We like the rural location but close proximity to Gatwick, the character of the hotel and grounds and the staff especially Michael from Slovakia who was only staying for a week - 8 years ago. All good

A fantastic Hotel both in its appearance and location. Four poster bed in my room was comfortable but wasted on a solo traveller! The room was let down only by one thing, beautiful décor a good shower but cheap toilet paper and the cheapest toilet seat ever, why ruin the quality feel of the hotel by these little things. The food was great and the breakfast was excellent. The only major criticism is the bar area, not in keeping and not comfortable or inviting. The staff were fantastic and very helpful. Will I stay again, yes but I will bring my wife….

This is a lovely tucked away hotel in quiet and scenic surroundings. Me and my partner stayed there one night and we couldn't fault it. Staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered room service which was also very tasty ( I'm a big foodie) value for money was very good too as we had a deluxe four poster bedroom. I done a lot of research on places beforehand and this toped the list. We didn't use restaurant or bar but had a look inside and seemed pretty nice. I recommend it for a romantic stay away.

The Hotel is located in the countryside but very close to local towns and the airport (Gatwick). The grounds are very pleasant, the rooms were nice and spacious, very clean. All the staff were very pleasant and the hotel has a very nice library. The dining room was very nice, breakfast good, the food from the bar menu was good, didn't eat in the restaurant. We arrived at 10.00pm, reception was closed so we had to find a member of staff to check us in. Breakfast was good but on one morning the service was slow and we were not prepared to wait any longer. Reception closes in the evening, so we had several guests asking us where it was, so we had to direct them to the bar to find a member of staff, we didn't mind but it could be made more clear to guests arriving in the evening. There is a notice in the room advising guests they may not consume their own alcohol or food in the rooms which we found quite unwelcoming. Food and drink a little overpriced.

The hotel had character, food was good. There did not seem to be many staff on duty. This meant that on check in I had to wait for staff, when trying to order a drink from the bar I had to wait for the chap to finish checking someone in! In the morning, when checking out, I rang the bell and no one came. I had to go to find a member of staff. Hotel was also designed on the maze concept! There were very few signs directing to bedrooms. There was at least one couple wondering around trying to find their room.

Friendly staff who tried incredibly hard to accommodate our requirements and always had a smile for the kids. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The hotel grounds are great with super views over the local countryside. The hotel was light on facilities and rooms were a little basic but reasonable value. Cleaning could have been better and the menu a little more imaginative (especially as the restaurant / bar are the only real facilities on offer)

Excellent location, very close to Gatwick but also very peaceful. Nobody available on reception when we checked in and checked out (4pm Saturday and 8.30 am Sunday). We had to wait quite a while and eventually go looking for someone to help us.

This is an amazing building with plenty of character and period features. The cleanliness of the room was disappointing, the building dates back to the 1800's and so do the cobwebs behind the bed. The food in the resteraunt was okay and resonably priced but poor attention to detail mean't I was served what can only be described as a raw piece of chicken.

Beautiful building and grounds Not well organised - could not find my booking. Very officious with strict rules. Not welcoming. Charged extra for anything and even charged you £22.00 if they found you had brought a bottle of wine into your room. No facilities in room - no iron, no fresh water, no morning paper , not even a pencil and paper.

Friendly staff - lovely surroundings - beautiful views. Reception closed when we arrived (around 6pm) and it took us a while to find a member of staff to open it. Later - when we arrived back from the village at around 11.30pm the whole place was locked up and in darkness and it took us some time to rouse the (albeit very helpful) staff member.
