The setting, the ambience & the grandure! Food was excellent!
Not being able to stay any longer so we have booked for a minim break!
Afternoon tea Location Beautiful house
Room very cold had to ask for heater Lamp was broken had to get replacement Showerhead loose and shower door falling off Room was four poster very disappointing as the room was tiny and not large enough for the bed even though it was a very small four poster!
Squeaky 4 poster bed, each time you move it squeaks loudly
Fantastic place, very impressive interior.
Lovely restaurant with excellent food at reasonable price. Excellent surroundings peaceful and pretty Four poster rooms are all very individual
no lift small restaurant imagine it would be extremely difficult to get a table in high season bathroom very small
fantastic lovely four poster bed
not received our reservation at hotel from booking.com but it was sorted very quickly
Location. Great food. Excellent staff.
Bed was uncomfortable and small. Bathroom cramped.
The quietness and the character
Cab fair to airport. They need a shuttle service
Lack of elevator.
hotel and grounds very attractive. Food and drink good value.
Problem when we went to book in. We had booked through Booking.com but when we got there they claimed to know nothing of our reservation! We had booked and had confirmation on a four poster bedroom but they could only offer a superior room. This is very worrying as if they had been full that would have left us high and dry!
No disabled parking No record of having a reservation from Booking.Com Noisy in the morning from cleaners Door banging Uncomfortable single beds No towels Room not prepared.
Impressive building and gardens. Very comfortable.
Off the beaten track, individual even idiosyncratic style; splendid grounds, surprisingly quiet given airport proximity, free (but unsecure) Wifi, well-appointed rooms, excellent shower, attentive staff, superb patio and orangery with lovely views, excellent breakfast, good value for money. Has something of a 'Wow' factor - imagine it would be great for a wedding
Room rather dark, and skimpy 'eco'-lighting made little real difference. Parking very difficult - many more cars than guests? (Airport overflow perhaps?) Errors made with food order due to linguistic difficulties. Variable mobile signal. No AC in room, but not necessarily expected at this price and in such an old building. Generally not ideal for business.
Large room, quiet, lovely grounds
Expensive for what provide
The welcome from the Staff was warm, friendly and professional. The view from the room was delightful overlooking the gardens which were immaculate. The restaurant's food was first class with excellent service at all times. Great location for Gatwick and a must stay venue.
Set in beautiful grounds the room was quiet and peaceful. This hotel is much better than other hotels I have stayed in, which have higher star ratings.
Excellent Location Beautiful Grounds Will certainly use this facility again
Excellent location when travelling from Gatwick airport with the added bonus of being able to leave the car at the hotel for the duration of your holiday. Staff always welcoming and friendly. Good sized, well appointed comfortable rooms and beautiful gardens to boot! Minimal aircraft noise despite the close location of the airport.
The grounds and views are amazing. Food was good. And the prices are very reasonable.
Our room (no.8) was nice - a 4 poster room... But the bed itself looked and sounded like it was going to fall apart. Also on a lot of occasions whilst waiting at the bar or reception.. It took a while for a member of staff to notice us standing there. But when they did eventually see us.. They were polite, accommodating and helpful.
We liked the location being close to Gatwick, but without the noise of aircraft. The rates were an affordable price. The property inside and out is suberb. We wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy such attractive surroundings. The meals and service were a real treat.
This is only minor, but we thought the bar was lacking in the great ambience that was present in the rest of the hotel. The decor, to us, in a way seemed too modern for that hotel.
Position and peace and quiet.
Food poor. Appeared reheated.
A naughty fox got into our room on the evening we stayed. It decided to attack one of our mattresses.
Very lovely setting and very clean room and comfortable bed. Noise level was very low even with en suite. We were able to have late checkout. Got wifi connection sorted, once reported. Ideal location for a quiet stay
Was not met at breakfast and we sat in the wrong table. Perhaps leaving a room number on the table would have been more useful.
Friendly staff and excellent service.
