Located in Cardiff city centre, Cathedral 73 is a Victorian townhouse with a funky, fresh and fashionable design.
Score from 2 reviews Exceptional
A short walk from Cardiff city center, these modern apartments are close to the Mermaid Quay Restaurant Quarter and offer free use of the on-site gym, pool and conference suite.
Score from 231 reviews Very good
Well-located in central Cardiff right across from the Motorpoint Arena (formerly the Cardiff International Arena), this Park Inn is adjacent to the St.
Score from 1098 reviews Good
Dating back to 1180, this hotel was originally a Cistercian monastery. It has a fantastic à la carte restaurant, and is situated in secluded grounds in the historic town of Caerleon, on the River Usk....
Score from 257 reviews Very good
Pool, breakfast, staff and room size.
Looking a bit dated outside.
The swimming pool,Jacuzzi and sauna was excellent . Staff were polite. Grounds on which main hotel were in were beautiful.
It was a chalet room away from main building which wasn't a problem but The room had seen better days. Our clothes felt damp in the morning!! The phone didn't work in the chalet, had to be changed. There was damp patches on wall and mould on window sills. Hairdryer cut out every thirty seconds. Breakfast was in a makeshift room because of renovations to main building, so items were laid out on the bar, these ran out continuously and I had to ask twice for top ups....in the end we gave up. First time ever I've had a bad stay.glad we were only there one night. Wouldn't recommend this hotel.
Location and grounds were lovely. Leisure facilities were ideal for the children.
Hotel main building was very dated and needs total refurbishment. Ceiling collapsed in one of the main rooms during our stay. We were staying in a chalet type outside the main building the outside of which looks very grotty and needs painting, bathroom vent was broken, once inside the room was clean but very dated and needs modernising.
The building & gardens
The cleanliness & shabbiness
the setting was fab we had a nice time staff very helpful we will be returning
Location as it is close to where I had to be. Staff were helpful at reception, I didn't use any facilities. The grounds are lovely.
I have only stayed in a garden room prior to this visit and I was pleased that I was in the main building as repairs were being carried out BUT why does the place look so tired. I couldn't have a bath as the taps didn't work, grouting was disgusting!!!
Rooms, grounds and breakfast
Location. Am told the food is good but didnt eat in during my stay.
Dated, tired decor and furniture in the rooms. Bed not good quality, uncomfortable. cracked paint in bathrooms No WIFI in the rooms. Gym equipment very old and not working properly.
going home !
no Wifi, bad light for reading, smell of carpets and beds,
Small room Tired looks
Room service was fast . Freindly staff. Facilities were good.
Room service cleaning was very poor. I had to buy my own toiletries as were not replaced. The carpets were not hoovered daily. Table lamps did not work. Beds were not done fully. Jaccuzzi was out of order.
Pool was excellent; breakfast was adequate for price (kids were free).
Beds were uncomfortable; changing facilities at pool needed cleaning / towels & toilet paper on the ground etc. Could be an excellent hotel but needs £ spent.
The gym, swimming pool, bars and food were all very good and we thoroughly enjoyed the facilities. On the upside, once we reported problems with the garden room the hotel moved us straight to the hotel and were most helpful and responsive.
We were in one of the garden rooms with lots of spiders! my daughter has a fear of them and so we asked to move to the hotel.
Staff very helpful. Breakfast really tasty. Location nice and close to Park and Ride, easy to get into Cardiff. Pool and spa very relaxing.
Great value for money for a triple room. Easy access with parking. Very comfortable beds.
Tried to charge us more for breakfast than advertised on booking.com - but staff rectified it quickly when we produced documentation.
Location Swimming pool
Very dated chalets Noisy as deliveries and staff next to our room No air con Pond very dirty with little water (koi carp clinging to life)
Staff rolled out a red carpet for a wedding and it wasn't laid down properly. My guests who had travelled 7 hours fell and broke his leg A&E for hours, starving hungry wouldn't even make them a sandwich never mind an apology. Incredulous behaviour still in shock at the lack of concern for their guests.
The location and friendly staff.
Breakfast selection was very limited and the area appeared to be understaffed.
comfortable beds, very peaceful and quiet, served our purpose nicely, but rooms are a little tired, and in need of referb,
The location was lov er ly
We had travelled from the North East for an international athletics meet. Prior to travel arrangements were made for an early checkin however on arrival the front of house were not helpful and somewhat rude. My husband asked if it was possible to book a taxi for transfer to the stadium and again front of house were not particularly friendly making it feel like a chore. On return home I raised a query over the bill and again staff were curt in manner.
The spa and pool
The poor state of the decor, rotten window frames and leaks in the roof, We also had a kingsize bed but double mattress poor
The location was excellent, and the staff were very helpful along with service.
Thought the hotel itself could do with a good bit of decorating doing to it, and the shower door didn't fit properly hence when we had a shower the bathroom floor got very wet.
Staff were helpful throughout. Gym is good. Pool is good (but needs better ventilation - paint peeling, etc) Food was excellent. We ate in sports bar as wedding party was occupying main building. Beer was good. Grand main house and grounds pleasant environment. Golf course looked in good condition. Explained issues with manager in morning of departure. He said hotel had recently been taken over by Bespoke (from Best Western). He didn't appear to know any refurbishment plans.
Choose hotel as it had "real" 4-bed rooms (double and 2 singles) rather than a rubbish pull-out sofa. On arrival we thought the place looked great. So much so that we extended our nights stay for an additional night. We got our key to a Garden Room - sounds lovely doesn't it? Unfortunately they didn't advertise that the "Garden Rooms" were in a state of disrepair. First thing you see as we came round the corner was a faded police notice to not leave valuables in your car. Internally they were just about OK. But externally you have flaking paint on the fascia boards, broken glass on ground, weeds, broken slabs, window in bathroom was broken, etc. Double bed mattress was basically shot. Felt as though an elephant had sat on the end of it. I was too scared to lift the sheets in case it looked like it was from the 1920's. TV power socket was switched from by the bed (hidden behind the bedside lamp). Spent 15 minutes trying to turn the TV on. It was only when I gave up and sat on the bed that I noticed the switch. Couldn't easily access the 'garden' from the garden rooms - my boys ended up climbing through the window to get there. Claimed to be wired internet in the rooms. All I could find was an ethernet socket under the window - 10ft from the desk and no cable provided. Gave up. Wifi available in sports bar. Strangely we decided against a second night there. Shame as with a little upkeep the hotel could be excellent.
Very nice place room was good but just thought it was a little overpriced.
Rooms could have been decorated better light bulbs were not working and a plug socket. Decor was very average
