I was very lucky to have been upgraded to a suite which was pure luxury. The evening staff were very friendly and and helpful. Very close to the city centre.
Unfortunately the restaurant was closed on the evening of my stay but there was a tapas bar next door that the receptionist recommended (I think it may also be part of the hotel) and it was good. Parking is limited but off the street and very secure.
Everything, especially the staff
Nothing at all
Discreetly located, very comfortable, quirky, small, and with very helpful and friendly staff ... the very antithesis of corporate blandness ...
Not much to complain about really !!! I might imagine that the lack of air-con could be a slight issue in the summer, BUT the sash windows in the rooms are HUGE !!!
St Olaves was really excellent for our needs as we came to Exeter by train, everything was walkable, staff at the hotel were really helpful and leant us an umbrella on a really wet Saturday evening.
TV not too clever because of weather conditions!
Location is pretty central. One lady on reception on our day of arrival was lovely and jolly.
Room was very dark. Cleanliness problems. Toilet seat broken. Breakfast was OK (not the best, not the worst). Staff (other than one) seemed to struggle to raise a smile or a 'good morning'. Most certainly not value for money.
Friendliness of staff. Excellent Breakfast Dining room and lounge. Location in the heart of the shopping district. Parking off road. Gardens.
As this is a listed building windows are somewhat old and drafty. They can rattle a little in the wind. There is also a club nearby which again due to lack of double glazing can be a little noisy. Room could be updated to meet specification used downstairs.
Very nice rooms
Friendliness of the staff, excellent food, free parking, large, spacious rooms, well- furnished and decorated, and the excellent location.
No hook on the bathroom door, the restaurant shutting early without notice the first night I was there.
Staff were friendly idea location would stay again
Staff were very flexible. We were there for a wedding, and asked to check in early so we could change before the ceremony (in the cathedral - less than 5 mins away). We arrived at 11:30 and they had the room ready. Breakfast was excellent as well.
Positioning of hotel was ideal. Room was very clean and spacious.
Friendly, welcoming staff. Beautiful building, great bed, amazing breakfast! In the middle of town, close to everything and parking available.
Low pressure showers but hot water is fine, clean, new bathrooms.
impressive city hotel. smart room with restaurant quality breakfast.
We travelled with our 5 month son. whilst they provided a good cot at no charge, the waitress at breakfast made us feel distinctly unwelcome commenting on how noisy our baby was. In fact, he hadn't cried at all, and simply was adjusting to the high chair (which we are grateful that they supplied). Her attitude, repeated on the second morning, really did sour our view of this otherwise nice hotel.
There was some noise after the clubs in Exeter kicked out, but you kind of expect that so brushed it off.
Friendly staff and decent breakfast. Also has parking and a very central location.
Awful shower with barely any pressure.
Only stayed one night to have a quick break away and explore Exeter which we have never visited before. From the street it looked as if we might have made a mistake but once through the arch we found an oasis of calm. The room and bed were very comfortable and we slept very well which we don't always do in a strange bed. The shortbread biscuits were very welcome and the was a great selection at breakfast. The hotel is ideally place for exploring the city and Quay.
For some reason the restaurant wasn't open for dinner which was strange as the hotel was full and we weren't given an explanation. However we did find an excellent restaurant around the corner which was superb - The Conservatory. The early bird offer is very good value and one of the best meals with have had.
Great location Friendly staff Clean and well looked after building - Lovely room.
Free wifi Breakfasts
Very noisy - close to nightclubs with loud music late into the night. On Saturday there was a party in the hotel with guests talking in the garden until 12.45 at night. No lift. No telephone in room. Very hot and no air conditioning.
Central location with car parking. Helpful staff.
The position was excellent and the food was good
Noise from a party at night
The staff were superb. Friendly, informative and just plain nice.
Quiet location On site parking
Excellent customer service, and extraordinary attention to detail. The room was lovely, the shower and bath were fantastic, and the whole place was quiet and restful yet in the heart of the city itself! The garden was great too.
Location,friendly helpful staff.Lovely breakfast.Comfortable,spacious room...quiet.
