Food was very good
attentive staff, good food, comfortable and relaxed
we thought the location was splendid the food was fine and our accommodation in the end was very satisfactory in all a peaceful and quaint hotel
on our arrival there seemed to be a little confusion as to which room we would be staying in once sorted we were shown to our 4 poster bedroom but unfortunately there was no bath which we had asked for so we asked to be relocated but there seemed to be an intial lack of rooms we were shown an inferior room which had interior issues and a sanitation problem so we asked to be moved again eventually to a room that we were more than happy with it would of been nicer to have been shown this room in the first place would defiantly stay again
I loved the ambiance of this hotel with its tall wooden ceiling, flowers on display and historical paintings on the walls. If your fed up with synthetic glass, modern streamlined hotels with faceless staff, parking fees & free WiFi which , sorry you have to pay for - then this is the hotel for you.
The beautiful grounds and building, the architecture, the furnishings the decor. Customer service was excellent. Food very good quality ands well presented.
The mattress (Rm 22) = it needed a foam topper or replacement as it was way past its best.
This hotel is full of character and the staff are polite, helpful and efficient. I have stayed a couple of times and have been pleased with the room, service and food. Would happily book again.
Poor mattress in room 36 felt every spring
Didn't enjoy the walk through the car park late at night
Beautiful old building
Staff couldn't find our booking , wasn't very pleasant. I had the email on I pad . Double bed was 2 singles pushed together that gradually separated during the night. Uncomfortable mattress
Staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful Lunch was good but dinner was excellent as was breakfast. Room was comfortable with good ensuite facilities. Great shower.
Only a small critisism but the decor in the room was a little oppressive, I think more a case of trying too hard. Certainly would not stop us booking again!
Good location for Gatwick airport, impresive building in huge grounds, good food & friendly staff
The shower needed a little attention
Breakfast and dinner were excellent, served in a very pleasant dining room by attentive staff.
The building and rooms are fitted out with fabulous period furniture and pleasant grounds
No food available after 9.30
Quiet. Quirky and spooky character building and grounds. Friendly welcome by receptionist.
Getting locked out by midnight/no night key. Doesnt seem geared up to regular guests only those leaving cars while on holiday or wedding guests for one night. Tea and coffee in room not restocked from previous guests and nobody around to ask (would have to phone duty manager).
The room was not clean lots of spiders webs, stains down the cupboard, mirrors and glass not been cleaned, leaving you feeling grubby.Arrived in the dark no outside lighting, left at 6.15am could not see the path to the car park, rained heavily through the night and walk into a big puddle of water. Breakfast only starts at 7am to late.
Peaceful environment, good food, pleasent staff,
Clearing the leaves from every duct of the car each morning.
