Breakfast, room, location, staff and price. A traditional English B&B.
Nice alternative to a big hotel in a quiet location, good breakfast & walking distance for evening meal & entertainment.
Silent room, comfortable bed, clean.
To early breakfasts.
NEAR TO BUSES
STAIRS UP TO TOP,ROOM
Breakfast and the lovely lady serving.Nice breakfast room with view out to the pretty garden.
Hotel and surrounding areas need a bit of investment to bring them both into the 21st century. All seemed a bit dowdy and dated.
Good location, on bus route. Lady serving breakfast was very friendly.
Breakfast was mean. Very small room. Portsmouth maps, bus timetables, recommended restaurants would have been useful.
very comfortable, spacious room, nice breakfast with a nice lady serving.
very well situated, friendly and value for money
a good atmosphere breakfast very good you had just what you wanted the staff first rate
excellent breakfast! got gluten free sausages and bread for us. Great service. Friendly helpful staff Comfortable room
bathroom (shower) a little small but ok for weekend break.
Excellent location, near the Southsea seafront; and also near a very useful bus stop, so we could go to the historic dockyard in just under 10 minutes!
Comfortable, clean room, pleasant location in quiet street very close to Southsea seafront and promenade, good breakfast, recommended.
Very quiet location just what we needed. Breakfast excellent with plenty of choices
Made to wait in reception whilst host chatted to another guest without apologies or acknowledgement.
Cleanliness and comfort. Easy access to centre of Portsmouth and other areas.
Breakfast - one of the best we had Spacious room Good advice
Danny appears to be a serious man, so shake hands, tell him your name and you'll be welcomed. He and all the staff including meal waitresses were very helpful, polite and efficient. The full breakfasts varied a little and were well cooked and presented. (Danny is a chef.) We had a long weekend, Friday to Monday, enhanced by our stay at St Margaret's Lodge.
We had a twin room and I felt that my single bed mattress was a little tired but just about serviceable. My wife's was fine and she slept like a row of logs!
Not seeing the owners at all untill you are leaving and have to pay them
Comfortable Excellent breakfasts Staff very helpful
The rooms where ver spacios, cosy decorated and funished. The breakfast was very good, very big choice. The staff was very friendly and helpfull.
friendly atmosphere, good breakfast , helpful owner
parking can be a little away from hotel
The room was excellent standard and very cosy
Too early check out at 10:00am
spacious room (room No.1). Good tea, TV, cupboards in room. Good breakfast.
I didn't dislike anything.
When we arrived the owner was making jam 'if it sets it'll be available at breakfast, gooseberry can be tricky tho' He was a font of knowledge about local restaurants, bus routes, places to visit, nothing was too much trouble. The fruit platter at breakfast was lovely. The situation was great close to a delightful park, beach, and regular bus service into Portsmouth to visit the historic dockyard with no parking worries.
Nothing bad to say
