Staff were friendly idea location would stay again
Staff were very flexible. We were there for a wedding, and asked to check in early so we could change before the ceremony (in the cathedral - less than 5 mins away). We arrived at 11:30 and they had the room ready. Breakfast was excellent as well.
Positioning of hotel was ideal. Room was very clean and spacious.
Friendly, welcoming staff. Beautiful building, great bed, amazing breakfast! In the middle of town, close to everything and parking available.
Low pressure showers but hot water is fine, clean, new bathrooms.
impressive city hotel. smart room with restaurant quality breakfast.
We travelled with our 5 month son. whilst they provided a good cot at no charge, the waitress at breakfast made us feel distinctly unwelcome commenting on how noisy our baby was. In fact, he hadn't cried at all, and simply was adjusting to the high chair (which we are grateful that they supplied). Her attitude, repeated on the second morning, really did sour our view of this otherwise nice hotel.
There was some noise after the clubs in Exeter kicked out, but you kind of expect that so brushed it off.
Friendly staff and decent breakfast. Also has parking and a very central location.
Awful shower with barely any pressure.
Only stayed one night to have a quick break away and explore Exeter which we have never visited before. From the street it looked as if we might have made a mistake but once through the arch we found an oasis of calm. The room and bed were very comfortable and we slept very well which we don't always do in a strange bed. The shortbread biscuits were very welcome and the was a great selection at breakfast. The hotel is ideally place for exploring the city and Quay.
For some reason the restaurant wasn't open for dinner which was strange as the hotel was full and we weren't given an explanation. However we did find an excellent restaurant around the corner which was superb - The Conservatory. The early bird offer is very good value and one of the best meals with have had.
Great location Friendly staff Clean and well looked after building - Lovely room.
Free wifi Breakfasts
Very noisy - close to nightclubs with loud music late into the night. On Saturday there was a party in the hotel with guests talking in the garden until 12.45 at night. No lift. No telephone in room. Very hot and no air conditioning.
Central location with car parking. Helpful staff.
The position was excellent and the food was good
Noise from a party at night
The staff were superb. Friendly, informative and just plain nice.
Quiet location On site parking
Excellent customer service, and extraordinary attention to detail. The room was lovely, the shower and bath were fantastic, and the whole place was quiet and restful yet in the heart of the city itself! The garden was great too.
Location,friendly helpful staff.Lovely breakfast.Comfortable,spacious room...quiet.
Proximity to town centre Good breakfast
This is a small very comfortable hotel with excellent staff and food. I would recommend it to anyone
there was nothing I didnt like
I've stayed here many times because I love the location, so pretty and secluded yet only seconds from the high street and minutes from the cathedral. The bed was very comfortable this time, though it hasn't always been in the past. Room spotlessly clean.
I was disappointed that the restaurant wasn't open for dinner, because one reason I come here is for the excellent food in pleasant quiet surroundings, but there was an explanation, and it couldn't be helped. The lady at reception was very good and booked at another restaurant for me.
Location, location, location!
Disappointed there was no draft real ale in bar, only foreign lager.
general ambience and parking and silence
Loved the style of the room, spacious bathroom with modern facilities. Thought the menu order breakfast was delicious. Nice touch of homemade biscuits in room.
This lovely quaint hotel was a surprising little gem. The building is beautiful, lovely winding staircase leading up to the equally lovely room - ours was no. 4 overlooking the front of the hotel. It is tucked away so much so that when we googled street view we couldn't find it! It is within a 2 minute walk of the city centre so extremely good for shopping and eating out. The staff were very helpful and friendly, breakfast was very good, bed very comfortable, the room was light and airy and spacious. Would happily return next time we visit Exeter.
There was a wedding party on the Saturday night - not that I have a problem with that, but the guests returning from the Mulberry Suite to their rooms were very noisy. Also there is a night club just up the road and unfortunately having quite acute hearing meant that I could hear the thud thud thud and people leaving the club in the early hours being very loud. My husband on the other hand who is not so blessed in the hearing department snored through the whole thing!!
Historical building. 10th century building where King Charles minted money for his soldiers. Elegant rooms. Night duty person is great. A typical English Butler character and very kind thoughtful person.
Wifi was not working and the receptionist (waitress) was arguing that it was working. This place is run on a shoe string and staff poor place. The room bathroom toilet was problematic, there are nail holes on the wall in the bathroom. Looks tacky.
Nice charming hotel. Good food in the restaurant. Nicely decorated room.
room was on the main road with night clubs so crowds were very noisy from 1am to 4am... Not the greatest of nights!
