excellent.
I spent most of my time in Old Town, so I found the hotel to be a bit too far, but if you want to go shopping on Princes St or spend time in New Town than the location is perfect. The continental breakfast was not worth a fiver. Go to Costa instead.
STAFF VERY FRIENDLY AND ACCOMMODATING. ROOM CLEAN AND TIDY. FANTASTIC LOCATION DOWN A VERY NICE EXPENSIVE ROAD.
NOTHING ALL GOOD.
Small hotel (guest house) with Good service staff.
Quite far from bis shelter.
good location, nice bars, cafes and restaurants nearby and walking distance into city centre
cleanliness and décor of room was poor, mismatched bedding and only one towel provided for 2 and no soundproofing !
Close to amenities
The staff didn't make the bed and the noise from the water supply to the hand bassin in all the rooms was atrocious.
Comfortable beds and good location for Shopping on Princes street
No cooked hot breakfast just cold buffet. For the price a cooked breakfast is a must.
St Bernard's was ideal for what we needed, we visited Edinburgh for a night out. The room had all the facilities you needed, and was ideal for what we paid / needed. If we was in the area again, and needed a bed for the night, we would check the availability of accommodation here.
The room was very small with no place to sit (however for £31 in Edinburgh on 26th December it was good value). It lacked some basics like no tea spoons to stir your coffee in the room, the kettle needs to be filled using a mug as the sink is too small a cobweb in the corners of the walls. Despite the above comments If we was in the area again, and needed a bed for the night, we would check the availability of accommodation here.
No noise at ground floor, bed was quite comfortable.
a bit far from city center
hotel was very clean and comfortable. Location wasn't too bad. Slightly far from attractions but walkable.
Wifi was not free. Location was slightly far from attractions.
Nothing in particular
Check in was not done well The visa machine did not work and had to pay cash instead. One night the central heating broke and we were not informed. We were freezing until next day. We hope the guest house mgt be considerate to provide other heating alternative.
The sink was filthy, the staff hardly spoke english albeit we only saw a member of staff once on our arrival and the room next door allowed us to enjoy their morning preparations at 6am, I suspected it was actually polish staff. Will never be back unfortunately
The staff where friendly and rooms where clean.
When me and my partner enjoyed our first night we decided to stay another night. I went down to reception to confirm this in the morning and they said yes come back at 3pm to pay. Once I got back to the room I checked booking.com which was showing at a price of £30 yet when I went to pay I had to pay £40. I couldn't understand this. I said well I'll just book online and show you the confirmation. He wouldn't allowe me to do that which I thought was unfair we were extending our stay and given it was a Monday night you would presume it would be cheeper than a weekend. That's my only complaint :)
Great location, free parkiing outside on the street and the staff were friendly.
The hotel was dirty. I was in room 1 and there was slime on the tiles and showere handle as it came off onto my hand when I touched it, the shower head was caked in grey sludge and dirt. There was hair on the floor and the cups still had tea/coffee rings on the inside of them. The only mirrow in our room was in the bathroom. Also the rooms in not doubles glazed and as it was winter when we visited the heating didnt come on until after 7pm and staff would not put it on. We were FREEZING until it came on.
Its proximity to Stockbridge
That the room looked a bit grubby. That the blind was tangled up That you couldn't draw the one curtain properly it was sticking. That beds were not made on the saterday, nor were we given clean cups/glasses but dirty ones just left. That there were cobwebs on bedroom and bathroom ceiling
Location - near to main areas but not on front expensive streets. Local shopping parade 5 minutes away and restaurants very good
Car parking is difficult but not impossible.
Breakfast for £5.00 extra was just adequate. Staff were friendly . Linen and towels were clean. Plenty hot water. Quiet.
No working curtains although I did ask for it to be fixed. They nither open nor close. No working light above the mirror in bathroom although asked for it to be fixed and no other mirror available in the room (Room 8). Hadn't been given a proper deep clean for some time.
This was a B and B with old beds with stained mattresses dirty lounge and unhelpful staff did not stay there even though we had payed for two rooms could not speak to owner left number owner did not call back
Location is excellent Staff - "D" was friendly and efficient
A bit dusty but didn't bother me
Cleanliness was poor, bed was very uncomfortable, walls are very thin, shower in need of a good clean, window had visible crack in it & no milk provided.
The only thing I liked was that a got an ok sleep as the bed was comfy my partner on the other hand never he felt the bed was to small and to close to the bathroom wall. The location was ok if you don't mind walking for 25-30mins.
There was no privacy as only one curtain and didn't close properly we were on the main road. The staff weren't helpful in fact down right rude. The floor boards creaked, the wallpaper was coming off, there was dust everywhere and pubic hairs in the shower. The carpet on the stairs up to your room was hanging off hazard right there. When we were arrived we were told she had already taken money off my card the day before and we were in room 6 on the ground floor, couldn't find it on ground floor was actually on first floor (who doesn't know where each room is). We asked reception what bus took us to princes street, the lady told us where to get bus and what number it was, turned out she had the right bus stop just there was no 39 as she had said so had to ask in at sainsburys. The hair dryer blew a fuse and she refused to give us another one. We used our towels on the friday afternoon once we had arrived and were told we wouldn't get any more until the housekeeper arrived at 11am the next day (that was our check out time). There was no staff in the b&b from the hours of 10pm and 9am. The b&b reception is located in the breakfast room. The whole b&b is out dated and needs a serious make over. Overall I defiantly wouldn't go back and would not reccommend.
Great location, very helpful staff
The wall socket for the kettle didn't work, so I had to unplug the tv everytime I needed a drink. The worst of all was the sleep or shall I say the lack of it. The walls are thinner than paper, the guests' activities were more than audible despite the best effort to ignore it. And everytime the upstairs use the taps it sounded like a power drill doing its work on the floor or walls.
We liked the atmosphere , the size of the rooms, the friendly staff and the breakfasts that were served.
the loose carpet on the stairs.
The look of the decore was classy. It had a nice retro feel
Location was excellent.
Trying to park nearby.
nice and clean hotel, located close to the city centre
